Upgrading Streeter's spot isn't a concern. If he isn't upgrading/replacing the guys that are actually getting on the field on Sunday then we don't have a place for him.
Pit mentioned that he'd be better than Calloway, but I'm not sure of that. If this guy's speed is akin to Vice Grips, then he CANNOT bring what Calloway does, which means his role here would be that of Vice Grips' or Higgins'.... and we're not replacing Vice Grips and I'm not sure we want to muck with Higgins' development.
It all boils down to this: who comes off the field, and off the roster, to make room for him?

Streeter off the roster ... Higgins down a notch on the depth chart ... y-townIts about winning NOW ... This D’s legite .... Were not ready for the division title or the playoffs quite yet ... but make no mistake about it ... were going to suffer with Bake’s growing pains this year but this year is NOW OFFICIALY ABOUT WINNING ... And we may not pick him up and i won’t be even a little bit upset ... but he’s no slouch ... i watch a lot of football and he’s an upgrade on Higgins today and IMO he’d play in the two wide sets with Vice Grips even though Callaway is abetter compliment to Vice Grips .... It prolly won’t happen ... and thats OK ... LETS GOOOOOOooooooooooo ...

It's about both winning and developing players for the future.
Do you think that the team would sign a guy like Matthews, if it meant sitting Callaway? How about Higgins, who had 3 catches for 32 yards in basically one half with Mayfield?
The Browns have had chances to add receivers cut from other teams, including 1st option at the final cuts. They chose to stand with the players they had worked with all along, until Gordon decided that he din't want to be part of the team any longer. That's the only change they made, was Gordon out, and a veteran who can help be a mentor, in.
Haley was quoted as saying that they really liked the receivers they had in camp, and that he wanted to work with them. That's exactly what has happened.
Also, and once more, the team is trying to build a team first, all in mentality. Part of the reason Gordon is no longer here is that he didn't want to do that. If the team brought in Matthews, yet the team decided that Callaway and Higgins would receive the most playing time, how would Matthews react? We don't have to guess, because we have already seen it.
I don't think that's what the team wants.

I would also add that Matthews was ..... mad .... because he was down to the #3 receiver spot with the Titans. Why would he embrace the 3rd or 4th spot here?
He will probably go to a WR desperate team like the Cowboys, where he can start.

I think the confusion here lies with "straight line speed". Many great WR's run less than a 4.3 40.
Being a great WR is about your cuts and route running.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Not us, but a former "us" ...... Maybe he should be known as Corey "Cut Again" Coleman. Patriots cut former Browns first-rounder Corey Coleman for the second time in two weeks - CBSSports.com https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/patri...e-in-two-weeks/At this point, the New England Patriots might just be playing games with the rest of the NFL. On Sept. 10, just over a week after their rival Buffalo Bills released wide receiver Corey Coleman, the Patriots worked out the former first-round draft pick. A day later, they signed him. Less than a week after that, they cut Coleman themselves. Three days later, they re-signed him to their practice squad. Now, with their Week 4 game against the Miami Dolphins fast approaching and Julian Edelman's return from a four-game suspension coming right after that, the Patriots have parted ways with Coleman yet again, releasing him on Saturday, the team announced. New England has been churning through wide receivers ever since trading Brandin Cooks and failing to re-sign Danny Amendola this offseason. Eric Decker, Kenny Britt and Jordan Matthews all came and went before the team landed Josh Gordon from the Cleveland Browns, while former Indianapolis Colts castoff Phillip Dorsett was forced into a big role early on. With Gordon potentially set to make his Patriots debut Sunday and Edelman on the way back, New England apparently deemed Coleman expendable again. Coleman's first departure from the Patriots came when New England acquired Gordon, his former Browns teammate. Just two months ago, Coleman was still fighting for a job in Cleveland, which drafted him 15th overall in 2016. Since then, he's had a whirlwind of a season, going to the Buffalo Bills in a trade on Aug. 5 and lasting less than a month before his release. In two seasons with the Browns, the former Baylor standout totaled 56 catches for 718 yards and five touchdowns.

Is he going to be out of the league? We got a pick for him?!?!? He might have a worse career than Justin Gilbert!

Nah, at least he contributed a little.
Gilbert didn't contribute at all. He just slept in.

Gilbert and Manziel can't be topped in terms of BUSTS in one round IMO

Ty sir ... With where we are now, we do not improve ourselves by upgrading the spots that won't see the field. We don't need to fluff the bottom of the roster.... we need guys that push current starters down into backup roles. The floor is high enough, we need to raise the ceilings. The second thing, though is what YTown pointed out about it setting back the young bucks. It's a balancing act and I'm not sure that adding this guy outweighs the down sides, which includes his attitude over his current role.

Ty sir ... I dont agree but i understand .... He’s good Purp ... he’d improve our football team today .... We’ll just have to agree to disagree ... The tude could be a problem .... he’s never had an issue before .... he wouldn’t be the first guy to not take to the “Patriot way” ... he got hurt in training camp and missed almost all of it .. that don’t go over well in Billville .... I have no clue what happenend ... he could be a head case .... we don’t know that ... i do know he’s pretty good ... I’m good either way ... if we bring him in i will be happy ... he’s way better than Dez or any of the guys cut on final cut down day ...

I think Corey has real attitude problems combined with always knowing when his next soft tissue injury is going to set him back. IDK how a team can bomb on so many first round draft picks like us, and I'm not sure there will ever be a team to misfire as many times as us in the first. Ward has been better these last three games alone than Gilbert, J. Football and Coleman combined.

J/C I lifted the following from an article on the team website. It goes directly to the issue of familiarity/cohesion/chemistry/timing, take your pick: 13 Questions... CB.com: How much did your chemistry with guys like Antonio Callaway and Rashard Higgins help when you were summoned to play, and how easy does a receiver like Jarvis Landry make your transition even though you haven’t thrown to him as much? Mayfield: I think training camp with those other guys definitely paid off. Every rep paid off with getting the timing down and trusting them to know what they’re doing. I was able to communicate exactly what we want. Jarvis is just a baller, man. I know exactly what he’s going to do. There’s something about it; he just plays the game. We have our schemes and a lot of times plays don’t go the way you want them to. You’ve got to play ball at that point and he’s one of those guys that knows how to do that. Signing another receiver, even one with objectively higher talent than a guy already on the team is a nuanced decision. Even the Patriots are being deliberate with getting Gordon suited up. (Seems he's active today. We'll see how much and how well he plays.) Anyway, with Mayfield getting his first start and all of the implications of that, also messing with the receiving corp at this time seems ill adviced.

The Cleveland Browns have signed DB Jeremiah McKinnon from the club’s practice squad and placed DB Terrance Mitchell (wrist) on injured reserve.* McKinnon is 5-11, 192 pounds and officially in his first NFL season out of Florida International. Originally signed by Dallas as an undrafted free agent in 2016, McKinnon spent the first four weeks this season on the Browns’ practice squad. He has also spent time on the Titans’ (2016) and Giants’ (2017) practice squads. He is a native of Miami, Fla. Mitchell, who joined the Browns as an unrestricted free agent this year, started each of the first four games this season. He recorded 19 tackles, one interception, three passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He fractured his wrist in the second quarter at Oakland. *Each team can designate two players to return from injured reserve. Designation does not need to be made until that player is able to return to practice. A player placed on injured reserve is eligible to return to practice in six weeks and must miss a minimum of eight games. https://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/bro...-injured-reserv

I forgot about McKinnon. If he can get on the field he should help with the loss of Mitchell. He can't be much worse than Carrie was against the Raiders.

McKinnon is a ball hawk from what I saw in practice and in the preseason ... very active and plays with energy.
Honestly, the 2nd CB is a HUGE area of concern for us now ... we gotta try to find an answer at all costs

Have there been any injury updates on Howard Wilson? He had surgery for a torn patella tendon in June of this year after fracturing his kneecap in 2017. I'll be surprised if he ever plays a down on an NFL game.

Understatement. If we can't find a decent CB that can play press man on an island halfway decently, this is going to be another long season.

CB Arrion Springs signed to Browns practice squad https://brownswire.usatoday.com/2018/10/03/cb-arrion-springs-signed-to-browns-practice-squad/Browns Wire 32 mins ago The Cleveland Browns announced the team has signed cornerback Arrion Springs to the practice squad. The undrafted rookie from Oregon fills the hole left when the Browns promoted cornerback Jeremiah McKinnon to the active roster. Springs was most recently on the New Orleans Saints practice squad before being cut a day ago. He’s also spent time this year on the Chiefs practice squad. His athletic profile shows decent speed for his body mass but not a lot of lateral agility or explosiveness. Pro Day results (via NFL Draft Scout) Height: 5-foot-10 1/2″ Weight: 208 40-yard dash: 4.46 20-yard dash: 2.64 10-yard dash: 1.53 225-pound bench: 18 Vertical: 32 Broad jump: 9-10 20-yard shuttle: 4.51 Three-cone drill: 7.02
