Man, they are getting absolutely throttled by what is arguably the worst team in the league.

I don't think we'll have to tank for that lottery pick. It will happen organically.

Disagree with Sexton though. I think he's fine. Certainly being outplayed by Young right now, but I don't think that makes him not ready. He played like a boss last game. He's a rookie, going to have some ups and downs.

And what Thibodeau is doing to Butler is what Altman should have done with Irving.

Apparently Altman is well liked and thought to be highly competent. I don't see it. Seems young and inexperienced to me and the jury should still be out.

Man, this Hawks game is insane. They are literally a group of nobodies. Hue/Lue, Lue/Hue, are there some similarities there? (Uncle Buck reference).

I think Lue might not make it. He doesn’t seem to be a teacher. We really need that. I’d love to hire blatt back. Lue has never been able to get these guys to play defense

Lakers might go down as one of the worst defensive teams in history...man i thought cavs defense was bad...lebron going to have a hard time carrying those guys. Funny that people are already starting the Klove trade watch. I get it somewhat, they might have said you know what, we would be better off rebuilding, lets get some more picks to help and do right by kevin and let him play for a contender. Boston makes the most sense because they still have a ton of picks, but i could see lebron wanting him in LA as a legit second option. Love's contract is appealing since he's signed for 4 years, he wouldn't be a rental. I think the situation deserves keeping an eye on

Add Korver to the trade watch later in the season as well.

Cavs should be tanking the next couple season and building through the draft. It's the only way for them to compete.

Yeah, they are the Lakers. They think all Free Agents want to play for them ... you know, until they don't.

I'm guessing most free agents would rather play for the Lakers than the Cavs.

Who said anything about the Cavs? I'm talking about the Lakers. Every year they (mostly their fans and sports pundits) think they're going to sign every big name free-agent, and every year, just about everyone passes on them. Lebron is the first big name guy to sign there in a long time, and in the process, Paul George said no thanks.

I'm sorry. I didn't realize it was against the rules to mention the Cavs on a "Cavs News..." thread.

Not to mention, just about all the superstars rather not play with lebron...They want their own team..Its a problem thats plagued lebron his whole career.

How do you all feel about the scoring this season? I heard scoring was up 5 points on average, PER TEAM. That seems a bit high. I'm not sure if the NBA will need to pull that back down, but 135-128 games could become the norm.

Heck, the Cavs are giving up an average of 126.7 in three games (and we have the worst differential in the league). Ouch. And only one team in the NBA is averaging less that 100 per game, Boston, at 99.8. Sure, it's early, but damn.

I'm not a fan of so many high-scoring games. I guess most fans like it, but I doubt that many real basketball folks like all the high-scoring games. I think they're cool once in awhile, but I like the intensity of games where guys are fighting on both sides of the ball.

The analytics say shoot and shoot, faster and faster. It's a three or go to the hole, no mid-range jumpers allowed. So this may be the new normal for the NBA.

Solid point.

But, I think the home run or strike out thinking has destroyed baseball.

But again, I'm sure both MLB and NBA have outstanding marketing research departments and they know a lot more than some old schmuck like me.

That's the problem with analyzing statistics. You learn the one best path to win and teams double down on it.

During the NLCS telecast, John Smoltz said he would rather the Brewers move their runner on 2nd to 3rd with no outs even though the analytics say it's better to swing away with three batters. I think that was in Money Ball too, something about letting the team give you outs. The era of moving runners with a sacrifice is over for the most part.

Heck, stealing bases has been dead for a long while (you need to be 55% successful or else it's not worth the attempt). The defensive shift is another, if a guy hits the ball to the right side of the infield more often than not, play him that way until he can hit of the left side with regularity. I think that's where we'll see more younger players being drafted that can spray their hits.

MLB has become this game where almost every team plays every situation the same. It's a little boring. Get on base at all costs, don't move runners, swing for the fences, play the shift and rely on your hard-throwing bullpen heavily.

Anyway, back to the NBA. I'm not saying I want to watch a bunch of contested mid-range jumpers (see Carmelo Anthony), but it's take a deep three or go to the rack for some free throws. The game feels a lot like MLB, every team is playing the same offense and defense every night.

Ratings are up, fantasy is hot, gambling is crazy and the old NBA is dead. Maybe that's for the best, as you said, some marketing guru's designed it like this and it's paying off. However, I miss watching a team with a low-post threat once in a while. Oh yeah, defense is also cool too.

Oh well...

The game has gotten soft. Its not physical. Players don't want to play defense. Very few pride themselves on being able to defend. Its not like 80-90s where there was alot of 2 way players. I really don't like games that get above 120. It's not an NBA game at that point. its an exhibition rec league game. Nba has created this with all the new rules on how you're allowed to defend. They need to ease some of that so people can be physical again on defense. It also doesn't help that the NBA has the worst officiating in pro sports. Guys are afraid to get too aggressive. Though NFL is giving them a run for title of worst.

I agree with you, the scoring is outrageous. The over/under lines are noticeably higher than last years games and the over is still covering 65% of the time. Crazy.

Vers wants to go back to the days where they was basically wearing booty shorts on the court.

We don’t need to put the effort to tank. Just leave Lue as coach and this team will finish deadlast organically

Who is Zion?
Position? College team?

If you want to add a scouting report, that would be awesome a well.

It seems like the Cavs could be the first team to go 0-82.

A very small part of me kinda hopes that happens just because of all the hate that guys like lead, Excel, 4life, yourself, etc poured upon the Cavs last year when we were actually a decent team.

They'll accidentally win. But, finishing last would be ideal for the next couple years.

What's criminal is that they were favored giving -8 and -3 in the last couple games. Free money.

I'll be curious what they get for Love in a trade.

we suck worse than I thought LOL. We may only win 20 games.

We are a team trying to fond our footing without Lebron.

Lebron's new team just won their 1st game.

I am not saying we'll win 50 games, but it's unfair to expect a team to have such a huge loss, and going with a new system, to start off hot.

I'd give them 20 games before freaking out. It's going to be difficult.

Exactly. Had you told a Cavs fan that we weren't a bubble team two weeks ago you would be called a hater. Hell, I don't even want Zion, but I was too young to appreciate the fat Shawn Kemp era, so I'm down to relive it through Zion.
