I think Cincy is much easier to defend without Bernard and Green (and Eifert)

the offense is a shell of itself

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I mentioned this in the Game thread, but the only other time I've seen this offense clicking as well as they did against Atlanta was the 4th game of pre-season against the Lions. Oddly enough, Kitchens was calling that game too.

Mike Brown is so cheap that the only way they'll fire Marvin Lewis is if Hue costs half of that.

Lets hope so ... its the Jerry Jones as owner theory on coaches ...

As long as Jerry continues to run the boys they’ll ALWAYS STINK ... same with MARV and the bungles ...

Hope he has a life time gig ... thumbsup

I'd like to Lewis gone if the outcome was the Bengals hiring Hue as their HC.

That'd be two free wins for the Browns each year!

Great Job By Baker But Callaway Has To Get Smarter and Not Reach the Ball Out Like That, it Could Have Cost Us Big Time tsktsk

My only guess is that he wasn't entirely aware of where he was and was simply thinking "extend to get the 1st down".

I think that as the game continues to slow down for him and he becomes more aware of situational details, he will improve with things like this.

I'm betting that he is getting coached up on it today during film review. wink

He has worked with Arians in the past, could we see Arians come in here as HC keep Kitchens as OC and groom him to become HC when he retires???

This is true - but Calloway had a good game and I'm focusing on the +ve.... I'll let the coaches work with Calloway on improving!

Didn't say he wasn't doing good he fumbled earlier also by not protecting the ball, I like Callaway and expect to get even better ...

And some of those calls were made to "steal" the Birds' timeouts. I think our OC just was relentless in whittling their clock options and maintaining the game control to finish. Haven't had that for a few years, so people may have overlooked it. Aggressive play calling is not as important as whipping your only real opponent at that point which is the clock. I thought this was a heck of a call and one major execution. Kudos to BM, OC, and offense.

I agree with this, and pointed this out in the post game thoughts thread. that possession was not about yardage, or first downs or field position. it was about getting the Falcons to burn all three timeouts with four minutes left in the game and needing 2 TDs. Smart football.

We were lucky Bake was knocked backwards just before going out of bounds on the 3rd down run, or that would have saved Atlanta a time out.

Lets see how they do over the next several games. They don't have to win them all. I like we seem focused and disciplined.

Agreed. I was as excited as any Browns fan over what I saw Sunday but let's put it in perspective, it was one game. I hope we continue to play this way for the rest of the season but we need to see what happens. One thing I like is that it happened just before a bye week so we get to enjoy it for a week longer than usual. The way our Browns played felt great and I hope we keep it up!!!

Going in to the bye is big as well. The players go out on a high note and have a chance to refresh. They don't report until next Monday or Tuesday i believe.

It is new at the top, but I hope the coaches get a Few days off to do the same. Maybe come in on Wednesday or Thursday this week to start the process.

Gaines won't be back this year, but Mitchell 'could' be back for the Panthers game.

The cast has been removed for a week? or more.

People are going to tune in just to see what we run on offense next week.

Flexbone?

Single Wing?

Emory and Henry?

Notre Dame Box?

Maryland Power I?

Or maybe we go New School and throw in an A-11 offense?

Going forward if Kitchens' can cook something up (see what I did there) after a defense is lined up the offense shifts into any variation of one of these old school offensive formations we might be able to at least force a defensive timeout. We might be able to combo block the edge and compensate for our relative weakness at OT. We might be able to quick snap the ball and execute anything from play-action, maybe certain screens or run power or zone. I'm keeping an open mind.

Even with the little wrinkle we showed against Atlanta we force the Cinci to spend some time preparing for it.

It was said that Williams in his practices were focusing on the discipline of not getting penalties...and low and behold...we had our best game regarding being assessed penalties. So already he is bringing to the table something HUE just could not.

We were averaging over 10 penalties a game.

GW - Two games, 11 penalties.

We were averaging over 3.5 sacks a game.

GW - Two games, 2 sacks.

We were leading the league in drops, don't know the numbers.

GW - Two games, haven't seen any

We were leading the league in 3 and outs

GW - first game, NONE for the first time all year, second game not sure, but not many

We had not scored a touchdown (w/XP?) all year, in the first quarter.

GW - got our first one (w/XP?) First quarter and first half scoring up.
