Too old. Not a long term fit.

Had just retired for health reasons.

The opposite of what Dorsey was looking for.

Not jumping for joy or cursing either. Could be great, could be disastrous.

I feel alright about it because of Dorsey and the front office.

I wanted Arians for a couple years at most and I wanted to keep Freddie as asst. HC in traing under Arians I never thought it would be good to hire him for 5 years or more ...

What did I miss about Stanton? I thought he was signed through 2019.

I would presume Taylor is gone and we will have Stanton as our back-up QB next season.

I'm a big believer in chemistry in cases such as this. I liked what GW and his coordinators were doing.

I hope things work out, but I can see Freddie starting but 1-5 next season and fans will start resenting the decision this team made this week.
We turned things around mainly because of our Offense. Our defense didn't get better when Gregg took over, our offense got better when Kitchens took over.

I give Gregg a lot of respect for what he did, but the reason for the turn around was plain and simple, Freddie Kitches - which is why he was named HC and not Gregg, or anyone else.

Baker loves Freddie, Freddie loves Baker.

This is a great day for Browns Football! We finally did the right thing, the Haslams let John pick his guy, and he did.

Baker got his guy as well.

chemistry, continuity, (Baker is going to have the SAME OFFENSE going into year 2 - do you know how important that is?), respect. All things we have lacked in years past, are here now.

The most important person in the NFL today is the Franchise QB, second is a HC that can mesh with the Franchise QB ...

Drew Stanton is signed as a player through 2019.

Look for Ryan Lindley to get a promotion.

Super happy with this!

Hopefully a lot of the other coaches are retained as well.

I really really hope that the deciding factor wasn't that we hired him as HC because maybe, possibly, at some point down the line, hypothetically... he'd get hired away. We blocked him from interviewing because he was getting calls for OC positions. Not HC positions.

Right, I thought that as well, but consider this:

If teams had called about a HC position, it probably would have forced us in to keeping him. Maybe other teams didn't want to tip their hat until we named someone else head coach. Then all of a sudden the phones ring off the hook requesting interviews.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

I don't think it says that at all. It says that we firmly stood by the fact that we were keeping Kitchens and wanted to weed out the weaklings who were opposed to that before they were interviewed... and before we interviewed Kitchens.

This must not be news apparently. How many negative reports on this can BSPN and others gin up? Let's not lose track of the records and performance BM put up.

Let's play tomorrow. Is this where other coaching news should be posted going forward. Apparently Arians fibbed then settled.

Who's kept? Who's hired? Who's leaving?

The front office knows McCarthy really well. I wouldn’t be surprised if the team met with him at some point midseason.

Not to argue that lines of communication weren't open, but we would not have been insisting on Kitchens staying at mid-season.

I don't think mid Season they are that high yet on Freddie though.

Maybe because they are familiar with MM, that's EXACTLY why its BS. lol

I'm a happy camper right now! Freddie was my top choice, and is a guy I think can coach this team for the next decade plus. laugh

He is still a player so probably unlikely.

It maybe his future. But it will be interesting to see if Freddie hires a OC?

DC. Probably looking for a 4-3 guy.

Is it official that Blake is gone?

I can understand GW leaving. It would have been awkward with him and Freddie.

But Blake needs to separate from his father. And this is a good opportunity for him.
