some are just nervous that MATURITY-wise - not actually talent and skillset based- that baker is pulling manziel kinda nonsense. acting like he's whipping out his junk on the sideline might be cool for some, but for those posters who like their QB's to act more like a CEO rather than a child, its gonna be a problem.
I think you have a lot of "stay off my grass" old guys watching kids playing a game, expecting them to act how THEY want them to act.
I see receivers, running backs, and even our opposing QB this past weekend doing somersaults into the end zone. Isn't that showing the other team up just as much as anything Baker has done?
I hope that Baker drops the issue with Hue, if Hue is employed next season, but showing emotions? I'm OK with it, as long as it doesn't cost the team yardage in penalties.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.
If you don't like it, I guess you can go cheer for Kirk Cousins and the Vikings or something.
LMAO.. so the guy with 31 posts to his name, which includes Baker's name, and who has a photo of Baker in his OU jersey not his Browns jersey, and lists his hometown as Baker's hometown, and didn't give a flying rats-arse about the Browns until 8 months ago... is going to show up and tell people who have been Browns fans since before he was born that they should go root for another team.

Fanboys. What you gonna do? Just laugh and know that when Baker hangs up his cleats one day jokers like that will go with him.

And people wonder why some of us are not so eager to welcome the bandwagoners.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
I love everything about all of this. I have been LONG and I mean decade long on this board talking about how I don't care about the attitudes of the players. I would have welcomed Suh, Harrison and Hines Ward and their dirty play with open arms.
I want to win, I don't care about feigning moral values or how a man should conduct himself. We have rapists, wife beaters and accomplices to Murder going int the HALL OF FAME someday soon. Like I give a rats ass about Baker styling on a garbage ass former head coach of ours.
Haven't read the thread in a minute, just adding that the thought of OSU Bengals fans getting so butt hurt about Baker from this point on will be great. I couldn't care less about the flag planting, but my Bengals friends hate him. I love it.
I find it funny about the FAILED ATTEMPT at a flag plant. I mean there's something to be said about a kid who just played four quarters on artificial turf that isn't smart enough to know you can't plant a flag in it.

No, he hit the nail on the head symbolically... OU was claiming ownership of the field and his fellow team members and OU fans didn't think it looked dumb... that's why it ticked off so many OSU fans.
You can say it was childish, cocky, immature, etc.. but what you can't do is say that he failed to make his point.
If you don't like it, I guess you can go cheer for Kirk Cousins and the Vikings or something. He likes to hold hands and share precious bible verses, I hear.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have read and one of the reasons I hate the thought of bandwagon fans wanting to join our party. Choosing to root for another team because of one person isn't what we do. For decades you all have laughed at us, made jokes about us, used Cleveland as your punchline and now that we are building something you want to jump on board and talk about how cool we are and celebrate as if you have been here all along. I have said for years that it is us, the true die hard Cleveland Browns fans, who will have the last laugh and it is finally beginning to happen. We welcome you aboard and all the other new fans who have and will join, however, the best thing you can do is learn your history about our team and respect it and us diehards who never gave up.
No new fan can ever understand what it is like to be a lifelong Browns fan...it is easy to support a team when they are good, but to stand by your team during decades of poor ownership, abandonment of the city, bad coaching hires, awful drafting etc., yet to still support through thick and thin and to have hope...THAT is the definition of a true fan.
Vers and I have some back and forth history, he has annoyed the hell out of me and I am sure I have annoyed the hell out of him, but one thing I will say in his defense...the dude has football IQ and has been and IS a lifelong Browns fan. Any new fan who joins our party simply because of one player or because our future is finally bright needs to learn WHY we may have some cynics amongst us and to respect it. You can disagree with it, but understand the why. Just because we may have finally found our QB doesn't mean that trust in the entire organization comes overnight. Dorsey helps. But, it will still take time and we watch with close eyes as our heart has been broken too many times.
For the record, regarding Baker...as his personality and voice became much stronger since week 8 I personally don't have a problem with what we have seen and heard from him. It is refreshing to know that we have somebody who clearly wants to play for the Browns and bring respect back to the team and our city. He has a huge chip on his shoulder due to his own history with TT, Cowherd and other media folk doubting him as the #1 and Hue not giving him a shot at the start. And as fans, we too have chips on our shoulder! We have weathered this storm for many, many miserable years. I actually think he may be the perfect leader for the Browns. I actually have more of an issue with the media as they are the ones who keep stirring it up and keep questioning him about Hue just to keep that drama in the papers. Sadly, that is what they think a lot of people want to read.

His point? The only point he made was a message to future NCAA QB's. That point was.... "Don't make yourself look stupid by trying to plant your team flag in turf."
But yes, it was all of those other things you mentioned too.

Don't make yourself look stupid because then you can't win the Heisman? Get to the NC playoff? Go #1 in the draft? Compete for ROY?
And seriously, do you honestly think he expected to "plant" the flag to a point where it stood on it's own? Because if that's what you think, then he's not the only one involved here that looks stupid.
Hey, people are trying to make it sound like he wanted his team flag to fall in the middle of The Shoe. At that point, how much more stupid could it get?

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

Geez, go cry me a river.
I jumped on board here when the majority of you were bashing your own team's #1 draft pick, and before he'd won a game this year. Deciding to cheer for a team when they are 1-31 over their last two seasons is exactly the OPPOSITE of jumping on the bandwagon.
I get the whole defend my turf thing. Do your duty if you must. Or . . .
. . . . you could just get back on point with the thread.
Point was valid. And I don't need credentials to make it.

Agreed. The reality is you’re a part timer. Once Bake is gone you’ll be too. Why should we let you get under our skin?

The audacity of my post was intended: it matched the lunacy of the OP's content. That is just how absurd it was. It demanded a rebuke from the likes of me.
And now to the rest of you. Here is what you still don't understand.
Baker is not going to leave Cleveland. He will play for this team his entire career. He will bring you more championships and credibility than you can possibly comprehend, over probably the next 15 years or so. Unlike your previous encounter with greatness (who shall remain nameless), Baker won't bolt for greater money or take the easy path to championships. He will make all the right decisions that scream: team, team, team. And town, town, town.
Cleveland will be the new New England.
And through the years - perhaps even the better part of two decades, I'll be posting occasionally with you to share in the delight. And we'll all have so much fun that it won't matter why any of us started cheering for the Browns. There will be that much joy to share. And we will all be great friends. And by that time, the whole experience will have become so much a part of my journey as a football fan, that I will be a Browns fan to the core.
This is the message I brought with my first post, and what I will continue to say until it doesn't need to be said anymore.
And since I will be cheering for the Browns for the rest of my life, I don't think I need to ask anyone's permission to start treating myself like a true Browns fan right now. And that means confronting idiocy in the ranks when I see it.
Dude came on .. acted cool ... then melted down and left for awhile .. the entire season pretty much .. now he comes back acting like he did before he left ...
Not a fan of that ...
Like we can control who it roots for or like i care ...
My guess is his kids will replicate this scene at some point ...
You can support it and no one will get on your ass about it. But, he told me to go root for another team. Let's not change the narrative here, even though the usual suspects are doing just that.

So? If the mean girls club ragged on me for being a new fan I'd tell yall to suck it, also.
i was toasted for the first 6 months on the original board ...
They said i couldn’t be a fan cause i knew policy RUINED THE NINERS and i said we’d suck til he was gone ... that was long before our first game ... they wanted to vote to kick me off ... *L* ...
Needless to say there were lots of fireworks ... *L* ... i don’t have back down in me dawg ...

What the hell you talking about? I didn't say a damn word about the guy. He got on my ass. I didn't even know who the hell he was.
