Repeat of the first ever MNF game to open the season. Makes sense.

I like Tennessee. It's beautiful. I always placed it in the South East. But, I can see your point. I think Kentucky and Missouri are the two tricky ones.
I do wish they would add a MidEastern label though. When people ask me .. I go by Time Zones .. I say Eastern US .. EST. To me, The midwestern label is confusing as well. I have always thought of the midwest as running along the west bank of the Mississippi.

piecing together a few rumors circulating, here's a few things that have been said (by CLE based media)
- Browns at NYJ in week 1 on MNF is failry certain - Browns at NE on SNF at some point - Browns host PIT on TNF on FOX mid season (Thanksgiving night is the newest rumor) - Browns at AZ early in the season to capture national attention before AZ is too far out of it - Browns host a SNF game - Browns host a MNF game (that would be 5 total prime time games)
So, it could shake out something like this:
1. Monday, 9/9 - at NY Jets (7:10 ESPN) 2. Sunday, 9/15 - Cincinnati (1:00 CBS) 3. Sunday, 9/22 - at Arizona (4:25 CBS) 4. Sunday, 9/29 - Miami (1:00 CBS) 5. Sunday, 10/6 - at Pittsburgh (1:00 CBS) 6. Monday, 10/13 - Seattle (4:25 FOX) 7. Sunday, 10/20 - at New England (8:20 NBC) 8. BYE 9. Sunday, 11/3 - at Baltimore (1:00 CBS) 10. Monday, 11/11 - Tennessee (8:15 ESPN) 11. Sunday, 11/17 - at San Francisco (4:25 CBS) 12. Sunday, 11/24 - at Cincinnati (1:00 CBS) 13. Thursday, 11/28 - Pittsburgh (8:20 FOX) 14. Sunday, 12/8 - LA Rams (8:20 NBC) 15. Sunday, 12/15 - at Denver (4:25 CBS) 16. Sunday, 12/22 - Buffalo (1:00 CBS) 17. Sunday, 12/29 - Baltimore (1:00 CBS)
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Opening w/the Jets, Bengals, Cards, and 'Phins would be crazy. We would be significant favorites in all four of those games.

I understand what you're saying. I really do. And I agree that's what football has evolved into. I however don't feel it's the way it was "meant to be".
When football began it was a running game. The pass was an afterthought. Running in the mud and the snow was actually an attractive game to watch. The elements were very much a part of the game.
Over time that's all changed. Now the league has the game geared towards the high scoring, passing game. The fans today and the league in general loves the 48-42 game. Defenses aren't as appreciated by the fans overall as they once were. Many people get bored with the 13-10 defensive battles of yesteryear.
As such the money factor and entertainment factor seem as important, if not more important than the game itself. It's impossible to put the product out there in the elements of bad weather. The money in today's game and the evolution in the passing game demand better weather locations and domes. Retractable roofs have become a thing as well.
It's certainly a better fan experience and a more exciting game for the average fan than it was in the beginning of football. But for me, it's hard to deny that the money and the passing game have created an environment that has created the demand for enclosed stadiums. I mean let's face it, nobody was going to build an enclosed stadium when the money wasn't there.
When players made so little they had to get a second job in the off season and fans were paying $5 for a ticket, nobody was going to build a covered stadium. Only big money allowed for that. Big money came much later.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Sunday, 12/29 - Baltimore (1:00 CBS) The turnaround from Cinci to Pittsburgh would be a little rough, but we would get the long week/mini-bye afterwards. Overall, I'd like it.

I don't mind a defensive battle, but what I don't like is 3 and out repeatedly by both teams, no sustained drives at all.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

I was mainly trying to reference the difference in what the game was in comparison to what it is. And I agree with you that many of us still enjoy a great defensive battle. But in the world we live in there are most likely more casual football fans than there are students of the game.
To draw wide appeal and bring in the big money, the game caters more to the excitement of the air game and even rules have been changed to help promote that as the outcome. As I said in an earlier post, football started out as a sport and has morphed into the entertainment business.

When the Bengals are healthy, I think there no slouches, either.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

Fun post...
I was told a rumor the NFL rented space in Cleveland to store camera equipment and such so they wouldn't have to keep hauling it up here... True or not, I dunno... but it sounds like we are in for a few primetime hostings.

That would make a nice weekend. Struggle a little to make a few hundred miles up the road, then finish the drive on Thanksgiving day in fairly light traffic. Head home on Saturday to beat the Sunday rush.

You're right, but I think we need to get off to a good start.
We would have been heavy favorites in those first four. Now, we will probably be dogs in 3 of them.
