You just don't read the threads to understand the context. Not my problem.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Every day I google for news about Trent Williams.
More then likely Washington gets things straightened out.
The thing that keeps this alive is the comments made by Williams.
I would love to get him.
My biggest fear is injury to the starters. We lack depth at tackle. In addition Hubbard and Robinson are nothing special. You add questions at RG and I am uneasy about the OL.

Williams in DC, Duke here, Gordon in San Diego, Harris in Denver ...... the one way a player usually expresses his displeasure with *something* is to request a trade. I would guess that most such requests are denied.

JMHO,Williams is too much like the guys we use to get- Scott Fujita,Willis McGahee, Miles Austin, Vince Young, Brian Hartline, Willie McGenist- some gave us couple years, but never at their past performances....Williams is an OLD 31....I'd not sign him....GO Browns!!!

I forgot we even signed Vince Young. Did he ever play for us?

Trent Williams is still very good and his skill level fits the timeline of our current roster.

I get where you are going with that but here is a big difference...won't even go to the ASSumption that OL last longer in prime performances (he does have wear and tear on him).
But here is a fact that might be missed in your opinion. In all those years with all those transactions we never had the over all talent and expectations of WINNING as we do now! That is the difference. The vet who can upgrade our current talent at the position is not lost on a one or two year performance cause we are expected to do some winning in those one or two years.

Trust FO to get players we need to compete...JMHO, I'd rather have young guy learn/cost us some plays than OLDER guy WITH injury history....Forbes or Corbett should work out...especially Corbett...I like the current competition....AND waiting for camp exposes the OLD guy less to injury....GO Browns!!! PS if he was good and healthy he'd have been signed.

Super glad that the Browns are one of the teams hunting Williams.
These types of deals though; you never know till it happens.
Remembering how the Odell deal went down. A little smoke, some talk. Drip, drip more talk. Then bamm done deal.
Honestly I don't know what to expect from Robinson? But you can bet that if Dorsey sees Williams as a significant upgrade and he can justify moving someone where he believes we have the depth to handle it.
He will do the deal.
Depending if Robinson is part of a trade this deal could be a big upgrade.
Just thinking out loud. Kirksey, Duke, a receiver we have pieces that we could move.
In the end Williams is a good player and we would have to part with some talent. Plus there will be others to compete against who will be interested.
I trust Dorsey.

I'd give this article more credence if the writer(s) led with "sources tell us..." or something to that end rather than "the three teams that are believed..."
The latter quote just seems like they're guessing on who the three might be.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

The latter quote just seems like they're guessing on who the three might be. But then, on the page talking about the Browns... John Dorsey has made some big trades during his time with the Browns and most recently, he pulled off a move to get Odell Beckham Jr. However, despite his shrewd maneuvering, the Browns do have a slight weakness on the offensive line, hence why Dorsey felt the need to contact the Redskins. Who knows though, I tend to not believe anything without concrete sources. Except MKC, I always believe her.

Williams will not report to camp.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/20...m=.cd29652bdfbc
The plot thickens.
Have no idea how this will play out. But I would like to get this guy.
Washington is desperate to keep Williams on their team. But Williams does not sound like he is messing around.
If he goes two weeks without reporting Washington may have to cut bait.

"If" we were to get Williams and the cost to do it did not include trading Robinson to Washington.
Then Robinson would most likely be moved to RT and Hubbard becomes a backup.
All of that is still down the road. Williams though is a huge upgrade over Robinson at LT.
He could be a two three answer at LT if he has stayed in condition.
I am not at ease with the OL LT, RT, or RG.
They have the players to be ok but that unit is a make shift unit outside of Bitonio and Tretter.

I don't know what this means but I'd love to know the reasons. We still have $32 mil of cap room. More than enough to afford both if we wanted. Washington may not let us keep Robinson in a trade, but money shouldn't be the issue. I would prefer that we gave them Hubbard if they wanted a tackle.

I think Baker likes Robinson .. it seems to me like we’ve seen enough to be committed to him for now

Robinson is a question mark. He played well enough last year, but he busted w/a couple of teams before he came here.
The RG position is the one I am most concerned with. Zeitler was a very good player. He was one of the top-ranked guards by PFF last year. That's a big hole to fill.
I think Hubbard is underrated by this board. I think he really improved a lot as the year progressed. He is an adequate RT and we don't need to replace him.

It is on the Washington Post link I provided.
He believes that the medical staff did not take his scalp injury serious. And he wants a new deal?
There is no clear reason that has been stated.
But he has said "he will never play for them again".
Williams has been a top notch player since he came into the league.
Robinson, I just don't know what to expect from him? Former first round pick has bombed with a number of teams.
The tape shows a guy who at times plays well. At other times he gets overwhelmed. He has the feet. But lacks the punch and tenacity.
I see a OL that at best is average. They may be adequate because I believe that there will be emphasis to get the ball out early. We have some excellent route runners in Odell and Landry. Callaway will improve in his second year. Higgens and Baker have a good thing going.
The run game could also be an issue because Zeitler was very good in the run game. A lot will depend on how the RG shakes out. Hubbard is decent in the run game.
Williams would be a big add. But I have no idea if it will work out.

TRENT WILLIAMS T, WASHINGTON REDSKINS
NFL.com's Mike Garafolo reports holdout LT Trent Williams' return to the Redskins is an "open-ended thing."
Per Garafolo, "this could take a while," and that's if Williams returns to the team "at all." Garafolo believes the Redskins probably should have found the tumor on his head sooner. Even if Williams can be convinced to come back, Ian Rapoport reports he could require further operations. 2019 is beginning to shape up as a potential disaster year in Washington.

I have read that there is no more issues with his scalp. The tumor was removed and it was benign.
There was mention of some cosmetic follow up.
I have not seen that there is anything wrong with him physically right now.
The holdout is not a physical thing.
I am curious how this shake out?

The Redskins just released their leading tackler last year, perhaps to make room to re-sign Trent

Baker said good things about Robinson last year...who wouldn't after the Desmond Harris debacle. But TW is a Sooner, and it wouldn't shock me at all if Bake was communicating with him.

How much older is Trent than Baker though? Did they play together at all?

Hubbard Robinson If Baker was slower in getting rid of the ball, I would prefer Hubbard, but I think Robinson will help the running game of this offense in 2019 more than Hubbard will and with Baker at QB we wouldn't notice much difference in the passing game.

Washington is making moves like they are planning to move on.
Something has to give here. And it needs to happen sooner than later.
Robinson has a one year deal at $7 which in payment terms is 20th in LT salaries.
Trent is 6th in salary ranking for the position at $13.6
If Washington wants a return for him they need to trade him soon because his value will decrease as camp moves forward.

I'm not so sure about that. There are far more plug and play positions that can be easily replaced. RB is a prime example. Unless you have some elite RB, you can find a replacement should a season ending injury be sustained.
That's not the same situation for a LT. If you have an average to above average LT and he goes down in camp or preseason, you have just acquired a situation that is very hard to fill with the same skill set. Your need just became immediate and dire in a critical position that protects your QB's blind side.
From a team chemistry perspective I agree that the sooner the better. On a needs basis, nobody needs a LT more than a team who just lost there's.

TRENT WILLIAMS T, WASHINGTON REDSKINS
According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the relationship between the Redskins and holdout LT Trent Williams is "totally fractured."
La Canfora sees it as beyond repair, noting Williams "does not intend to play for them again." The stud tackle was a no-show for the start of camp and it doesn't sound like the two sides will be mending fences anytime soon. If Williams is truly done with Washington, the team that drafted him fourth overall in 2010, it would be a major downgrade for the Redskins' O line. Concerningly, former Giants draft bust Ereck Flowers has been getting starter reps at left tackle.
