No, the debate began because YOU mocked my opinion that more injuries occur during TC than they would if we added another regular season game. Hell, one poster even showed the percentage of injuries in TC as compared to later in the regular season.

You are deflecting, bro. Just admit that you were mistaken on this one little thing. There is no shame in admitting you are wrong. In fact, you might be looked upon in a more favorable manner. thumbsup

Our local HS football team sent me some of his players for Judo over the off season for the same reason. We stress things line proper stretching, correct posture, safe falling techniques, nutrition, and of course a generous heaping helping of hard contact fighting. I'm anxious to see how my kids do versus the ones who didn't want to try it.

One of the kids nearly broke my back when he figured out that his strength came from a proper stance and keeping his hands in towards his center. I'm not exaggerating. The look on his face when he realized just what he had learned was priceless. I could barely walk for a week.

Part of what we did included having a local fight doctor come in and watch the boys in action. He spotted one potential problem with a kid that is fairly easily addressed but I guarantee the football team's training staff wouldn't have seen it until it was a full-blown knee injury. It's just a different way of looking at things since we routinely attack joints and look for weakness.

Doc spent one class discussing the physiology of a cramp and how to avoid it. The kids had never even heard of the concept of preventing them. They all though it was a badge of honor to get them and just power through them. Kids these days.

Yoga would be really high on my list of things for a young football player to learn. They focus too much on football things and that sets them up for injury. Dance classes also help, or so I've been told.

Once football season is over I probably need to start a thread for some of you guys to sharpen my point of view.

Ah, I see. When someone disagrees with you, you see it as being mocked. Maybe that's part of the problem.

I know you don't want to discuss the circumstances and severity of the injuries. How people not in shape have more minor pulls and strains. Because that's not really deflecting at all. That's painting the big picture and you really don't like when that happens. And you wish to label every little thing that holds a guy out of a practice for a day or two as "an injury".

There's a lot you could do to be seen in a more favorable manner too. But you choose not to. It sounds like your deflecting. I'm about as concerned about what "light I'm seen in" as you are.

I recommend aikido as well. Purely for balance and moving people. It is a later form of judo.

Yoga is interesting as well. Great to see some open-minded "extras" that may help. Good on you!

This one could be HUGE .. right now there backup is Hyde ... not even sure who else they have ... it would be a PERFECT SPOT for Duke .... if i’m KJ there’s no way in heck i’d Trade Duke to them ... NONE ....

Regardless ... folks are way underestimating the loss of Hunt on that team ... they think williams can replace him for the entire season and then into the playoffs ... he’s small and fragile ... good luck with that ... he looked GREAT last year cause he is a very good player with some quicks and speed ... doing it from week 1 is an entirely different story ...

DAMIEN WILLIAMS
RB, KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Damien Williams (hamstring) did not practice Monday.

Williams left Sunday's practice early because of a hamstring injury and was not able to practice on Monday. There is no indication at this point Williams is dealing with a long-term issue, but soft-tissue injuries have a tendency to linger. Williams will be Kansas City's No. 1 back if he is healthy.

Duke to KC? Honestly, that would be a great fit ... and maybe wed get something worthwhile

But, Duke also has a soft tissue injury. Not sure why they (KC) would even entertain this unless they know that Williams' injury is significantly worse than Duke's who is also "going to miss some time" (apparently).

How many times are you going to repeat yourself? Most things that are "reported" as injuries in training camp aren't even reported during the regular season and don't stop players from playing during the regular season.

I'm sure you've never heard, "held out of practice for precautionary reasons". It just means they're being careful.

I'm sure you'll repeat yourself once again though.

Tyreek Hill left today’s practice with a knee injury. Doesn’t sound serious, but we’ll see

TYREEK HILL
WR, KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Tyreek Hill suffered a bruised quad during Tuesday's practice.

Stand down, everyone. Hill rode the cart off the practice field after taking a big hit on Tuesday, but it looks like he escaped with a minor injury. The Chiefs might hold him out of practice for a few days just to be cautious, but there does not appear to be any long-term concerns.

A.J. GREEN
WR, CINCINNATI BENGALS

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports A.J. Green underwent "minor" ankle surgery.

According to Rapoport, the surgery does not change Green's recovery time, and there is still a chance he is ready to play Week 1. That seems unlikely given the reported 6-8 week timetable, but it is good news that window has not increased. Still a WR1 when on the field, Green could end up being a value pick as his ADP slips into the middle rounds.

Wow...

Went from "no big deal, nothing to see here" to minor surgery (I chuckle whenever people put words like 'minor' in front of 'surgery', but whatever).

DERRICK HENRY
RB, TENNESSEE TITANS

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Derrick Henry is dealing with a strained calf.

According to Schefter, the injury could sideline him for a couple of weeks, but it is not considered serious. This is ultimately good news after Henry was spotted in a walking boot over the weekend. Barring a setback, Henry should be 100 percent well before Week 1.

Tough break for the rookie from Seatltle. Hopefully it’s not as major as they’ve reported

I had read somewhere that Durant’s calf injury has made some people more wary of calf tightness, so this might be one of those cases

JAMISON CROWDER
WR, NEW YORK JETS

Jamison Crowder (foot) will resume practicing on Wednesday.
Crowder was forced from Monday's practice, but the team announced that he has been medically cleared. A left ankle issue limited Crowder to nine games last season. This "injury" was to his right foot.

MARQUISE BROWN
WR, BALTIMORE RAVENS

Ravens activated WR Marquise Brown (foot) off the active/PUP list.

ESPN's Jamison Hensley reported three days ago that Brown was trending in the right direction, and the team went ahead and confirmed it today. Brown is an electrifying prospect who oozes big-play potential with his blinding speed and seamless breaks, but he is beginning his career in the league's run-heaviest offense. WR5 value figures to be the best he can hope for as a rookie.

This just in ... first time any regular season games have been mentioned ... they were gonna be bad enough .... this is just HORRIBLE news for them ....

*fingers crossed* ...

A.J. GREEN
WR, CINCINNATI BENGALS

Speaking Tuesday, Bengals coach Zac Taylor said A.J. Green (ankle surgery) will miss regular season games.

"When they get in there and get the surgery done, they realized it's going to be a little bit longer," Taylor said of Green's timeline. "It's just going to be a couple of games ... hopefully he'll be ready to go at the beginning-half of the season." That does not sound good. This seriously changes the calculus around Green's average draft position. Turning 31 on Wednesday, Green missed seven games last season and six in 2016. John Ross is also on the shelf, leaving Tyler Boyd as the last man standing for the time being. The WR2/3 borderline seems like the earliest appropriate time to gamble on Green.

DAMIEN WILLIAMS
RB, KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

ESPN's Adam Teicher reports Chiefs coach Andy Reid "sounded frustrated" when discussing Damien Williams' hamstring injury.

‘’He’s missed quite a bit,’’ Reid said about Williams, who's missed the past week of camp with a nagging hamstring injury. "He’s missed a lot of plays. It’s been great for these other guys. [Carlos Hyde] has done a nice job. He’s got a lot of reps and he’s taking advantage of them.’’ It could be much ado about nothing, but it's at the very least interesting that Reid specifically mentioned Hyde as a standout fill-in. Kansas City also drafted Darwin Thompson in the sixth round and most recently converted CB Tremon Smith to running back for depth. It would certainly help his cause if Williams can make it back before the Chiefs take the field for their first preseason contest.

I keep thinking the Chiefs might be a spot for Duke, but we might not want to part with him until mid season

Hard to trade him when he's injured.

It's hard to see how Carlos Hyde fits into the Chiefs' offense but it looks like he's going to get a lot of touches at this point.

Hyde is not a bad player at all, just not the shifty/pass catching type back that fits Reid’s (and. KC’s) system

Joe Haden carted off at Steelers practice
Posted by Josh Alper on August 7, 2019, 4:26 PM

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/08/07/joe-haden-carted-off-at-steelers-practice/

Cornerback Joe Haden is looking for a contract extension with the Steelers, but there may be more pressing matters for him to attend to at the moment.

Haden was carted off the field during the team’s practice on Wednesday. There are no details regarding what led to Haden getting hurt or what part of the body might be affected.

Haden is headed into the final year of his deal and said in July that he’s optimistic about how talks with the team have been going. He reiterated that this week, but any thoughts of a new deal will be on hold until there’s word on his condition.

Steven Nelson, Mike Hilton, Brian Allen, Artie Burns, Cameron Sutton and third-round pick Justin Layne fill out the rest of the cornerback group in Pittsburgh.

Nick Bosa leaves practice early
Posted by Charean Williams on August 7, 2019, 3:20 PM EDT

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/08/07/nick-bosa-leaves-practice-early/

The 49ers are holding their breath that the injury to Nick Bosa is not serious.

Via multiple tweets, the second overall pick was slow to get up after a running play in team drills Wednesday. Team trainers examined Bosa’s lower right leg.

Bosa walked off the field under his own power and headed to the locker room, presumably done for the day.

49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh did not seem overly concerned after practice, saying, via Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group, “I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.”

The edge rusher missed most of last season at Ohio State with a core muscle injury. He played only three games.

Bosa missed part of the 49ers’ offseason program after injuring his hamstring.
