Not a good end last night ... on a side note, it seems like the Mets have walkoff wins more than anybody else

We need to fix the closer position, this is bad. With the Twins losing last nights game was so important. If Carrasco comes back, possibly try him? I'd try just about anyone at this point, they can't be much worse than Hand has been after the All-Star break.

Hand by himself lost the game. Anything you could do wrong from the pitcher position he did..How do you not know to cover 1st when the 1b fields the ball in a DP situation. then that horrible throw to first..i mean literally if anyone should make that throw its a guy who literally gets paid to throw an accurate ball. But besides him..lets talk about Lindor..what is his deal lately. He's one of the worst situational hitters in baseball. Basically if someone on base, he's going to strike out or hit into a DP...They put a statistic up, if a runner is on 1st or 2nd, Lindor is hitting .143.. Thats probably lower after last night. Meanwhile Carlos is the man. Most clutch guy in baseball. So glad he came back here and has had a resurgence.

Extra innings can be the kiss of death for the Tribe and this season. Hand's numbers that you posted do not help or make me confident. superconfused

Yeah, that’s not a position I’m looking forward to in about 6 weeks

I wonder if we can move Cookie into the closer's role, similar to John Smoltz.

Francona always manages for September.

He's making decisions now to have the Indians playing their best possible baseball in September. To have them "peaking" in September.

With only average luck the Tribe is a shoo-in for the play-offs.

Ramirez is someone the Tribe can’t afford to lose ... hoping it’s just a temporary stint here

That has to be at least a 4-6 week injury. Boy, it just gets better and better for this team, this year.

Man, this season has been one huge injury after another. crazy

I have no idea how the Tribe has even stayed in the picture, but this one may finish our chances.

I don't think post season is going to happen for us..too much to overcome.. I'd be bringing some arms and bats up and see what you have for next year and get everyone healthy

Windmill Reyes! I think it's the first game I've seen him hit in!

Unfortunate the pen can't hold a lead.

so you pinch hit for a guy that has 2 hits and 2 RBI in the game..for mike freaking freeman...and he promptly strikes out in 3 pitches instead of allen who sucks anyways and is 0-3 ...good call tito

And Nick Goody gives up a bomb to a guy he had in an 0-2 count ... wtf? How does that happen so much to this pitching staff? If you're a pitcher worth a damn and you have a guy 0-2, his ass should be new-mown grass. But not here, not this team, no sir. AAARGH! Drives me frigging CRAZY when that happens.

Won't lie, this one hurts.

It seems like the Indians haven’t played in a week.

There were some very good aspects to that loss to the Royals on Sunday:

1) Franmil Reyes flashed what he’s capable of (2 homers, 4 RBIs)
2) Thank god rookie Yu Chang isn’t starting his career 0-20 at the plate (or whatever). A great game for him. Offensively and defensively very solid game.
3) Hunter Wood is looking like a fine middle reliever.
4) Bieber pitched a solid game.

Bieber got into a groove Sunday during the middle innings that was very encouraging ... he’s already a pretty reliable guy for the stretch run and playoffs IMO

Bieber was at 106 pitches and had retired 13 straight Royals, my question is would you have taken him out? I would not, he was getting stronger, I think managers pay to much attention to pitch counts and not enough of how the pitcher is progressing at a given point ... JMO superconfused

In terms of that particular game, I would have kept him in there ... but in terms of the future of this season, I would have taken him out.

And, yes, I agree there’s too much focus on pitch count now too

I've thought this also.

It could be there's now a strong correlation between seasonal pitch count and pitcher performance (especially down the stretch/second half of season).

Also there could be a statistical correlation showing that "generally" middle relievers perform better than starting pitchers with 100+ pitches in a specific game.

See? Told you.

(I guess it also depends on a team's pitching options)

This team gets bent over regularly by the umps. Puig is correct. He was safe.
