Tribe wins ... current odds to make the playoffs: 70% or so
Houston playing the Rays this week helps
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Great game for Plutko.
These games against AAAA teams are good experience for the rookie pitchers.
Can't wait to watch Civale tonight.
Can he keep it up?
Unfortunately, it's been little more than batting practice for the offense. That won't help come play-offs.

That's fantastic! I am so happy for Cookie, and his teammates!

Good news for Carlos!
Now let’s hope the twinkies can lose a few

So there’s different “tier” teams in terms of strength. Dodgers, Yankees and Astros are the best. Just below them: Twins, Athletics, Rays, Indians, in American League, and Braves, Nationals, Cardinals, Cubs in National League. Indians have to play 9 games against those second tier teams away in September. Including finishing @ Washington the final 3 games of the season. Very tough. I hope the Indians are a play-off lock before going into that last 3 game series. The whole shebang starts tonight @ Tampa. I hope Francona works his September magic.

That tells me two things: They can really hit, but the balls are manufactured differently of late

That tells me two things: They can really hit, but the balls are manufactured differently of late I've heard interviews with pitchers saying that the laces seem more buried in the cowhide, making them harder to grip enough to get the good spin on their breaking pitches. Curves and sliders are lacking the sharp break the pitchers are used to getting. In effect, they are hanging there like matzoh balls for good hitters to hammer. It could explain, for instance, why Trevor Bauer is getting shelled this year after being basically unhittable last year. Same with Kluber earlier this year before he got hurt. And then there's the cynic in me who thinks they may have replaced the rubber-wound cork at the center of a ball with a frigging superball (compressed rubber). Casual fans love home runs, don't you know.

Yeah, there’s gotta be something. Players and managers have talked about it all year (some more blunt than others) .. no doubt the MLB has a hand in it IMO.
There are some HRs to the opposite field where you just say “how?”

6 games left with the Twins; we need to win at least 5 of them for a shot at the division title. Indians need to get their young reliever James Karinchak up from Columbus asap to try and shore up this bullpen, because it appears to be running on fumes.

Jimenez tipped his cap to Mercado after that catch. Nice show of sportsmanship after a great play.

I think injuries have finally caught up to the team. The Ramirez injury put it over the top.

I think Kluber's oblique injury when he was one or two rehab starts away from returning took a lot of the starch out of the team. I think we are seeing the effects of our younger guys being seen the second/third time around by teams they were affective against the first times they faced them. Also, younger guys like Plesac, Civale, Plutko - even Bieber - might be approaching innings totals that exceed the innings totals they've ever pitched before. Good, bad, or meh, Kluber, Carrasco, and Bauer were innings eaters.

Bottom of the 9th vs. the Twins tonight. Tied 2-2. I fully expect us to blow this one. If that happens, I think the team folds down the stretch.
