Puig with a near grand slam to end it. Another win for the Tribe! The Wild Horse was mobbed by his teammates.

It was a fun night to be at the ballpark.

.5 back still ... it’d be nice if the Dodgers could beat the Rays or KC could beat the As

Indians and Clevinger need to take care of business tonight vs Detroit. If they do, it'll be win #90 (they won the division last year with 91 wins), with 9 games to go. They'll also pull into a tie with Tampa for the 2nd wildcard spot. I heard Tom Hamilton say the other night that the Indians could conceivably win 97 games this year and not make the playoffs.

Indians finish with 3 at home vs Phillies, then go on the road for 3 @ White Sox, and then 3 @ Washington Nationals. Thanks a pantload to MLB schedule makers for putting us in a National League park for our final series in a tight playoff race, where we'll get to face Patrick Corbin and Max Scherzer with no DH.

If you're wondering, Tampa finishes with 4 at home vs Boston, 2 at home vs Yankees, and then 3 on the road at Toronto. Red Sox can still mash, but their pitching blows. Yankees will pitch Sabathia and Tanaka vs Tampa, plus their lineup is probably top 2 or 3 in MLB, so watch that series. Toronto's pretty bad, and they're pitching 3 guys I never heard of against Tampa. The Rays could easily finish 7-2 or 8-1, so it looks to me like an uphill climb for the Indians to reach the wildcard play-in game.

ESPN has them at 44% chance at playoffs, Tampa at 60%, and Oakland at 96%.

Yeah, if it's the playoffs then it's 44% because they are given a 1.5% chance at winning the division.

I'd love for the Indians to get into the playoffs, but at this point I feel like we'd just be a crippled punching bag for the Astros to win a quick three games in a warmup for the Yankees.

Per reports, Jose Ramirez took batting practice from both sides of the plate today, and might return as soon as this weekend against the Phillies, or if not then, next week vs the White Sox. Ramirez would provide a major boost to the batting order if this is true.

Lousy broadcast. Is that Kenny Albert? Do not enjoy his call at all.

I like Kenny Albert more for other action sports, not baseball

Out of curiosity, if we tie TB for the 2nd wildcard spot, would we have a 1 game playoff, then the winner plays Oakland in the wildcard game?

I was thinking about our rotation next year, and we will have 8 guys competing for 5 spots if no trades are made:

Mike Clevinger
Shane Bieber
Corey Kluber
Zack Plesac
Aaron Civale
Adam Plutko
Carlos Carrasco
Logan Allen

We have a lot of options next year for sure ... you can’t have too much pitching depth

Up 4-0 early against the Phillies. The good news is that we control our destiny with less than 10 games left and have an easier schedule than the Rays.

Would take an epic collapse to catch the A's or Twins at this point.

He's still a young pitcher approaching (maybe exceeding) the most innings he's ever pitched in a season.
