I wonder if we can trade a 3rd for Mahomes? Why would we do that? Hasn't it been made clear that to win a Superbowl that you need more than "just a guy" at Qb

I’d take an upgrade over Hubbard at RT for a 3rd or 4th rounder in a heartbeat ...
I’d also take a swing tackle or back up guard for a 5th or 6th rounder in a nanoo second ... same for a back up LBer since kirksey and now Harvey are done for the year ...
None of the above will hurt our future much at all and were built to win NOW!!!!! I think it makes more sense to just sit tight and pick up the best Tackle we can get in the draft. Youth, talent level, contract level, etc.... for our long term health, it is a better plan.

I agree....and maybe my saying middle of the road isn't meaning the same a just a guy.
My point is you don't have to have a top 5 QB. lets say top 15 up. 15 is about in the middle.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but I think I can get behind spending a little bit more (trade compensation-wise) to get the right guy at the right position. You're spending a little more to take the risk out of selecting for that position. To be clear, I'm not talking about loading up on aging veterans or selling the future to win today. But with our talent level where it is, I think we can afford to throw in that extra pick to get a guy that we know is good at a position we want to upgrade that can help us for at least a couple years.

That's where I am , Oobernoober. A proven thing with some solid future wheels left is a sound investment, less of a gamble. Taking a flyer now and then is part of the biz. And it strikes me spending a little when you have some bargaining exchange isn't bad now for us. The way the NFL is going this year, we should be able to replace some of it if we use some players where our depth is good or our need greater. Not sure things, but it is worth sifting through the burn pile for some bad starting clubs IMO.

I am saying this in a light-hearted manner, but I think this trade talk is more Fantasy Island stuff. Here is why.
--Who in the hell are we going to get that is going to be such an upgrade over who we currently have?
--If we can find a significant upgrade, it almost certainly cost us dearly, especially for an OT. Look at what Miami got for Tunsil.
--Our OL is not nearly as bad as many on this board think.
--We have already spent quite a bit of money on this roster and we are bound to lose some guys down the road for financial matters. Keeping our draft picks are important at this point of the process.
--I feel that the teams who might trade players are teams that want to dump salary and/or have contracts that are soon to expire. Trading picks for those types of players in a poor investment.
Thus, I don't think we are going to see a significant trade this season. We may be able to get a TE because there are so many of them out there, but I don't see us making a trade for an offensive lineman who will be a big upgrade over our current guys.

Oh, I totally agree with you. But the Minkah trade just got everyone thinking in this direction. It's totally fantasy island stuff.
I can't point to a single player and say, "Yup, that is a guy we can get at the right price that fits the bill". The closest would be Trent Williams, and he's going to command too high a price (at least, if what the 'skins are saying is any indication).
You're right, it's fun talk... but who knows, ya know?

For every reason you just listed is why I've been consistent and adamant that we don't need to do anything.
If we are who we think we are, the days of pie-in-the-sky trades should be behind us and instead we should be entering that phase where we're reloading and grooming our future in the Draft.
We aren't the 1-31 Browns trying to get talented; we are the 2019 Browns and are one of the most talent-rich teams in the league.... now is when we shift gears and leave behind Wish List Trading.
Besides that is the fact that we already have the most expensive 53 in the league right now. The ONLY reason we are still as far under the cap as we are is because of how badly we stripped our roster to carry over tens of millions from previous years. We've spent like a drunken sailor and bills will come due soon enough; we do NOT need to be piling on that with aging talent on short-term rentals.

I agree with both of you in terms of trying to make some gang buster trade for starters along the OL.
I am however not opposed to small investments to upgrade depth at the OT positions. We all saw what happened when we lost Robinson for part of a game.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

We're not going to get a "Joe Thomas" type player at any position in a trade now. I'd stand pat!

Well, the Chiefs are starting Cam Erving at LT -- that just might be an indicator of the sort of depth you might be able to trade for out there. I'll stick to my feeling that we're ok to stand pat, lol p.s. When Lamm gets healthy, we won't be TOO bad off

watching Erving yesterday made me thing two thoughts. 1. Is there a worse LT to ever play the game? 2. How bad is the Chiefs FO that you protect the most important player on your team with the worst LT in the NFL. Mahommes screamed at Erving quite a bit. The play where the db literally just ducked under his block to sack Mahommes..Thats a sign you aren't meant to be playing there

I highly doubt giving up a 5th rounder next year for a swing tackle or a back up center right now is going to affect our future much at all much less derail it ... And i’ll roll the dice on giving up a 3rd rounder not crushing our future for an upgrade to Hubbard ... I’m not looking for anything close to a blockbuster like the Tunsil trade ... crap i said FIRE SALE and BLUE LIGHT SPECIALS ... *L* ... IF u guys thing we can make a move in January with this roster so be it ... i’d feel better with some OL and LBer depth IF the opportunity presents itself ... I’d be shocked if anythng happens but a man can dream ...

Our talent has risen to the level that it will be rare for anyone beyond the fourth or fifth round to even make our roster in the future. Teams looking to rebuild going forward would see much more value in them than we should.

That's just it, though... I'm doubting you will upgrade on Hubbard for just a 3rd (we could probably sell Hubbard for a 3rd right now), and while we could get a backup for a 5th, I'm not betting it will be anyone of real value at this point.
I'd love it if we could improve things that cheaply, but I sincerely doubt it; that's why I think our best bet is in saving those picks for April..... that 3rd should get us a MUCH better player in April than we can get in October.
I'll cheer it if we can pull it off, but I just don't see it happening.

PPE, I will agree with you, it would be nice if we could trade and cheaply get an upgradebut that's just not the norm. Dorsey has done a wonderful job in trades but most of them have cost us high picks and/or talent. The only trade I question, is Vernon for Zeitler, I like Vernon very much but I'm thinking Zeitler might be more useful at this point. JMO I think we will need to continue building through the draft, so, as you saidPPE, might want to hang onto to some mid round picks.

Gotcha. Well, at this point in the season I think a players from both teams are usually involved so that each can address areas of need.

I agree with you, Vernon has hardly been the player everyone thought we were getting. What we got was major salary commitments and the Giants two worst headaches...hmmm, how IS the blockbuster trade looking at the moment?
I think we got schooled...my $0.02.

No, Baker is the biggest weakness! He can't read coverages. He throws the ball way too high. He holds it too long. He is so, so overrated.

Actually, I have no say in the situation. I'm just talking about what I see. Except, these problems didn't seem to be there last season. Last season, few batted balls, very accurate, went through progressions and threw to the correct read. He's in a sophmore slump, and he'll be alright. I'm willing to bet this coming game vs the Seahawks, he does a better job. This whole team will do a better job This team is showing itself to be wildly inconsistent at this point. But i think we'll manage a good game, and we'll be 3-3 after next week.
