When? What I saw was Baker throwing to the defenders... not OBJ dropping the ball.

Are you really comparing Baker to OBJ? Seriously?

Also if he throws to OBJ and OBJ fails, then that is smart playing. You throw to your best receiver, that's what Eli did and he got a ring...
I already TOLD YOU once, that OBJ was NOT ON THE SB Giants team. At least get your facts right before the GARBAGE you spew.

Wasn't referring to OBJ but to Eli. When the game is on the line you trust your best players, that's what Eli did, that's why he was clutch.

Joe Schobert, Damarious Randall, Rashard Higgins ponder what may be their last home game with Browns

https://www.beaconjournal.com/sports/201...ame-with-browns

Joe Schobert’s wife, Megan, recently reminded the Browns linebacker about the harsh reality he faces.

Sunday’s home finale against the AFC North champion Baltimore Ravens (12-2) could be the last time Schobert plays in Cleveland as a member of the Browns (6-8).

“It was a little shocking,” said Schobert, whom former Browns head of football operations Sashi Brown drafted in the fourth round in 2016. “If you think of this kind of like a college career — I’ve been here for four years — it’s my senior year.

“Hopefully things work out, and I can be a super senior and continue to stick around and play the days out here in Cleveland. But the NFL is a business. It does business things.”

Schobert, free safety Damarious Randall and wide receiver Rashard Higgins are the most popular Browns players among those scheduled to become unrestricted free agents March 18.

Based on how their contract years have unfolded, Schobert, a 26-year-old Pro Bowl alternate, would be the likeliest of the trio to receive an extension from the Browns, but that might not mean much because as of Friday he said he still hadn’t heard an offer.

Randall, 27, said there had been no recent talks between his camp and the club.

“I don’t rule out nothing,” he said. “At the end of the day, I don’t think you let good players walk, but, hey, to each his own.

“I don’t care if I play on the moon, bro. I just love the game of football, and I’m going to play it wherever I’m at. Hopefully I’m here, but I’m going to play it wherever I’m at.”

Randall fancies himself a good player — at minimum — despite his less-than-ideal season. He sat out two games in concussion protocol (he disagreed with the team about whether he had a concussion) and two more with a hamstring injury before coach Freddie Kitchens prohibited him from traveling for a 20-13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Dec. 1 due to an undisclosed disciplinary reason.

Asked whether he’s on good terms with the coaching staff after being benched, Randall said, “I don’t have a problem with nobody in the building.”

Acquired last year by General Manager John Dorsey in a trade with Green Bay, Randall explained he’s frustrated with missing games, not his performance.

“I’ve been playing up to the level, and I know people are going to say otherwise because I don’t have all the interceptions,” said Randall, who has 48 tackles, two sacks, four passes defensed and no interceptions in nine games. “But people haven’t targeted me. People haven’t targeted the middle of the field. I can’t help that quarterbacks understand who I am now and they don’t want to throw it near me.”

Higgins can’t get the ball, either. He can’t even get on the field. He’s no longer the No. 3 receiver, falling behind Damion Ratley and KhaDarel Hodge and logging zero snaps on offense and one on special teams in each of the past two games.

“I definitely haven’t given up faith,” said Higgins, who has four catches for 55 yards and a touchdown in nine games. “It’s tough on me, and I’ve just got to keep my head up.”

Higgins, 25, declined to discuss the reason behind his demotion. However, it’s clear his relationship with Kitchens has been prickly since they publicly disagreed over when Higgins was healthy enough to return from a sprained medial collateral ligament earlier this season.

Regardless, Higgins remains a fan favorite.

“The fans are wonderful,” he said. “A lot of people say they’re the best in the world, and I kind of feel like that, too. They’ve been a big supporting cast for me ... just because what I’ve been through and them feeling my story, how I became who I am today, me getting cut [in 2017], still working hard and making the squad, being somebody that wants to be here.”

Yet remaining here seems like a long shot.

“You never know,” said Higgins, whom Brown drafted in the fifth round in 2016.

Among the reasons a player would want to stay?

“Obviously, we had higher expectations this year,” said Schobert, who has 116 tackles, two sacks, nine passes defensed, four intereptions, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 14 games. “But this place, this city is ready to take off around this football team.”

Barring demands for the moon and the sun in the contract, s hobert is a must. Randall is probably less than 50/50 and Higgins is gone, which is a shame. Role he played last year would have made us better this year.

if we don't resign Schobert I may give up on this team and have to root for a different team. It would be about as dumb as not resigning Myles Garrett to his second contract. Randall should be a Brown I would love to see him for at least 3-4 more seasons.

I think the only thing that will really mess it up is if they retain Freddie. I'm pretty confident that every player on the team will refuse to resign.

I could also see Odell, Landry, & Hunt demanding trades.

Higs and Randall are gone.

Randall may have cost himself a lot of cash with his attitude and play this season, IMO.

Higs - they screwed him BIG TIME. He could have a chance to get a decent payday, but I doubt he gets a decent contract since they wouldn't play him.

Shobert is gone, they have not even tried to gage interest last I heard.

Yet another Sunday watching TEs make plays all over the field for other teams...and our best TE is inactive because "he doesn't do it the right way". Meanwhile, OBJ makes a nice play and gets it negated by a STUPID unsportsmanlike penalty...and the what does FK do? Not a thing. OBJ right back in the huddle...doesn't miss a snap. Half a game later OBJ scores a TD (finally) and gets into it with the refs on the field and then FK himself on the sideline. What does FK do? Continues to chat and codddle with the guy and Landry while the game is going on - Defense on the field. Meanwhile, Njoku is in street clothes and Higgins never gets in the game.

Jackson completed 20 passes yesterday...10 were to TEs...6 to RBs. Baker also completed 20 passes yesterday...3 were to TEs (ONE PER GUY)...5 to RBs (NONE TO CHUBB).

Wentz completed 31 passes yesterday...13 were to TEs...11 were to RBs...countless throws were thrown behind the LOS that went for good yards.

Scheme, coaching and talent acquisition in full view...both for good and for bad.

We are a ship with no Captain and no rudder. There is no continuity worth continuing here...other than STs.

Njoku is running wrong routes and dropping balls.

As we watch Odell line up incorrectly and Seals Jones drop balls in the endzone for conversions. . . . .

Staying with the "Roster" here as my intent:

I have a set-up in my garage where I have 7 games on at 1:00pm on Sunday. I'll have all the 4:00pm games on as well. There will be anywhere from 4 to 10 people who show up...Browns fans, Steeler, Bengal, Bronco fans regularly...and others at times. It's pretty great.

I focus on the Browns game...but I regularly see things that other teams do - oftentimes with ease - that we don't do:

Week after week I see lesser-named WRs get wide open AND/OR manage to come down with long passes that look more like punts from QBs who appear to chuck-it-up and have the WRs go get it...and they go get it...we don't have that guy. (Perriman did last year and now this year...but now playing with Nassib's team). I see WRs fight for the ball and actually catch it even when the throw isn't perfect or is thrown "behind" the WR...we have 1 guy who actually does that. I see TEs who make catches that our WRs can't make.

I won't rail on about the TEs anymore...at least not today.

I see on-purpose passes (not checkdown passes) to lesser-named RBs that actually gain good yards and keep the defenses on the lookout.

I see QBs in nice pockets with time to throw and running lanes if things break down. I see teams get to the LOS with 15 seconds or more on the play clock. I then see the motions and the QB having a moment to digest what he sees.

I see defenses that make plays to get off the field and it looks like they EXPECTED to do so...rather than it feeling like a fluke.

I see teams find success in the second half after struggling in the first half. I hear those are due to a phenomena called "In game adjustments". Who knew?

Seeing as how so many other teams manage to do these things...we either have a roster issue with players who can't do what other teams' players can do...or we have a roster of coaches who can't coach to the talent or to the flow of the game...or maybe we have all of those things.

That’s what happen when you hire people that aren’t true talent evaluators and their ego gets in the way that maybe someone the prior person picked might actually be good.

I have a couple questions that I would like to know before we come to a decision on this team.
There was a story in the plain dealer this morning that Njoku said that if Freddie comes back, then Njoku doesn't know if he wants to come back.

My questions...
What happened with Njoku to keep him off the field that last 3 games in must win games.

What happened to Higgins all season. That was Bakers security blanket last year?

Did Dorsey ever go to Kitchens and tell him to give the play calling over to Monken and when?

Either way, I hate to see turnover in players this year, but the story said that sources seem to think that probably as a start Njoku, Randall and Higgins are going elsewhere.

Anyways I dont think there is any way that FK stays, and he shouldn't. This year was way more difficult to stomach than any 3-13 year when we really didn't have the talent.

I read it as him saying that if FK comes back that he didn't know if he would back. Not because he would want to leave but more that he didn't think FK would want him to stay.

I think that is further damning for us. Those teams are perennial contenders and we perennially suck. Those teams draft well...develop players...and move on when the younger, cheaper guy is ready for action...playoff action.

We can't get the hiring right and change philosophies like underwear...then we jettison guys who can actually play...and are left with guys no better (or worse) than the guys we jettisoned.

Even when we get it right (Dorsey) we manage to get it wrong (Kitchens, Corbett, Nassib, Avery, Beckham, Zeitler, and losing (about to) prior year contributors in Higgins, Njoku, Randall.)

To me, it's further evidence that coaching has been a big problem here. It's extra-impressive (depending on how you look at it) that so many players have gone on to play with other teams, even after coming into the league on the Browns and the sub-par player development that implies.

It's really very simple. We keep regurgitating coaches and systems like most people change underwear. As such there's constant turnover of the roster to fit the schemes of the latest great hype.

Only when you find stability can you groom players to take over into stable systems. The fans scream for the constant turnover in coaching staffs. The when they get their way they try to find someone else to blame for the roster turnover.
