That's why you find your target and go get your guy. If you can't accomplish that, you end up where the Browns always are. Picking from what's left after every other team got their target. This makes no sense Pit.. Who another team targets and who the Browns target are totally different targets. A team needs to target the right guy that fits. Just because those other teams hired their guy doesn't mean that guy would have been the right fit in Cleveland. And if the Browns have a Target in a guy who is Sill in the playoffs...Then the chances of them getting their guy seems pretty good. Besides all those teams who hired their guy already...well their guy didn't get into the playoffs. NYG hired a guy we had no interest in. Zero impact to our search. Panthers hired a guy the Browns had zero interest in. Redskins hired a guy we had zero interest in. Dallas hired a guy we were interested in. He was my top choice. But - he's the ONLY guy who was on the Brown's radar who is off the board. And I doubt whether McCarthy was our guy -- and if he was I don't think the Browns were his choice. It's like were in the first round of the draft with the 5th pick ..... we know for a fact that Dallas is taking McCarthy with the first pick .... and we know that picks 2-3-4 are going to be guys that we do not want .... and you someone thinks we should trade up to #2 anyway.

Hey, the Haslams haven't gotten it right so far. There's no logical reason to think the same people who have screwed it up over and over again will get it right this time.
Blind faith and hope I guess..... maybe. I don't think the Haslams screwed it up last year. Dorsey hired Freddie, they didn't. I could probably say the same with Chud. I don't think they were ever comfortable with that hire. Pettine and Hue were on Haslam. Not sure if I am missing anybody,,,Chud replaced who? LOL...can't keep track. Now, I suppose you could argue that Haslam screwed it up because he hired John, who hired Freddie.

I actually feel okay with what is going on.. I feel a lot better waiting on hiring a new HC then if Kitchens was working on his play book in Berea. I have to agree, and it hurts to say that. I liked the idea of Freddie Kitchens as coach of the Browns.

Only spin doctors would make up BS claiming the HC candidate with the highest rate of success in the NFL as an NFL HC being hired elsewhere was dodging a bullet. Stop it. He didn’t say it was dodging a bullet, he said it MIGHT be a better thing. Quit hyperventilating. It's called panic attack.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if ALL the present candidates turned down the job. Just freakin' hilarious. Wouldn't it be hilarious if you tripped and skinned your knee.

Wikipedia doesn't make statements like:

Anyone can change a wiki page. It usually gets changed right back. True. After posting what I did, it has now been changed about 20 times, but if you go back in the history to the revision I was talking about, it was changed by a person that seems to make a ton of changes to coaches profiles https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?tit...get=98.18.30.57 So they are either making those changes as part of a job, or they have a very strange hobby.

I'm voting for "very strange hobby". It isn't surprising in the least.

The Haslam's own the Browns. They have the final say over approving everything and signing the checks. However, blaming the underlings worked so well for him at Pilot Flying J, I'm not surprised that same tactic is being employed now.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Ok, regarding “leftovers”, if you had to pick one, would you go with Stefanski, or Joe Judge? If you go with Stefanski, then it wouldn’t be a “leftover” it would be a preference. You mean my preference of the leftovers. At this point, without any real HC experience, other than the one failed by McDaniels, they're all a crap shoot. That's why you find your target and go get your guy. If you can't accomplish that, you end up where the Browns always are. Picking from what's left after every other team got their target. I know you liked an experienced HC candidate, as did I. However, the team, for whatever reason, didn’t pick them. That’s it. Calling the guys still left in the playoffs “leftovers” does them a great disservice. Let's not confuse what happened here. We don't know that the Browns didn't offer him the job. What we do know is after the interviews he chose to take the Dallas job. What you're doing is speculating on whether he was offered the job by the Browns or not. He may have just paid us a courtesy visit as a professional. I certainly don't know and neither do you. McCarthy is stale bread. It got to where Rodgers couldn't work with his stale ass anymore. Why would you want that? Bill Billick won a Superbowl. Why not pimp him? I think you just argue because you think it's cool. I consider you a friend. We have met 3-4 times. We had a friendly bet which I lost and I promptly sent you $50. Your friend Jaft was in the hospital, I sent flowers to his room. I can say that to you because you know I am not just some blowhard on a message board. McCarthy wanted Dallas, and got it. Rivera was hired maybe even before we canned Freddie. I think the last thing we needed to do was hire the first swinging member to cross our path.

I had no idea that Rodgers knew what it tales to be a good NFL HC. If you wish to stick up for the opinion of yet another spoiled NFL player, have at it.
Rodgers numbers are no better under the new HC.
I know it wouldn't be very "Browns of me" to want a proven winner who has a SB ring and made several playoff appearances.

Holmgren had a Superbowl ring. They don't impress me all that much.
I am glad they have them, but that doesn't meant squat moving forward.
Bill has more than anybody....at least I think so. It doesn't mean he gets another. I might even bet he doesn't.

McCarthy's problem is that he thought he'd made it after the Super Bowl, and he stopped keeping up with the times. He kept trying to do the same things that other teams had figured out. It's looking more and more like the "changes" he was going to make might have been all for show and getting the job.

You gave one example. Do you know how many examples I can provide? And thats just with the Browns. You mean you're going to tell me that BB moving forward with a 43 year old QB or trying to break in a rookie QB, at his age, may not get another ring? Do tell. It seems you prefer the flavor of the month instead. You want to bet who does better? McCarthy in Dallas or which ever leftover the Browns hire?

I was telling you about QB's like Mahomes, Baker, Jackson, Wilson, etc 15 years ago....how it was the wave of the future. You and most of the board laughed....well, now I am laughing. The future is here, and guess what? I was right. Now, it takes pro coaches who can coach those guys to their strengths. Stale, old coaching isn't going to get it done. The next wave you are going to see if guys like Belicheck retire to be replaced by Lincoln Reilley, Dabo Sweeny types. Learn to see trends. Take you shot, and profit. I did. Have I ever told you I love McDonalds? I love McDonalds. I know some know the story. Let's just say McDonald's is the APPLE of my eye, or under a SOFTMICRO scope.

So no bet on whether the new Browns hire has a better overall record with the Browns than McCarthy has with Dallas?

I believe I saw if Saleh was hired we could see Mike McDaniel as OC and Gus Bradley as DC. 2 good coordinators... these are factors when hiring a HC and perhaps it boosted Saleh to the top?

That combination sounds really nice to me. I mentioned before, McDaniel would mean Shanahan's Offense. And I can't think of a better Offense for Baker, Chubb, and Hunt. (Not to mention Landry and OBJ) But not sure how he could get Gus Bradley as that is a lateral move from the Chargers...unless they ad Assistant HC to the title...(Same with others notion of Schwartz as DC)

Is it their QB? Their WR's? Their RB situation? I don't think their talent is any better at all. It's a nice jab at Dorsey but we have plenty of talent. Still some holes to fill but we have the skill positions to fill in around like we've never had before. But then you already know that.

Obviously you made it known McDaniels is your guy. No problem.
Honestly, we have no way of knowing how it will turn out no matter who it is that gets the job.
Stefanski is no Freddie. He is his own man.
How he does will be determined by many factors if he is the selection.
He does not equal Freddie. Freddie dug his own grave.
