Wouldn't you love to have his frequent flier miles?

From all indications this sounds like a done deal.
Makes sense. He is a qualified guy who knows KS well.
He has had other opportunities but because of a long history with KS this appears to work for him.
I will not fall victim to high expectations but KS and GP on the surface seems like a good hire.

I agree, it looks solid. Time can prove it wasn't. We followed a through process and didn't waiver. It looks like everyone in the building will be working with and pulling for each other.

This should be a solid hire then. Won't believe it until it is done.
No koolaid for me, thanks. This should happen soon, I imagine.

No koolaid for me, thanks. This should happen soon, I imagine. I don't think you have to worry. I am sure all the parameters of the job were laid out during the initial interview. The lines of communication, who does what, who reports to who and the basic parameters of the positions salary. The fact he is headed back is the only signal you need. He wouldn't be headed back if he wasn't interested in the position. Everybody knows the pay scale for a GM position. Everybody knows the GM gets his own room while on the road. Everybody knows they get a nice travel and entertainment expense account. He gets hired.

Picking out his office space?
Hope to heargreat news soon then. Naw, first he had to track down the secretary. Then when he found her (or him) they freaked out because they thought the little piece of paper was a Pilot J gas receipt and travel voucher. Not being stupid, they told him to hold on while they contacted legal. The problem there was no one knew which legal to contact: The Browns organization OR Jimmy's personal attorney. Then the fire alarms went off after seeing a bunch of smoke rising from Jimmy's office. The ball boy, who is still relatively naive at 30yrs old thought it was the physical manifestation of metaphorical smoke coming out of his ears for still being angry at such a bad season. Later after some reflection, some people in Berea thought that the metaphorical smoke looked an awful lot like the contents of a bunch of filing cabinets, Jimmy's personal brief case, and a previously unknown wall safe he kept hidden behind the seductively posed Brownie Elf calendar he kept in his office. DePo ran the numbers on whether or not the Browns could afford a scandal (he ran the numbers after Dee made the request saying "I'm asking for a friend"). Once DePo said "Yeah, we have a little room in the budget" plus analytics shows that the correct amount of paranoia and the fear of uncertainty over the stability of the organization nets a 4% increase in running back production balanced against the 9% decrease in WR production. After Jimmy made sure the homeless guy had a cardboard box cozy enough for two and that he was cool with a roommate, he walked toward Paton with his hands held in front of him. 7 hours and 59 minutes after he walked in the building Paton got his parking validated.

That was delightful. I can see why he came back then! I was afraid it was difficult.
Glad to see we look after our own so thoroughly. Thanx fer the giggle. Needed one tonight.
Go, Browns!

If he does not sign.
Then most likely he turned it down. Which would be a bad indicator.
My fear and it has been my fear for years is Haslam.
At first it could be easily blamed on his inexperience. But he has been the root of the problem. And now his reputation has alarmed the NFL. People don't trust him. And he remains front and center in all that takes place inside the organization.
So potential candidates for any position are on guard and rightfully so.
Yes they get payed. But failure haunts a career. Guys don't get many chances. And they don't remember the why's.

Hmm, I thought it was a done deal. We’ll see what happens now
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Something is not right.
I am guessing Paton has some reservations. When you fly a guy in for a second interview. Then spend eight hours with him and he flies back with no deal?
Seems odd to me. They should have been able to address everything.
KS was evasive. "We are taking a methodical approach."
If others start coming back for a second interview. My guess is Paton is out as a candidate.

I agree. I thought his heading back was a indicator that it was pretty much a wrap. Don't know what to think now?

The team took the same approach when hiring the head coach. They finished the final interview and then took a couple days to make the decision. Not rushing is a positive.

Ya, cause the problems we’ve had in the past were because we rushed ... One of them, yes. Taking Johnny Manziel was a rushed decision. Taking Justin Gilbert was a rushed decision. Hiring John Dorsey the same day Sashi Brown was fired was a rushed decision. The main problem is Haslam. Making him sit on his hands a few days before making the final call is probably wise.

Paul Depodesta is focused on the "process". It's easy to figure that they did their second interview with Paton, said, we'll get back to you soon, and now they sit in a group and discuss their findings/decision. It's Thursday. No way Paton is just going to rush down to the senior bowl and interrupt what's going on down there anyway. He'd do more harm than good. Right now, nothing is gained of hiring anyone right away, except knowing that you've got your guy in hand. The search committee might just have to get together to make their decision. I mean, i've bought three homes, sold one. Always had pre-approval beforehand when buying, but i never made an offer/decision on the spot. Always took some time to discuss with my wife, and then gotten back later. Once we choose a GM, many folks careers are tied to that person (Stefanski and Depodesta). It'd be best to make sure that we choose the right one, especially when they'll have control over the roster

It depends on how one defines a "rush decision".
You see, some people already have a plan in place. They know the direction they're headed in. So the decision is quick and immediate. If that decision turns out to be positive, people do not call it a "rushed decision".
At that juncture they call that things like decisive, sticking to the plan, purposeful, resolute, confident and steadfast. Some even say they had their target and didn't settle for less.
What one calls such decisions is based on perception.

We drafted Manziel when everything showed we should have drafted Teddy Bridgewater. We drafted Gilbert after not having met with him in the pre draft process. Haslam doesn't get the benefit of the doubt on past decisions.
