Well, well, well, contrary to all the negativity splashed across our screens every day and the Hater Posts on here, Gallup found 84 percent of us are satisfied with the overall quality of our lives.

The Gallup survey, conducted from Jan. 2 to 15, also found since Trump's inauguration there has been double-digit increases in public satisfaction with the nation's economy, security from terrorism and military strength.

But alas, most of us already knew this. thumbsup

Suicidal people are not in their right minds when they make the fatal decision. Unfortunately they give up on life too soon. They probably have no resource to talk to.

Not sure what you are trying to convey. There will always be suicides, unfortunately.

How much of that has anything to do with Trump and the lyin Republicans that hide witnesses and documents and how much of that is because you work hard for your money, life and family?

Trump had zero to do with where im at currently.

Obama really did have an impact on my life, a little bit financially but spiritually really.

i was in iraq on a 15 month deployment when Obama was elected. we had just got off this god forsaken mission (nothing bad happened, but a lot of truck breakdowns during the convoy turned what was suppose to be a 4 hour turn n burn into a 19 hour grind), and one of my boys ran up on us when we got back SCREAMING about obama winning election. something just clicked bro, and i started getting motivated to learn about finances and the stock market and such. a bunch of us opened up brokerage accounts to invest in the market not knowing crap about it, but we knew obama was gonna fix the economy and such.

obama winning meant soooo freaking much to a lot of us, man. it was just like....if he can break through those barriers, we can do anything.

i mean he got called a foreign born muslim, GOP vowed to make him a one term president, became the party of no, and he STILL won reelection with all through all of that crap.

such a massive impact as to how i operate today.

Satisfied enough because there’s ample things to distract them from the terrible on the outside.

Just like here. People satisfied to not see opposing views in front of their face so they can discuss everyday life and not be challenged.

The American Plutocratic System does a fine job of telling every citizen to not look behind the curtain.

Probably several, as far as happiness/quality of life goes. If money were no issue and I had no ties to keep me here, I'd leave for sure.

But more to your point, we all grew up believing America was the greatest country on earth because that is what we were always told. And I remember feeling much like you do about this country. But facts, time, and disillusionment has changed that for me.

Brother-in-law is living in Mexico, about an hour out of Mexico City, and he loves it there. Of course that is where his wife is from, so that make all the difference for him.

Can't really comment on what it's really like anywhere else. Just what I read and hear about second hand.

I’m not your friend, so drop that word when referring to me. You have to earn that.

Tell me what you know about current situations in the following subjects: social mobility in America, the purpose of Dr. King’s second march on Washington, struggles for rights and decency that impact those who aren’t straight white Christian men, which current pillars of America are built on socialism, the impeachment process as it pertains to the House of Representatives, whataboutism and the USSR, and what the Treaty of Tripoli established regarding our country.

If you attempt to engage with me before answering these questions, I will kindly remind you about these until you answer all of these queries.

It doesn't sound like you want to hear a differing perspective. In fact, it reads as though you are preaching, instead of trying to learn how others feel.

It comes across as you feeling you are better than others, and if one doesn't bow down, forget them.

Actually...

You, DC, JFan, YTown, Jules, GM, MrTed and Tulsa have engaged in discussion with me over these topics since 2011. We may disagree a lot, sometime we agree, but at least you usually make the effort to consider a viewpoint other than your own.

Spoiler alert: I’ve learned from you and those I’ve mentioned.

I only wish to engage in discussion with people similar to you. You try to make the effort to consider the other side, and I try my best to step in your shoes like Atticus Finch asks all of us to do.

The majority of opposing voices that visit this quarantined section sound like they come straight from Stormfront, and engage in bad faith discussion. I ain’t got time for that.

Ok, you saw. Do you know why MLK was about to march on Washington for a second time?

Engaging in “how young/old” arguments is a logical fallacy. I suggest you shy away from the use of logical fallacy.

What does that have to do with knowing about anything he asked you?

I was alive then but I was young. The only thing I figured out at the time was only people who were trying to help the common man and those discriminated against were being assassinated.

We already have a surplus of know nothing trolls on here bro, he's trying to engage with you on an intellectual level or see if you are capable of such engagement. But he will completely understand if you know nothing about the country you live in other than what you've heard in an echo chamber full of like minded people.

This is how it looks when you can't answer questions you were asked. You just throw crap against the wall in hopes something sticks instead.

So because you can't answer - or because you feel threatened you revert to the age thing? All that does is reflect on you. But, carry on! All good.

So far both sides of this thread seem like illogical ramblers making personal attacks and ignoring things that don't fit their vociferous, prefabricated arguments.

So, basically, more evidence of our country in microcosm.

Smh.

True enough.

It seems we need to recalibrate our sense of satisfaction.

Would you like to refute any of my viewpoints.

I’m waiting for empirical peer review data that life is better for minorities today than it was during Obama.

I’ll be waiting.
