just do NOT attempt to use denatured alcohol. The additives in it can be absorbed through the skin and make you sick.

Vatican City has their first case.
Vietnam, which had previously cleared all active cases, again has active cases.
Of note: Germany has over a thousand cases. Not a single death.
Montenegro and Albania appear to be the only countries in Europe that remain untouched.
To track for later: Italy now has effectively as many cases (7300 vs 7700) as China had on January 29th. It'll be interesting to see how they differ on a week-to-week basis.

Honest question: Why not just use soap? I understand when you're out and about...........I have hand sanitizer in my work vehicle, and most public places have it as well.

I think out and about is what they are most referencing. When you're home, soap and warm water work just fine. Just be sure and do it for at least 20 seconds.

Soap and warm water is available at every public building, and private building I've been at.
I have, for YEARS, when entering a public building, pushed the door open with my elbow.
I'm not trying to poo poo corona virus, but honestly, even Dr. Drew is saying this is a media driven panic. As well as my personal doctor.
A friend of mine flew to LA, heading to Hawaii..........she read all about how everyone in the airports and on the planes were wearing masks. She saw hardly anyone wearing masks.
Just, in my opinion, a big kerfluffle. The media is driving this, just as they do most "crises".

I'm not much of a germaphobe myself. I keep wet ones with me when I'm fishing to get the fish smell off my hands before I eat a sandwich or when I've been out shooting to get the gun powder residue off my hands. Who knows when that may come in handy.

I took hand sanitizer to the game yesterday.
Didnt need to use it much. Except at train station because everyone pushes the buttons on the ticket machine

My brother-in-law works for them, too (Ohio CAT). We work very closely with CAT; we make the GPS systems (among many other things) for their heavy machinery. Whoa, anybody else see this, Caterpilar makes ditch diggers, and bulldozers, and steamrollers, They don't travel long distances unless on the back of a flatbed semi, If you get lost in a field digging a ditch and need a gps to find where you are, we're doomed and also, if the secret society can't trust a regular guy to use a bulldozer in a field without keeping tabs on the every movement with a gps, we're also doomed. besides, gps is always outdated and thinks your are in a field when you are on some roads anyways.

I agree with this. Not poo pooing either, but the panic is just crazy. And, reading through this thread it seems to thrive on reporting the numbers or sharing headlines etc. Keep in mind, at the moment, most people who have passed away (in the US) have been old, frail or their health was already compromised. There are SO many different things we touch in public that could potentially transmit any number of germs. Even after you wash your hands and sanitize them as soon as you touch something else they are contaminated again. And, I firmly believe the more sanitized our lives become the more susceptible we become to germs. That said, of course exercise caution and good hygiene, but other than that you can only control what you can control and one has to live life.

Wrong use of GPS. Ours allows one machine to grade a field to within 1" of level over a distance of like a 1/2 mile.
We also do automated farming, etc...

If you don’t mean automated organ farming, we can’t be boys.

I love the Survival of the Fittest mentality when it comes to human beings. Who the hell cares if the elderly and weak succumb to illnesses. They are just using our oxygen. Btw-------------Karma is b..... I never understood how some folks age discriminate. I didn't understand it when I was 15 and I don't understand it now.

Given the run on cleaning supplies, I'm wondering what kind of hygiene people were practicing before the outbreak.
It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

I'll respond since most of what you describe is actually my posting. I fully admit that much of it comes across as kinda alarmist, but that's not the intent. The intent is to share unvarnished information. I do not think that any of it qualifies as 'panic', either. It simply is what it is: keeping tabs on an actually alarming situation. No different than when a natural disaster happens and people watch the body count reports come in. Like I said in an earlier post - it's like watching a slow-motion train wreck: You can already see where it is going to end up, but you're also kinda hoping it doesn't and you keep watching to see if it does.

Basically, it's a morbid curiosity, I think... are they going to actually reign this in, or is this one the real deal??
So far, the data strongly suggests that this is the real deal, which heightens things.

I'll address this post to you since addressing it to others would only spark controversy. It still might. It's not meant as political though. An informative thread like this is necessary. The reason why is simple. Because of mixed messages we are getting from different sources within our own government. If the message we were receiving was united and consistent we wouldn't need somewhere to separate the wheat from the chaff. But alas we do.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Thank you; that's pretty much EXACTLY the reason I put my foot down so hard on page 1 of this thread after moving the other one to the politics board. I've gone into the other thread in the politics board today... it's utterly worthless for actual information and that is what needed to be avoided with this thread.

If this wasn't so serious I'd start a pool on the last state to get hit. Ohio still at zero cases as of now. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/coronavirus-us-cases.html

I'd go ahead and start the pool, anyway, lol... but I also tend to not worry about offending people My top three guesses, in no particular order, would be Alaska, North Dakota, New Mexico. I have to admit, I'm pretty surprised that there are none in Louisiana, yet. ESPECIALLY with all this happening around/during Mardi Gras.

I have been rather sick lately myself. Went to the Dr, they said I had signs of the flu. Gave me a flu test and was negative. I asked what if its CV. They said, we really don't have reason to believe that's what it is so there's no need to test for it. I feel better (had it about 4 days) already after they had me start antibiotics (said I have a respiratory infection). But for all I know, I could have had it. I don't think I do, but the fact remains, a lot of places are just still not even testing.

Depending on where you're located, most places don't have the capacity to test, yet.
I'm surprised that with flu symptoms and presenting with respiratory issues that they wouldn't test, anyway, just for good measure. Maybe there was some other symptom precluding that?

Montenegro and Albania appear to be the only countries in Europe that remain untouched.
and Montenegro is the last man standing!! Whomever had that square, come on up and collect your winnings. It's pretty amazing, really, when you realize that this thing is barely 90 days old and has the entire world medical community and all governments trying to prevent it from spreading... and it still does. ok, next up.. South America: which country will be last?

Oklahoma seemed like a safe bet to me to be one of that last. Then some guy came back from his Italy trip and ruined our chances to win the pot.

Iran has released some 70,000 prisoners because of the outbreak. I'm still searching for reason or explanation of the logic, but I'm suspecting not enough people to be guards??

This past weekend I felt like I had Corona's big brother. I hate the flu. I still feel like a train wreck.

I'm a hermit for right now, because I don't want to spread it to anyone else.
Fortunately I still had several cans of Lysol here from when my old dog Duke died. I can give everything a good spray down once I feel like I am becoming human again.

Two members of US Congress go into isolation over virus Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Arizona Representative Paul Gosar have placed themselves into a 14-day quarantine after determining they had contact with a man attending the Conservative Political Action Conference, who was later confirmed to have the coronavirus.
Several other senators and members of the House of Representatives were also at the event, where US President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence both spoke.
The White House says there is no indication that either of them met or were in "close proximity" to the man who was confirmed to have the virus.
