If people want to laugh at me, that's fine...
But I'm hoping we mend fences with Randall and give him a one-year (if lucrative) prove-it deal. He'd be proving that last year is in the past and he's going to get his head screwed on straight with the new coaching staff and go back to playing well. Randall quit last year. I don't want anyone like that near my team.

I would sign Matthews in a heartbeat if it was a fairly reasonable deal. He is a legacy player. His father is a legend that every Browns fan loved. He's still a very good Defensive end and could play opposite Miles. We need another pass rusher and he would fit the bill nicely.
Of COURSE, you sign Nick Chubb to a contract when it is time. He's one of the best running backs in the league and with this offense that actually means something. Allowing one of the best players in the league to walk because you think the position is "devalued" is crazy. Ask the Titans if the running back position is important or not... For that matter ask the Rams. Since Gurley got hurt they haven't done anything. If he were healthy they would have gladly kept him on that contract. The same goes for Seattle. When they had Beast Mode they were dangerous. Without that stud RB, they aren't nearly as scary.

I didn’t watch much of the Rams, so I don’t know the answer: but was he productive last season? Is his age catching up to him? Is he even worth a look?

I think Clay Matthews started the season on fire (off the top of my head he had like 6 sacks super quickly...once again I'm sure that number may be incorrect) he got hurt...missed a chunk of the season, then came back...but I recall he started on fire...Injuries and price tag will have to be monitored with him

Stephen Watson @WISN_Watson · 19m Sources tell me Melvin Gordon is close to finalizing a deal with the Denver Broncos.

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet Source: The #Steelers are signing TE Eric Ebron to a 2-year deal worth $12M. Another target for Big Ben.
I have a feeling that’ll be a good fit

Everson Griffen set to leave Vikings; Browns, Cowboys have interest in Pro Bowl pass rusher By Cody Benjamin 1h ago • 2 min read After 10 years with the Minnesota Vikings, Everson Griffen is moving on. Almost a month after opting out of his contract with the team, the veteran pass rusher has cut off negotiations with Minnesota regarding a potential reunion, setting his sights instead on landing elsewhere in free agency. That's according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, who relayed Friday a statement from Griffen's agent, Brian Murphy: "We have broken off talks with Minnesota because they have to spend their money elsewhere and we decided to now focus our attention on free agency." The 32-year-old Griffen initiated his potential departure by opting out, voiding the final three seasons of a four-year extension inked in 2017, but all signs previously pointed to the defensive end re-signing with the Vikings on a smaller deal earlier this offseason. Coach Mike Zimmer, in fact, even went out of his way to say Minnesota wanted Griffen back, and Griffen himself said following the 2019 season that he desired to be a "Viking for life." Now, it appears the divorce is final. It's unclear if money remained a sticking point, but the Vikings remain one of the most cap-strapped teams in the NFL, even after cutting other notable defensive starters like Xavier Rhodes and Linval Joseph to save money. Griffen, on the other hand, is expected to find a relatively hot market now that he's publicly moved on from Minnesota. CBS Sports' Patrik Walker reports that the Dallas Cowboys have interest in the 32-year-old defensive end, and Griffen himself has already hinted the interest is mutual. Dallas just recently struck a three-year agreement with fellow veteran D-lineman Gerald McCoy but figures to be in the market for help opposite Demarcus Lawrence. The Cleveland Browns are also a likely suitor, according to a league source, as they weigh the future of DE Olivier Vernon. The Browns have been more than willing to shell out money for defensive help this offseason, they remain flush with cap space, and they've got several notable connections to Griffen from his time in Minnesota -- including coach Kevin Stefanski and defensive assistant Jeff Howard, who spent seven years on the Vikings' staff. Griffen missed five games in 2018 due to some headlining mental-health issues, but he rebounded in 2019 with eight sacks and the fourth Pro Bowl nod of his career. The former All-Pro has played at least 15 games in eight of his last nine seasons, and he's had at least eight sacks in six of his last eight years. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/evers...impression=true

I guess we have to decide: who’s better, Vernon or Griffen?

I still think a lot of folks underrate Vernon on here. I thought he was a huge help for Myles when both were in the lineup together. Unfortunately, injuries and a suspension derailed it a bit...........but, the Browns have something special w/those two guys. No need to blow it up.

I agree with that take. My only beef is that Vernon can't stay healthy a point a friend of mine, who is a Giants fan, mentioned when we traded for him. When Vernon is healthy he may be in the top 20 best at his position especially with MG playing on the same line. I say keep him and hope for good healthy; and no suspensions!!

Yeah, the injuries are a concern. Of course, so are mental health concerns.

I've read some opinions that basically stated that Vernon played fairly well last year...especially including areas that aren't stat-related.
I think his performance AND his health are secondary to the $$$ he's due to make...in the big picture anyway. JMO

Yeah, the injuries are a concern. Of course, so are mental health concerns. Vers...just what mental health concerns you talking about?
Anyone can have mental health issues due to imbalances of the natural chemicals in the brain. Those conditions are treatable and once a proper balance is found, that individual might be fine.
Everson Griffen is a "warrior", earning Pro Bowl honors in 4 of his last 5 years...including in 2019, year 10 of his career. Griffen missed only 9 starts over the 6 seasons.
Given Olivier Vernon's inability to stay healthy the last 3 seasons, adding quality depth might be a good idea. Vernon missed 15 starts over the last 3 seasons, including missing 6 games last season.
I would sign Griffen...

Griffen has acknowledged suffering some kind of mental health disorder but also to getting treatment for the problem. It might be Depression, not sure. Apparently it is under control enough that he played with it last season. The specifics might be hard to come by because of HIPPA considerations.

From memory, Griffin was threatening to shoot someone at the team's hotel. He then was said to break into a teammate's home. The police allegedly arrested him, but the Vikings denied his arrest. So, I'm not sure if he was or not. Shortly afterwards, his wife called the police on him. He wasn't reacting well to medical personnel and the police assisted in putting him in an ambulance and taking him to a mental health facility.
I'm not claiming that we shouldn't sign him. I'm saying that it would be something that might make me hesitate to sign him. You may disagree and that is fine.

Anyone think our free agency choices are based primarily on money ball stats? Might explain why we have no namers being signed. Maybe on moneyball stats standards they are ideal?
