If Baker sucks you just trade for Aaron Rodgers and then prosper. Duh.

Sometimes, I find myself having to take a moment or two to interpret Myles' quotes. The last two are good examples of that.

But considering his weapons, if he does have a bad year, we probably need to accept that Baker is a QB who can be good when everything else falls into place. He's not going to put the team on his shoulders. So not a true franchise QB, but a Ryan Tannehill type. I'm holding out hope for the former but after what I've witnessed in TC to date, I'm concerned it's going to be the latter.
I'm pretty close to this (especially the last sentence). Though (imo) with the "peculiarities" in place for the upcoming 2020 season, it's going to be difficult to gauge much - as some other posters have suggested. I look forward to the 2021 season as a better gauge for him.

We're going to win 1 game this season ... if we're lucky .......

Is that in the first week or the second Good luck with that. New coaches. New schemes. No off-season camps, and seemingly daily interruptions to our limited time to get ready. 1 win .... if we're lucky.

Watched the livestream of practice today. A couple of thoughts.
Baker looked better but not great. Only really had one or two bad throws today. His first pass was tipped for a pick 6. Great play by the DE Gustin and ran back by TakiTaki.
Gustin looked good. TakiTaki looked good. Higgins had a really good day with 2 TD's. Bryant had a TD catch in quadruple coverage off a perfect pass from Baker. DPJ had an 80 yard TD on a pass from Keenum.
Chubb and Hunt look explosive.

No off-season camps, and seemingly daily interruptions to our limited time to get ready. 1 win .... if we're lucky. I'm starting to feel this way too. This team is going to have no idea what hits them week 1 against a team that probably needs very little practice. Stefanski is going to learn very early on, this lackadaisical, no sense of urgency approach will not be tolerated by the Cleveland media much past week 1. And I'm not talking about sitting out a practice to protest. The whole camp has looked lackluster to me. Baker has 3 or 4 crappy plays in a row, and it's on to Case. Would like to see Baker and team work until they get it right. If McCarthy is a success in Dallas....
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Hard to know what to expect. So much preparation time has been shot.
Wills is going to be way behind. He needed all of what a normal camp looks like plus pre-season games.
He is a rookie. Moving to a new position. Not easy. I expect him to get beat often.
Stefanski will have to cover for him. Expect mis-direction, roll outs, throws to TE's and backs. Quick plays. Rare 7 step drops with slow developing deep patterns. Lots of running plays.
I watched Hards Knocks with the Rams and Chargers. They looked terrible. So much time spent on virus avoidance. Everything looked disjointed.
Experienced stable teams have a huge advantage. Saints, KC, those teams will be in much better shape.
However, there is still two plus weeks to go. And they will need to use every minute.
Weights, meetings and film can only do so much. You have to play football to get better.
Veterans should be in a better position. Young players really need learning and they will not get the reps.
My guess is game one will be basic. Game plan what you know and can execute.
Defenses will most likely be ahead of offenses.
I expect things will improve by game four.
If we can win two of the first four. We should start to see better football.
Overall I am in a wait and see mode. I hope the team can show steady improvement week to week.

I would expect to see a lot of 2 TE sets with a lot of chipping on Wills defender.
Sometimes that is all it takes is to chip the defender back on to the center line.

That quote by Nate is taken out of context - I'm reading the full quote and this was in direct reference to the team taking time to talk about Jacob Blake and how the team could make positive change on social justice issues. Stefanski said he would support what the players decided. I like it... we've had similar opportunities at my company for those that wanted to discuss the current political environment following George Floyd's murder. Hopefully this is a one time, clear the air, feel positive about the decisions they make and move on.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

If Baker sucks you just trade for Aaron Rodgers and then prosper. It's funny you mention that because I had a thought or two about that. If Baker falters significantly, do we go the Tampa route and bring in Rodgers (with his old QB coach) and present him with a significant offensive arsenal, the likes of which he's never really had? One thing that doesn't line up with that, though, is he's not a fan of the zone stretch apparently since I think that's what LaFleur runs. I know they had some friction on that front. The draft seems to be the confirmation of QB to head coach friction.

I have absolutely no proof of this, but I could see Rodgers ending up in New England w/Belichick. For years, there has been talk about Brady/Rodgers and who is the better qb.
I also think Cam could be an interesting story. He is on a one-year prove it deal. If he is healthy, he could be a highly sought-after qb next off-season.

I am VERY curious to see how Cam does with them this season, and curious to see how their offense looks now.

Interesting article.
I like to read what the people involved have to say way more than opinions of outsiders.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/29745264/all-ball-baker-mayfield-enters-year-3-no-excuses
I am hopeful that the relationship between Baker and KS becomes like that between Sean Payton and Brees.
It is encouraging to read that Baker is doing what has to be done.
It is unfortunate that this year is complicated by the virus.

General reply regarding Baker this year....
I think he has to show SOMETHING. He has to show that he CAN BE the dude. That includes maturity/resiliency on and off the field, and show that he can or can improve on the things that make a fQB (we've discussed these at nauseum, not going to rehash). He doesn't have to show that he's there, but he does have to show progress in getting there. I also think this year is going to feature a REALLY rough start, especially on offense, with all of the missed time and newness.

bottom line this season is no QB should fail with the talent we have on offense..none. At worst he becomes a game manager behind an elite running attack and short passing offense. But this offense can be whatever it needs to be.

I'm not going to say I agree with the comparison. But in answer to the question, that depends on what the ultimate goal is. If mediocrity at best is your goal, an Andy Dalton type QB is fine. It would certainly be better than what we've seen overall since our comeback in 1999.
If you have your sites and goals set higher than that, no it wouldn't be a good thing.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I agree except when it comes to the OL.. It is going to take some time to see how it will play out.. A good Qb that makes the right reads quickly can make a good OL look good.. all the greats do that.. look at the trash Manning had in Indy, probably could have played another 5 years if he didn't get beat behind that line..lol. We have two question marks in LT and RG, no team has a blue chip across the board line, as some point the QB is going to have to adapt as well as playcalling and just make adjustments
