- Agreed, 6-3 is good.

- For whatever reason, the 6-3 does not seem real. Maybe it's the schedule. Maybe it's that we've only put up a decent showing against one good team. If we're calling Indy a good team. At any rate, glad to be 6-3 but it seems fragile. Like if I say it too often it will evaporate.

- So good to see Chubb and Teller back in the game.

- Good rotation with Chubb and Hunt. They stay fresher a lot longer than HOU's D did.

- LOL at the one announcer that said he's like to see more consistency from Teller. He's just the highest rated OG in the league.

- Chubb is football smart, team first. But he ticked a lot of people off who bet CLE to cover. Then again, they picked CLE to cover. So that's on them.

- I may be wrong, but it seemed to me Watt was not a huge factor.

- Second game in a row (LV) where, on the scoreboard, the D looked as though they did a good job. Prevented the big play.

- Unlike the LV game, the D managed some stops.

- However, our D absolutely blows at tackling. I mean, it is embarrassingly bad. Almost Biblically poor.

- Sandejo is still Sandejo. Ball carriers bouncing off him as if he is barely an inconvenience. Really bad in coverage. On HOU's TD he was covering a very empty part of the end zone. No one within 5 yards of him.

- Is it me, or does it seem Sandejo jumps on the pile?

- I know I am pretty harsh when it comes to Sandejo. I do not question his heart or his desire. It's just that he is not good at his job. And that effects my favorite team.

- Stefanski has not yet made me question his clock management. But I do not understand those time outs at the end of the 1st half.

How does a league celebrating its 100th season only recognize the 53 most recent championships?

Agree on the timeouts at the end of the half. First time i questioned his decision making in that regard. I still don't know why he did it.

This is the kind of common sense post I live for.

Not every missed throw means that a team's QB needs to be replaced.
Not every dropped pass means a WR needs to get thrown upon the chopping block.

__________

Base-level post-game:

Whether CLE plays at home in inclement weather, or on the road in a dome... the answer to The Challenge is simple: Make every team that plays us choke on a steady diet of run game- right down their throats.

There is simply no NFL answer for a Chubb/Hunt-based attack, if

1. Browns can commit to The Run Game as their identity
2. Baker Mayfield can competently manage a game.

At this point- in Year One of this brand-new admin/Kevin Stefanski HC story, 'Game Manager' should absolutely be the only role Baker Mayfield is encouraged to learn and master... no matter what 'Season 2020' brings.

The biggest takeaway for me today was the last drive. We were able to drive over 90 yards on the ground and run off almost 5 minutes off the clock. That was a superb drive when we needed it most.

What are the thoughs on that unsportmanlike call on that tackle? I’ve tried remembering who it was but can’t, lol. I thought the wr was in the air and the only thing to do was take him down.

Extend Teller now. It looks like it will only get more expensive if we wait. Once he got back in the groove, we were rolling.

Was nice to see Chubb looking healthy, too.

Mack Wilson looked like he might be getting back closer to full speed as well.

Still don't believe Sendejo can possibly be our best option at safety. Watson was staring down the left side of the endzone on his TD and Sendejo was just hanging out in no man's land. He might be able to recite the defense to you backwards, but his instincts appear to be non-existent. I'm ready to see what Moffatt's got. Let Sendejo help get guys lined up from the sidelines, though I feel like they should have a pretty good idea on their own by now.

Seems like every game of every season we get burnt by the Qb running.
Need to figure out a way to fix that

I honestly think a lot of it is our lack of speed on defense. We seem so SLOW sometimes ... especially our LBs

pdawg, that was a great drive. The Texans were commited to stopping the run, they knew we were going to run and we still ran it down the throat of their defense. Great blocking up front and a great two headed monster at running back!

Baker 60% w/ 132yrds ZERO interceptions QBR 85.6.
In that wind it was a very good and well managed performance.
Chubb & Hunt each over 100 yards and their difference in running styles caused havoc.
I have to say this is the toughest I've ever seen Hunt fight.
He and Chubb feed off each other.
O line pretty much made Watt a non-factor AND w/ for the most part single coverage. They are gelling and the RB's were given some nice lanes!
D did a great job of containing Watson. They and the weather caused his lowest QBR this year, by a large margin.
The 'no mas' at the end was BRILLIANT!
Chubb scared me w/ that last run.. then I was LMAO....

I have been very critical of the defense. They played a good game.

The Texans only score was very close to not happening.

Ronnie Harrison has proven to be a great pick up. So glad we have him. He made a bunch of plays. He shows speed, instincts, and is a sure tackler.

Wilson who had played poorly had a good game. He made tackles and started to react better overall.

Teams in our division have to play outdoors. That means you have to be able to adjust to conditions. You can not be one dimensional. You have to embrace the conditions and still thrive. If you have to run. Then you must execute.

When our OL is in full gear our offense can run and pass.

Baker was good enough. Sometimes throwing the ball away or checking down are good plays. Other times you have to be accurate, and win games throwing. Yesterday was about trusting the game plan and not turning it over.

Maybe next week we have to win throwing?

Having Chubb and Hunt behind a great line is luxury no other team has. When you have it. Use it.

Great feeling being 6-3.

I don't know where we will end up but it feels damn good being here now.

What did you gain after wasting our possession with time running out? Maybe it was brilliant NFL clock management, but I saw no logic in it. Why, before the half, did it happen that way with timeouts?

Teller clearly makes a big difference IMO. He’s a freaking mauler and the last drive it was so apparent ... the first 2-3 plays when he pulled and we got out of our own end zone was impressive

Really happy for Chubb and Teller coming back. The announcers were talking up Hunt all game... perhaps even dissing Chubb a little bit. I was ok with it because I think Hunt usually doesn't get the love he deserves. Anyways, Chubb quietly turned in a 100+ game when all was said and done. That last run sure did help, I'm sure... but he had to work hard pretty much all game. Watching our 2 runners really is a thing of beauty. You have Chubb with the vision and slipperyness, and then Hunt with the BOOM.

Defense seemed to have a gameplan and executed it. Nothing fancy, just some decent D. This is an improvement.

Higgins and Landry had good games. Good to have Hooper back. DPJ looked a little more comfortable fielding kicks, but then had that brain fart at the end.

I thought Mayfield played very meh. He had some smart plays (even the grounding penalty was him doing the right thing, just not quite getting it where it needed to go), and he had some really nice throws, but overall he had a weak game. Weather probably didn't help, but the Texans were clearly selling out for the run, and the run had to break through in order to win the game.

I was fine with the tackling unsportsmanlike. I won't discourage any physicality with our D. I was not fine with the taunting unsportsmanlike. That was just dumb.

For sure. How many times over the years did we need a drive like that at the end of the game we had a lead in? Only to go 3 and out and punt. Yes Houston has a bad run defense but that was still a huge step for us to bleed the clock like that, and with all of it on the ground.

It’s crazy that we’ve had such horrible/freak weather for home games. I mean, we all know it’s not going to be “nice” in Cleveland in November ... but 70mph gusts and hail? Haha my goodness

Not being able to convert 3rd and short pitch and catch plays doesn't have anything to do with the wind. Baker's inability to convert a 3rd and 4 set up Watson's TD drive.

To be fair, he also had that conversion to Higgins. I've been somewhat critical of Baker this year, but he played on the same level as Watson yesterday. I do agree on the third and short being frustrating though.

I'd like to see how he plays when the wind dies down, and again when we have to rely on him more to win the game, like what happened with the Bengals. Yesterday, Stefanski was hell bent on beating the Texans with the run game, and it happened to work.

I like that they only used Chubb half the time. It’s such a benefit that we’ve had Hunt ... Dorsey getting Hunt, Teller, and Chubb on this roster has molded our identity

Our defense was practically robbed of a shutout. If it weren't for that pop up Watson threw while getting hit turning into a big gain, and Wilson giving Watson the "rock bottom" for a 15yd penalty.....that scoring drive would have stalled.

I think he technically got the tackle, but Sendejo getting trucked by Duke had me laughing.

Speaking of which, did Duke bulk up? He seemed like he was bigger to me than he was when he was with us.

Both these guys were really good pick-ups for us. I hope Andrew Berry continues to look and find some players that can help us. I know John Dorsey is the one that got us Teller.
