Oh it's on like Donkey Kong!

I'll take your sig bet. And my friend that's a PSU fan, who said he was requesting off of work to watch this game with me, better not be backing out. This was when PSU hadn't lost yet. Now he said he thinks he has to work and will check to see if he can get it off.

Sounds like a cop out to me.
He knows what's coming!

OSU hates going into Happy Valley, especially at night.
I could easily see a PSU upset, but I'm sticking with the Buckeyes. We'll probably score early, then slowly let Penn State back in the game, but pull it off in the end.

Michigan is going to be the game I'm worrying about. They were put down at the beginning of the year, fought back into the top 25 and are going to be looking to take us out of the #1 spot. The sad thing is with the way the season is going, I can see LSU losing another game within the next couple of weeks, blow out a few teams after, then jump ahead of OSU in the BCS if they lose that game at the end of the year.

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

All I gotta say is... Play somebody!

Here's a fun fact... By the end of the year, Ohio State might play zero teams that finish in the Top 25. And the only real possibility a Top 25 team is Michigan.

And last year we played three teams ranked number 2 in the first time in football history! And the year before were only beat by the National Champion.

We chose this schedule but with no idea it would be so weak.

Funny that a Kentucky fan finally realizes they have a football team and want to criticize a schedule. Criticize that we are a bad team, but not something that we didn't intentionally plan...the Big 10 usually has 2-4 good teams every year.

And we are pushing NCAA by scheduling Home/Aways with Miami, OU, USC and other schools in the next few years.

Jealousy will get you nowhere.

Sounds like the same crap you said during the NCAA tourney.

Sour grapes because you know that Ky will never sniff OSU's greatness on the gridiron.

To be fair, this isn't an anti-Ohio State thing. This is just anti-Big Ten. Suck it up and add another team. Have a championship game. Get better as a conference. I'm not blaming Ohio State for playing whats put in front of them. I'm just saying what's put in front of them is a joke.

Does it mean anything to you that in the AP top 25 poll, Ohio State is getting 57 out of 65 votes. In the USA Today poll, Ohio State is getting 58 out of 60 votes? That means that the people who analayze schedules, teams, conferences, players, and coaches overwhelmingly feel that Ohio State is the #1 team in the country. Mind you, again, these are people that do this for a living.

it is, and i hate it...

i do like the direction that some of these programs are going, illinois and indiana appear to be getting better...

but i have serious questions about iowa, purdue, and wisconsin, these are 3 programs that have looked flat all year...

and the teams in the bottom this year are not bad, they are AWFUL.. minnesota, northwestern, there are programs in the mac that are better deserving of being in the big ten...

Now in case I missed something here is the breakdown...

2006-2007

Big Ten 2-5, 0-2 BCS bowls, 1-2 head to head with SEC

SEC 6-3, 2-0 Bcs bowls (including national champs) 2-1 with Big Ten

2005-2006

Big Ten 3-4, 2-0 in BCS bowls, 1-1 head to head with SEC

SEC 3-3, 0-1 in BCS bowls, 1-1 head to head

2004-2005

Big Ten 3-3, 0-1 in BCS bowls, 2-1 head to head

SEC 3-3, 1-0 in BCS bowls, 1-2 head to head

2003-2004

Big Ten 4-3, 1-1 in BCS bowls, 2-1 head to head

SEC 3-3, 1-0 in BCS bowls, 1-2 head to head

2002-2003

Big Ten 5-1, 1-1 in BCS bowls (including national champs), 2-1 head to head

SEC 3-4, 1-0 in BCS bowls, 1-2 head to head

Now I have said that the Big Ten is down this year (I believe I ranked them 4th in conferences this year) as well as last year but it is not the terrible conference you always make it out to be. The SEC (best conference last year and I ranked them #1 again) has not been the dominating conference you have made them out to be.

Add another? Who Pitt? There aren't many great options out there. And it wouldn't change this given year even if we did have a conference championship...it's a weak year in the conference. Other conferences have their down years too.

I'm ok with a conf championship but there is no way that a real Big-10 championship plays out without cancelling the OSU V Mich game which won't happen. I haven't heard a solution there since at least half of the years, OSU and Michigan are the two-best teams...seems not too different from last or possibly even this year.

are you telling me that having a championship game will make this a better conference? Top man...just when i think i undertsand where ur commin frm i lose u....u sound pretty lame there bud...i think u should havej us ended it at "Big then sucks this year" and nobody would have argued with you there...*sigh*

I may not share the same reasons as you for why the Bucks might lose this game...but i really think that the odds favor PSU in this game...simply due to the facts that it's an away game at NIGHT at PSU where we have lost before in recent years with a team that was pretty good...and PSU has a pretty solid D that everyone is over looking...i believe they are #2 in pretty much everything after OSU in Big Ten this year..and are #6 nationally in some categories...so make of that what you will be this team can sure as hell give the Bucks a run for their money...

Hope we survive....

Not what I'm saying. I said "Add another team. Get better as a conference." The period in between indicated two seperate thoughts

Here's my thinking about why the Big Ten needs a conference championship game. Let's say, hypothetically, Ohio State, LSU, and Oklahoma were to go 12-0 in a season. How is it fair that LSU and Oklahoma would have to play in a title game, while OSU does not? That's my problem with the Big Ten not having a conference championship game.

But, my thing THIS YEAR. The adding a conference championship game is an every year thing. The thing that bothers me this year, is that the Big Ten is absolutely horrible this year, and somehow people still think Ohio State deserves to be number 1.

And Muni, people who do this for a living don't feel like Ohio State is the best team in the country. They were voted there for the simple fact that everyone else has lost... Because they play somebody!

Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. Yep we have a soft schedule this year. The thing is we have avoided the upset while other teams havent.

Yes. True. But, the upsets you've avoided are Northwestern, Washington, Minnesota, Youngstown State, Kent State, etc. While some of the upsets that weren't avoided were #8 (at the time) Kentucky, Auburn, Rutgers, etc.

Well it is what it is. What else can be said? Do I think we are the best team in the nation? No. I do however dont feel a team with one loss should be ranked ahead of us just because they play in the SEC. All you can do is go out and play your schedule and win those games. If you do things will play out. I am not sure who you feel SHOULD be ranked #1 but neither LSU or Oklahoma looked all that great this past weekend and Oklahoma was playing Iowa State, not eactly a powerhouse.

I agree. Like I said, I don't blame Ohio State for this. I blame the Big Ten as a whole. It's not Ohio State's fault that they play such a weak schedule. It is, however, the Big Ten's fault.

Oh, and for the record, I think BC at #2 is a joke, as well. There are many one loss teams, and even two loss teams that I feel are better than BC. This is why something needs to be done about college football. Because, if you go undefeated in a major conference, you are ranked too high, even if the conference is down and you don't play anyone.

It's sad when the B-10 championship comes down to OSU, Illini and UofM.

How about we talk about this NOV 19th after the MEEchigan game is done and the polls come out....if the Bucks go undefeated this season it doesn't matter who says what we r playing in the national title game....the fact that Big Ten sucks this year....well just sucks...it ain't our fault....at this point in time it's dumb to argue why OSU is or is NOT #1...everybody knows that they haven't played a big team yet and they might not all year...but u would be foolish to believe that the remaining games that OSU has left are cake walk...

I still think everyone in the country is playing for second place, behind LSU anyway. As long as BC or Ohio State loses at some point, I think LSU still wins the national championship. Unless they slip up and lose to Florida in the SEC Championship game, which is possible.

I dont think the B 10 is as weak as you make it out to be. Not saying Big 10 is the strongest donference in the nation this year but its not like we are the WAC or something. I wouldnt really say the Big 10 is bad but the are kind of mediocre this year. There seems to be a lot of parity and Big 10 teams have been beating up on each other to certain extent.

And Muni, people who do this for a living don't feel like Ohio State is the best team in the country. They were voted there for the simple fact that everyone else has lost... Because they play somebody!

Wow... So Ohio State goes undefeated through 8 games and doesn't deserve to be there, but the other highly touted teams in the nation who have lost 1 or 2 games thus far deserve to be ahead of Ohio State? Here's a question for you, why even play the games? Why even schedule any opponents at all? Why not just gather up all of the AP voters during the preseason, send them out to all of the top 25 schools' camps, and then judge, based on talent, who deserves the national championship. Hell, let's be leniant. Let's pick the two most talented teams and let them play a game to determine it... Oh wait, I almost forgot... We already have something like that.. It's called the regular season. You play who's on your schedule and, if you go undefeated in a BCS conference and you are ranked at the begnining of the year, you deserve a spot in the championship game over any (yes ANY) team that has a loss. That's why you play the freaking games.

Now I know teams like Stanford, Vanderbilt, Oregon State, Appalachin State, Colorado, Kansas State, Syracuse, and Uconn are powerhouses... But actually they have something else in common too. They all have beat a top 10 team this year. I'm sorry but just because you have a schedule that is deemed "easy" by some so called experts, doesn't lessen the fact that you're undefeated. Especially in a year where a multitude of supposedly superior teams have fallen to far lesser schools. Maybe LSU, Oklahoma, Cal, USC, Michigan, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Texas, Wisconsin, and Florida have more talent than Ohio State (which I would find highly difficult to defend seeing as how all of those teams have lost games they were supposed to win and seeing as how Ohio State has sent so many players to the NFL in recent years) but they all have one alarming difference than tOSU. They all have lost a game that they should have won. Championship teams, or at least teams that deserve to play for a shot at the championship, don't lose games that they should certainly win.

Maybe the Kents, Akrons, and Youngstown States don't look very imposing, but Ohio State beat all of those teams and beat them handily. Akron was the closest and the best they could do was score on an offensive miscue by the Bucks. That was it. Chris Wells not making it back to the line of scrimmage was their only score of the day. And that was the closest of those 3 games. Sure, I'll credit to the Zips for causing that safety. Hey, I'll even go as far to say as it was all their doing and it was a great stop.. That still doesn't change the fact that none of those teams' offenses, hell none the teams Ohio State has faced this season, have had any success against our defense.

I'm sorry, but I find it hard to put any stock into what people who had USC as the number 1 team in the nation have to say about the Buckeyes. The same people who called USC the best team in the nation (and maybe the best college team ever) have no business being intrusted with any sort of meaningful ranking. It's embarassing... unfourtunately these people actually do have clout in the media and in the current rankings and it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to save face and push a 3 loss Pac 10 or SEC team ahead of an undefeated Big 10 or ACC team. It's just completely ridiculous at this point.

Whatever. Go Bucks. Should we lose one of our last 4 games then I'll be the first to say we don't deserve even a sniff of a title game... but should we win out, any one that questions our team either has an agenda or is an idiot. Plain and simple. And anyone who wants to play the Big Ten is weak card need not look any further: This past bowl season the Big Ten went 2-1 against the SEC. This so called inferior conference outplayed the conference that people want to believe is god's gift to college football. Just because a conference is chalked full of parity and average to above average football doesn't mean that any team who comes out of it is the best team in the country.

Time and change will surely show

Sure they will. How many times have you ever been right on your predictions?

All I gotta say is... Play somebody!

Here's a fun fact... By the end of the year, Ohio State might play zero teams that finish in the Top 25. And the only real possibility a Top 25 team is Michigan.

Who cares about the polls? They mean nothign until the end of the season and then the only one that matters is the BCS...

in a year when USF gets to be ranked #2... App State beat a 'top 5' team... Standford beat the #1 team in the nation... how can you argue that rankings really mean anything? They are a number for the media to hype things up. But until that final BCS ranking comes out they don't mean squat. Anyone can beat anyone at any time...

The Big Ten is down right now and the SEC is up.... big deal... college football goes up and down it just happens... last couple of years the Big East was a JOKE... now they have what? 3 teams in the top 10 and 4 in the top 25? Same thing with the PAC-10... everyone bashed them and said the only team in that conference was USC over the past 5 years... this year they have 3 in the top 10 as well and 4 in the top 25....

the Big Ten will get back up in a few years... they are just down overall as a conference this year. I'm not sure how I feel about a conference title game... because really I LOVE having the UM/OSU game as our final game of hte year... and in reality that almost always determines who wins the Big Ten title... the only thing I would like about it is that it would give the Big Ten champ another game before the bowl game. But that's about it for me.

I'll admit that we haven't played hardly anyone yet... but we've played the teams on the schedule and beat all of them... do we deserve the number 1 ranking? no... we're there by default... but if we win out you better believe that we deserve to be in the BCS championship because of the system that's in place... I hope both OSU and BC win out... maybe all the SEC people will be upset enough that people will start really pushing for a playoff.
