I disagree.

And that's sad. Somebody is making excuses for an insurrection claiming that cop would have dies anyway and you are sticking up for him? Very sad.

So? I’m not surprised. Nothing says “Blue Lives Matter” louder, than supporting the beating of a Capitol Hill cop to death.

Just saw this on FB:

The Hill

BREAKING: Acting Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman has just revealed that lingering security in Washington D.C. is and will remain because of intelligence that some militia groups that attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6 have threatened to "blow up" the complex when President Biden delivers a joint address to Congress, with the goal of killing as many lawmakers as possible.

'QAnon Shaman' Jake Angelli Accused Trump of 'Grooming' Americans to Accept Conspiracies

QAnon Shaman" Jacob Chansley claims that former President Donald Trump used social media and "public propaganda" to "effectively groom" his followers into believing conspiracy theories.

Chansley, also known by his stage name Jake Angelli, argued that he was one of millions tricked by the former president in a motion seeking to secure his pretrial release on Tuesday. Chansley is facing a potentially lengthy prison sentence for his alleged role in the deadly January 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol. Chansley insists that he believed he was "lawfully answering the call of the President" at the time that he and many others illegally entered the building.

"For years during the Trump administration, the President honed and routinely utilized his mass communication means to effectively groom millions of Americans with respect to his policies, protocols, beliefs and overwhelming fixation on all matters conspiratorial," Chansley's attorney Albert Watkins wrote in the motion.

"Months before the 2020 Presidential election, former President Trump heightened his public propaganda such as to alarm, alert, and amass his supporters and cause them to be concerned about an inevitable voter fraud being perpetrated upon the United States of America and, in turn, theft of our nation, loss of our democracy, and the seating of a falsely/fraudulently elected individual other than former President Trump," the motion continued.

Previously a fixture at rallies and gatherings promoting the pro-Trump conspiracy theory featured in his nickname, Chansley gained national notoriety due to photos showing him inside the Capitol building following the breach. He became an instantly recognizable figure after images of him shirtless while wearing a furry horned hat and American flag face paint quickly went viral.

Besides being allegedly duped by Trump, the motion provides several additional reasons to justify Chansley's pretrial release. The document admits that Chansley does not have "an underlying medical condition which makes him especially vulnerable" to COVID-19 but argues that Chansley's "faith precludes him" from receiving a vaccine that could prevent him from becoming infected, suggesting that he should therefore be released on both medical and religious grounds.

Chansley also claims that bad prison food should bolster the case for his release. The motion states that although Chansley is "very grateful" for a court order that he only be served organic food in jail due to his religious beliefs, "the Defendant has experienced significant digestive tract issues for which medical consultation has been sought," with the symptoms being "attributable to the sustenance accorded the Defendant while in custody."

This is what happened - without question - anyone with a brain can see it. It's the sort of thing dictators and despots do to cling to power illegitimately. And there are still morons that believe the election is stolen despite zero evidence and 10001 court cases ruling against the idea.

This isn't the first time that stupidity has been used as a legal defense, and won't be the last.

Also, I just couldn't help but laugh at that last part.

They are actually news stories. That's what you call reporting on people who attempted an insurrection to overthrow the election results. This is the name he has been known by for some time. The only problem with your comparison is that if you actually followed the news you would know that many QAnon followers have attended Trump rallies, support Trump, were at the insurrection and participated in storming the capital. Not so much with the he man woman haters club. They actually wear the QAnon clothing. And Lord only knows how many there are among them not outwardly showing their support for QAnon.

But I'm not surprised those who wish to turn a blind eye to it either don't know or don't want to know.

I don't know why, but the moment I focused on Q Shaman's pals, I started hearing banjo music in my head.

As a fan of banjo music I take offense.
I think these folks are more represented by a child’s play piano toy. Clanky, thin and tinny (no real substance) in sound, no real purpose either except making noise.

Bloomberg didn't try to overthrow the elections. Man up and face the fact your side tried to install an illegitimate dictator.

When and if I try to overthrow an election showing that I deserve such comparisons let me know. Sometimes our actions is what draws such comparisons.

If these comments were strictly based upon his looks it would bother me. But that's not what's happening here.

I simply pointed out what he did that created the situation in the first place. Sometimes people bring things on themselves. This guy did. I'm not going to ignore what brought about these comparisons in the first place to try and make a point that doesn't exists.

Sadly it's about priorities. Should one be more outraged by the fact that a group of people who were spurred on by a sitting president tried to overthrow our democratically ran elections? Or should we be more outraged that one for those who was guilty of such crimes was made fun of over his looks?

Inquiring minds want to know....

Oh, I did. But let me try to put this all a little more in context.

You see, I don't care much about perceptions. If I did I would be much more of a conformist. My hair wouldn't be long. My views would much closer align with the far left or the far right.

But I simply don't care. My dad used to to say, "Son, you know there are a lot of people who will judge you by the way you look". And he was certainly right. But here was my explanation to him. "Dad, if someone is so shallow that they will judge someone simply by the way they look, I want to know who they are. It helps separate the wheat from the chaff with little to no effort at all. It saves me a lot of time."

After reflecting on what I told him, he never brought the subject up again.

That's a lot of the problem I have with "the woke left". They are really not that much different than the far right. They label and judge everything that does not fit into their neat little boxes. If someone did something thirty years ago that they see as offensive today, somehow that person should have been able to see thirty years into the future at how offensive that was.

You see, I'm fully aware that there are very sane and good people who are Republicans. Their hearts are in the right place and they only want what they feel is good for America. While I don't agree with some of their political views, I do not question their intentions. But often times today even those that I refer to as "good Republicans" feel some need to uphold some of the terrible things being said and done today by members of their own party. I understand that to a degree. It's a natural defensive mechanism.

On the other hand, some people, by their own actions receive the negative attention and labeling they are getting. This mans actions are what put him under the microscope. His actions are what make people feel the stereotype aligns with his looks. These two things are directly connected.

I feel that by choosing to focus on the fact people are labeling this man according to his own actions rather than focusing on the fact he was trying to overthrow our election is "selecting" to minimize his actual actions in an attempt to take the focus away from his actual misdeeds.

So yes, some people feel the need to have "selected" to form outrage over something trivial to take the focus away from something far more important.

You see, I'm actually far more on the side of folks like you who think everyone shouldn't always feel like a victim every time someone says something negative. Isn't that what you guys say? "Stop acting like a victim!"?

You see, I'm not a victim. I will never be a victim. The QAnon Shaman isn't a victim. Every ounce of what he is getting he brought on himself by his words and actions.

But, in a time where people say one thing and do something else I understand it. "Don't act like a victim" only applies to the other side. It only applies when you "select" to use it as a form of outrage when it concerns one of your own.

But just like the far left does, now some of your own wishes to focus on victimhood rather then be outraged by something worth showing actual outrage over.

So yes, I understood exactly the point Clem was making.

The problem is I understood his point as well, but he said what he said.

On the other hand some people take what is said and don't understand the driving point behind the statement and want to hold a person to that statement even if they know the context they use as the standard is questionable because it serves their purpose.

As to looks, well, if I held you to that, I would have written you off years ago after our first meeting...you look rough my friend. I can call you friend, right?

Well, you don't look that rough. Maybe cut your hair some, trim up the beard a bit...lol

Oh heck, do what you want, I do.

You can always call me friend and it is my hope that I can do the same towards you. I wasn't trying to insinuate that you were one of those people who judged someone on their looks.

I think often times the problem with communications on this board, and actually in the written form overall, is that the wording sometimes confuses the context. I think if people actually sat down one on one and held conversations they would find that as Americans the success of our nation is the overall goal of us all. We just have differing methods in how we think is the best way to accomplish it.

Some of the wording you use does rub me the wrong way from time to time. I'm sure you feel the same way about me. But I never have questioned that you want America to be a better place for us all.

I know, and to be totally honest, sometimes it is intended. I can be sharp and crass if irritated enough.

I think most of us do that from time to time because as both of us said in different ways, reading something doesn't always translate to intent and the context in which it is said..

As we used to joke around on the old board, or maybe the dark side, maybe we should hold hands, form a circle with some others and sing Kumbaya. grin

I hate that song, Kumbaya. Can we sing something different? Replace it with Lean on Me by Bill Whither? (I actually like the Club Nouveau version better)

That's the point I've been trying to make ever since he posted that. Sometimes the negative attention one gets is attention they brought upon themselves and their actions are the reason for it. The reactions you often see are created by the things they say and do.
