I am pretty disappointed that we let him leave town. Thanks for the updates, man
If Phil saw anything that would make him think, Tim is a must sign guy he wouldnt have left town, Tim might be able to contribute but might not be anything we dont already have on the fireld now.
Remember Free Agents are Free for a reason...Feel good stories are nice, but we need to win football games,
And as for Tank..I'd loved to have signed him with a Club sided contract, prove and produce you get paid, screw up and you get what ya played game checks...

Ehh, he's a bad fit in Dallas if they are going to play him on the nose. I had heard Phillips wants to put him at DE for passing downs

Jags Sign Grady JacksonJaguars agree to terms with defensive tackle Jackson
NFL.com
The Jacksonville Jaguars have agree to terms with free agent defensive tackle Grady Jackson, pending a team physical. Jacksonville Jaguars
The deal is expected to become official on Wednesday, according to the Jaguars.
Jackson, an 11-year veteran, was released by the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 23. He had started all seven games this season and 22 of 23 games since joining the Falcons as an unrestricted free agent before the 2006 season.
In 146 career games with the Falcons, Packers, Saints and Raiders, Jackson has posted 440 career tackles, 33.5 sacks and eight forced fumbles. The former sixth round pick of Oakland in the 1997 NFL Draft led all NFL players with 13 tackles for loss in 2006.

just an update, anderson came in and worked out today and said it went very well and that they'd call him tomorrow. He's on his way to TN as we speak. has a workout scheduled there tomorrow. I'll give an update when we hear.
Well it's the end of tomorrow, so I guess he isn't coming here.

Jags are stacked on the line, year in and year out. And they go after this guy. He's got to have something to offer!
This is frustrating, but maybe he wanted to be on more of a contender.

Wow! That's the last team I thought would take him. He won't even start, although I suppose their goal line and 3rd and shorts now will be ridiculous. They could also probably run a hell of a 3-4 if they put him at nose and Henderson and Stroud at ends.
Still flabbergasted by that signing though...

Could it just maybe be a ploy by the Jags to prevent Tenn of picking him up? considering they are tied.. though as it stands now, they hold the 2 wildcard spots.

Did you say they didn't want him to sign with anyone else ? OR WAS that just to get him to workout?

If any team wanted to sign him, that team was to contact the Browns before offering him the job.

You'd think that with our Dline they'd have signed Anderson and Jackson. You could tie both of them up in burlap sacks and they'd still be better than Ted Washington.

The only reaon for them not to sign Anderson is they fell he isn't a huge upgrade over anyone else..
I go back to the intitial problem. If they put Shaun Smith back at NT..U solve that hole..put Kelly outside for Roye's spot. Or if they felt Anderson was better than Kelly ..release him.

well the latest is he's flying to atlanta and they said they just need him to pass physical and he's signed. Told him to pack to stay awhile. His agent is calling browns to let them know..all i know is, Savage is a moron for not signing anderson or jackson. Anderson is an upgrade from roye and fraser

Did Tim already work out for ATL? If he didn't how could they be that sure that they're gonna sign him? Seems a little weird to me.

Savage never said it was.
The prioroty last year was offense. And, personally, I like what he's done there...

yeah he's done a good job, but his picks on D side have all flopped, i'm waiting for next year to judge, but when you have players like jackson/anderson available you take a chance

All his picks have flopped? Wimbley disagrees with you, as does our best ILB D'Qwell Jackson.
And putting Grady Jackson and Tim Anderson in the same league is a joke. Grady Jackson is one of the best run defense players in the game. Tim Anderson is...below average.
you had a good run Hank.

I do like DQwell an wish Leon would get more playing time, Wimbley will get better he's not suprising anybody this year so he needs to go thru one of those learning years, ability will only take him so far, not he's gotta step up and learn a few more moves to get bye the tackles,, as for DB's Wright will be a good one, but Pool hasnt impressed me one bit, and well perkins, every team has a pick like that. The D-Line picks have been lower round picks and I do think we were hoping to get lucky and find one or two players to hold down the fort out of those two - three drafts and well we really didnt, Frazer is a suprise, but he is only a average player.
I do think next offseason were gonna see a few older players let go, a couple players A.Davis traded and 3-4 FA signed on the D with the draft being heavy on DL players. Maybe a RB starting us out in the second round.

Wimbley had a great rookie year..this year...well i'll give him a pass until he has more talent around him, but he isn't anything special this year, HORRIBLE against the run and coverage. He's a 1 trick pony and he needs to improve other areas to be an effective LB. But he's young. there isn't a LB on our team that i think is that great. DQ has great instinct but i've seen him get mowed over by bigger backs and get tied up and unable to shed blocks. what i said was when you have grady/anderson, both could replace someone on our line..i never put them in the same league, you read into what i wrote a tad much

thats the key, you HAVE to spend high picks on Dline, theres no more excuses. and sprinkle in a couple proven vets in FA and then we are getting traction

I still don't think Anderson would start for this team right now. Robaire and Shaun really aren't that bad at the DE spots, we just REALLY need a NT and I don't think Anderson could fit that mold. Jackson would have helped, but he seemed to have a bad rap in the locker room.

anderson i was thinking more of a rotational guy, i said it earlier, i think he could replace roye/fraser. Roye has fallen off big time..this is probably his last year imo

The way I see it, as I said earlier Phil/Rac probably felt he wasn't a huge upgrade over whomever he would have replaced in the rotation.

I agree and thats to bad, man I remember roye he would dominate a game at times...but time & injuries have caught up with him, I do expect Ted, & Roye to be let go, A. Davis to be traded or let go due to his salary, it wouldnt suprise me to see us resign Willie for one more year, he's not the dominate player he once was but still nice to have his leadership & presence on the field, he dosent get fooled to often. Baxter if back might move pool out of the safety position.
Who else we keep depends on how sucessfull we are at FA & Draft...
whats nice is potental FA are looking at the Browns and thier offense and will wanna be part of this, hopefully making it alittle easier to bring players in.
