Man fatally shoots New Orleans officer after he was denied entry for not wearing a mask

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department said an officer providing security at a high school basketball game was fatally shot by a man who was denied entry to the game because he was not wearing a mask.

According to Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office records and NOPD, 35-year-old John Shallerhorn was arrested for first-degree murder of a police officer.

Records also show Shallerhorn was booked on an armed robbery charge. The shooting happened at George Washington Carver High School in New Orleans Friday night.

Near the end of the first quarter of the Carver vs. Warren Easton game, multiple gunshots were fired. The officer was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Superintendent Shaun Ferguson says the officer was on the Tulane University police force and a reserve constable with the Second City Court in Algiers, New Orleans.

As Shallerhorn was escorted out, he shot the officer twice, NOPD said. Shallerhorn placed the gun on the ground and was arrested on the scene.

Shallerhorn is being held without bond.

I feel like, in this kind of case, where the identity of the shooter is so apparent and the crime is so public, that, if the US wanted this kind of thing to stop,
that in a case like this,
If they would hang the shooter, or electric chair, whatever, inside of two weeks,
then that kind of thing would become a deterrent.

If you shoot someone to death who is minding their own business, or in a robbery type where the other person was minding their own business, and everyone knows it's you, then capital punishment, (the death penalty), inside of two weeks, would be proper, and would become a deterrent.

So, what your saying is, you don't want them to have due process?

Faucci is full of crap?

You'd think the superior thinking establishment would come up with a new playbook after all these years and yet seems it shows laziness? Heck no they ain't lazy, or just a lack of willingness to even try,

what I mean is, Everybody's seen the tired old scheme, (one person) to explain things, ?? C'mon! Seriously??

One spokesperson to spew their line of bull? (and pretend it's not bull, but just as altruistic as they say it is)

One spokesperson to tell you to sit down, shut up, eat your pouridge without asking for more, and take the medicine your are given.

The fact that it's one spokesperson, (in this case Dr Faucci), is what I mean when I say, C'mon! No new playbook???

It's 2021 for Goodness sakes, they've got, they've got technologies, to deceive like they didn't even dream of 50-60 years ago.

I'm saying, they couldn't decide to use, 13-14 different voices, faces, to spew the Party line, that Faucci is going to spew?

Why just one person? ONe--- propped up, "authority", ??, why just "one" spokesperson?

I mean take a look at the internet, the world wide web?

It's supposed to be huge, but what do you really have?

7- or 8 sites.

that Spew the government, or various international governments' parties' lines' and control everything??

I mean, everybody might as well go use "wells fargo" for goodness sakes?
It boils down there are only 1 or 2 railroads, only 4 or less shipping companies,
Only 7 or less big banks, only one passenger rail service,
and even the Internet, only 7- or 8 websights.

3 car manufacturers, 3 American anyway.

But only one Dr Faucci? whatever.

I mean with all the people who go through medical school and all of their "set up" instituions like, (Johns Hopkins' to the Cleveland Clinic'), to only have one "Dr Faucci"
seems pretty much
1960's doesn't it?
I'd think there would be 13, or 14 voices.

There are 13 or 14 Judge Judy's and 13 or 14, Dr Phil's.

EXACTLY, Cult of Trump....Fauci full of crap- he's been married once, raised a family, served Presidents since Reagan and he's full of crap. Wonder what Trump is full of then. ANYONE who voted for Trump has brains of a simpleton. We, the American people elected a guy who proudly is a sexist, who's most famous words were "you're fired"...a soap opera king. We went thru advisors who he appointed, then fired quicker than a sick man goes thru case of Pampers....loads of smart guys, retired generals think he's sick. McCaffery, old drug czar, smartest man I've ever met stated he's unfit to serve as President....look it up. Months after he was defeated his supporters STILL think he's right....he's sick. It hurts me to know he's got so many boot lickers answering to him....WOW, I am/was a Republican, but can't be if that's the best they can put forward....lastly, I've voted Republican every election but the last two...Libertarian once and Biden second....because anyone is better than Trump...he is morally unfit.

The Large Turnaround in the numbers I look at at World-O-meters site in Covid 19 cases,
The turnaround is drastic enough that it cannot wait until the 15th, should be noted today, because it is drastic.

29,744,652 cases
538,628 deaths

A drastically reduced number of Active cases, 8,756,390 (I think was still 9.3, or 9.1 last look)

And the 6 days we can look at for recent days the numbers for the 6 most recent days, (the cases are +, or more than the thousand number listed)
starting with the most recent day and moving back the previous 5 days

45K new cases, 788 new deaths, in the US
44K new cases, 715 new deaths,
59K new cases, 1518 deaths,
69K new cases, 1836 deaths,
68K new cases, 2047 deaths,
67K new cases, 2369 deaths,

I'm really curious to see how the trend goes over the next few weeks. I dunno about elsewhere in the country, but the weather here in southern Ohio feels unbelievable (40's-60's). People are going to want to get back out there and do fun stuff (and mingle).

Also, by that point, people with medical conditions and age 60 and up have probably gotten vaccinated if they desire to do so, so the majority of the people who were actually passing away because of the virus have been vaccinated.

Now it time to open it up to all. Though those people probably won't die, we also don't want them getting very sick because of the virus.

Just a ramble here, maybe some of you know.

I suspect we will have to get a booster every year much like we do with a flu shot based on the best science we have in predicting which variants might be floating around in the predicted future. My question is I wonder if the Covid vaccination and a flu vaccination can be combined in to one?

More people seem to be open to the Covid vaccine because of it viral nature, but flu isn't something minor. That is why it seems people 50 and up are more open to flu shots because the flu can and does kill them.

Another question. Now that covid has circled the globe, I wonder if it will now be more like the flu? Still nothing to sneeze at, but not the panic it caused in 2020.

Covid is more deadlier than the flu ever was. I really don’t think we can ever treat this disease like the flu. Besides this disease basically wiped out the common flu because of masks and social distancing. Covid needs to be defeated and wiped from the earth completely. No prisoners.

His comparison to the flu is accurate, though, in this case. He is talking about a "booster" based on the mutations, and we've already seen some mutations unfold all over the place. I do imagine that there will be yearly or periodic vaccines in the future based upon the fact the corona virus' ability to quickly mutate, which seems to be something it has in common with the flu. I doubt it will ever be totally eradicated. Hopefully we can get it into the same territory as bubonic plague, where it is deadly but not a widespread, legitimate threat, like it is now.

As far as combining the two vaccines, I'm no scientist, but I imagine that might be a load that is too much for many people to contend with if you're activating two sets of antibodies, but hell if I know.

I think what he said is based on projected production and a projected increase in vaccine availability.

I mean the states didn't purchase the vaccine. The federal government did. The states didn't negotiate the deals with Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson. They didn't make the deal that combined Merck and Johnson & Johnson to work together to ramp up production. The federal government has set up many vaccination sites and plan to set up more.

Last Friday a record was set of 2.8 million people being vaccinated in one day. Projections I've seen say we surpass 3 million per day by April.

With all of that being said, I would think only Biden and the feds know every detail about the projected timeline of vaccine availability. The states and country only have so many categories of people to consider as priorities.

At some point it will be opened up to everyone that's left. Who better to make such a projection?

When I stop hearing countless (anecdotal they may be) accounts of people who are eligible being unable to get an appointment, then I'll change my tune.

Not really. Opening it up to everyone on May 1st is not the same as saying you'll get it on may 1st.

Also, the number of people/professions that are now able to administer the vaccine was expanded.

Thanks for posting that.

I wonder if there are different capability levels required for administering the JnJ vaccine vs the Pfizer and Moderna ones.

Trump.

"I hope everyone remembers when they’re getting the COVID-19 (often referred to as the China Virus) Vaccine, that if I wasn’t President, you wouldn’t be getting that beautiful 'shot' for 5 years, at best, and probably wouldn’t be getting it at all," read a statement from the former president. "I hope everyone remembers!"

I mean, as far as Trump'isms go, this one at least has a shred of truth to it. Operation Warp Speed belongs to him.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

But the development of the vaccines doesn't. That belongs to the scientists and the researchers. But then who would be surprised he's trying to take credit for it?

You might be right, but maybe not. This was the first time across the globe. Some type of immunity has to/might develop if it keeps going around.

The Spanish flu of 1918 was also a novel virus that killed nearly 50 million people. Covid around 1.2 million. When you take in to account the world population of today and in 1918, the difference in percentage of people to die is staggering.

I do agree we need to wipe this out, but seeing that it has mutated a few times, I doubt it is going to go away. It's going to come around again, in some form.

At least now we have something to fight it to a degree and hopefully science can stay on top of things and predict the new strains as we now do with the flu and "only" hundreds of thousands of people die, much as due to the flu.

We haven't wiped out the flu. No doubt masks and distancing have helped slow the spread, but people have still been getting flu shots. I get one every Sept when they first come out.

Just a quick check the CDC has the flu number pegged at 9.7 mil to 14 mil. One of the worst flu seasons in a long time, so it is far from wiped out. It just isn't getting the press as in a normal year.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

525,00 Americans dead in one year of Covid. For those keeping score at home, tUSA averages 50,000 flu deaths per year, on the high end.

Neil Degrasse Tyson put it perfectly, “Texas removing mask mandates, is like designating a pee zone in a pool”.

If covid is terror, Texas promotes terrorism.
