I just find it odd that the D intercepted Brady three times and the offense only got three points out of it. Somehow that rests on Pettine?
It sure sounds like they're looking for a fall guy more than they're holding the people responsible for the loss accountable.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

he was really, really nervous lol. I’m sure I would be too. Not a great first impression though haha Would you rather have this or Adam Gase’s crazy eyes? I’m taking the crazy eyes. Wow ... but I'd rather have Stefanski. I know I wouldn't have wanted Gase, and I don't know enough about the new Eagles HC to know if I'd want him or not - but based on this? He's clearly on a steep learning curve and that sometimes doesn't matter how good he can be, it's how good is he this season and next.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

He was a fine defensive coordinator.
He wasn't a good head coach but who knows how much of that was him fighting Farmer daily.

Yeah, but it was the wrong guy. They had an overall good D, and picked off Brady 3 times... resulting in a whopping 3 points (I think that's right).
I don't think defense was the problem. I am not arguing it was the right thing, or even fair, if fair factors in to such decisions. I am just telling you how it is.

I'm curious as to why would they interview Jim Leonhard - wasnt he Pettine's second in command at Buffalo and here? Secondly, I dont really care - we arent looking for a DC. Or a GM, HC, QB. Lovely quietness.

You’re thinking of Jim O'Neil.
This is relevant to us because they are interviewing our defensive line coach.

Wasn't Jim Leonhard the safety we had during the Mangini years? He was like a slightly more athletic (if older) Sendejo, and we had him in at punt returner because he would just catch the ball and take a knee.

Yes, and he was stated to be a coach on the field during his time in the NFL. No surprise with Leonhard..

Great work cfrs. Coming from SuperBrown this is a compliment because every time I see SuperBrown I think of bowel movements as well.

Yes, and he was stated to be a coach on the field during his time in the NFL. No surprise with Leonhard.. Gotcha. I always root for guys like this. He was a solid if unspectacular starter when he was playing for us. Filled a role and did what was asked of him on a team that was really short on talent.

He was like a slightly more athletic (if older) Sendejo, and we had him in at punt returner because he would just catch the ball and take a knee. It may be moot in your point, but Jim Leonhard was brought in for 1 year by Pettine, not Mangini. Leonhard had played for Pettine in Buffalo the previous year. Sendejo was supposed to be a rotational guy familiar with the system. That changed with Delpit's injury. Sendejo was then asked to be the #1 FS, a role for which he was too old. I'm not sure why the Browns didn't sign someone better suited to be the starter. Surely there was someone available who could have done better.

I think the Mangini and Pettine eras might be mixing together in my brain. Thanks for the clarification.

This press conference wreaks of a guy that gets canned after two years. Fans love hearing it. Players rolling their eyes. Andrew Hawkins and Joe Thomas had a good take on "we're going to get tough" type coach vs guys like Kyle Shanahan, Stefanski, etc..
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

The NFL has gone full-XFL/WWE. I miss the 70's. The NFL was the greatest then. Now it is just an embarrassment. BLM, Social Justice Warriors and not respecting our flag. Very sad.

So the game was much better when players shut their mouths and just played.. Unless they speak up about things you are in favor of personally

You never know, but he does need to learn to talk like a head coach.
Maybe you say that to your players in private meetings to express your attitude, but not in a opening press conference.

Randomly clicked a link on Miami's new co-OCs (Studesville and Godsey) and came across this nugget: Charlie Frye is their new QB coach. link

I find that interesting. He's a good person and it always seemed like his teammates liked him, but he really struggled reading coverages. Maybe he can do it better from a coaching perspective.

Chuck can read them just fine on the chalkboard...do they even use those anymore? Most coaches ended up not being very good pro players, but they know the game. Probably true in most sports.

Good for CHarlie.. Good guy... Wish him well agreed... always liked Charlie.... Too bad he was absolutely terrible as a Pro QB.

Too bad he was absolutely terrible as a Pro QB. and yet would probably not be in our top 10 worst QBs in the last 20 years He would be in my list. He was flat awful. He ran himself into tons of sacks, and couldn't read a defense to save his life. He had a weak arm to boot. Of all of the traits that make up a good QB ..... he missed them all.
