"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
Fantastic... hopefully he'll have a break out year and then we can sign him to a long term deal....
with OBJ and Landry healthy, this seems unlikely.
800 yards would be a breakout year for him.
we'll see... I'm not sure OBJ plays the whole year... and Baker I think really has chemistry with Higgins... I think he has a big year... might be wrong...
Great news! Every team needs at least one of those guys who is good at everything, even if not great at any one thing. That is Wood. He runs great routes, understands how to use his body, hands, and feet to get open, and catches just about everything throw his way. Welcome back Woods, and I hope you have a great year!
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.
I almost feel bad he didn’t get more or longer deal.
1-year deal could be just what the doctor ordered. This fa year is brutal for WRs.
I hope he does get to cash in at some point, though. Dude has earned it.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.
I almost feel bad he didn’t get more or longer deal.
No kidding I just don’t get why this guy isn’t considered more valuable
17% of the cap is going to the WR core 7.5% is going to the TE group
that's not sustainable -- 24% for 6 players
a QB costs 17-25%. Baker will likely cost about 35 million with 18 next year Ward 14 mill, chubb 12, hooper 12 mill Garrett 12 mill Landry 15 mill obj 15 mill Conklin 15 johnson 11 bitonio 11 tretter 10 mill
145 million in the above group...
Salary cap problems is a situation that we have never had to deal with. Never had enough good players. The way team restructure contracts and play the cap game is above my head. But I have a little faith in the plan. Bitonio, Conklin, hopefully restructured, extended to help cap. One of Landry or Jarvis won’t be here in 2 years. Maybe Higgs can step into ones role. I can see him being a Landry type guy. Hopefully we can get out of hoops contract after next year if we have a replacement. What if we can only have 3 of ward, Chubb, teller, or baker? Because we can only afford three of the four.
His best attribute has been his chemistry with Baker ... and I think he realizes it (and so do we). So for him to go elsewhere would not be wise for his career if the money is anywhere close to what we offer.

Someone said we did have an offer on the table for the guy. Looks like he wasn't getting anything of substance elsewhere.
The reality is Higgins isn't doing this out of loyalty and he hasn't made so much money that he would be turning down more money. He needs to accumulate as much as he can as fast as he can because he isn't the type of player who is going to get the mega-contract.
That said, I am glad he is ours.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
The way I see it, the reduction of the salary cap, the other key Browns that will need to be extended, and the WR market all influenced what he was offered. He has a fit in Cleveland and a value that could be hard to duplicate someplace else. Thankfully he's here. The economics of his next contract could be better if any of the above-mentioned factors change.
Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thy heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Another reason why Higgy might be underpaid by the team is that Jokes $6 mil contract is now guaranteed.
If it is a factor, I don't think it is at the top of the list. What we are paying other WRs is, IMO. We are currently paying over $30M to OBJ and Landry in 2021. That's insane. Further, as a result of them on the roster, Higgins still pegged at the #3 WR, and the usage of multiple TE, Higgins snap count is still going to be limited.
Also, if we are going to be concerned about a TE price tag as it relates to Higgins, I'd be more concerned about Hooper's cap hit ($8.25M) than Njoku's.
OBJ, Landry, and Hooper account for a combined $38.25M cap hit in 2021. One has been injured for several years in a row and two haven't lived up to their dollar value, IMO. Although Hooper $$ compared to the others isn't as pronounced.
I was hoping Higgins would sign a long-term deal but having him back in 2021 is a good start. I don't see this FO continuing to pay the WR corp as much money as they are currently dishing out especially with the possible contract extensions of Baker, Chubb, Ward, & Teller on the horizon. My hope is that after this year, that position group dollar allocation will be amended and it will be an opportunity to include Higgins in the long-term plans of the organization. Clearly, Higgins wants to be in Cleveland and clearly there is chemistry and a connection with Baker, who is apparently already in the FO's long-term plans.
With all that said, it's good to have Higgins back!
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.
So Higgy is kind of a security blanket, but we need a Cee Dee Lamb-type receiver, who can make possession grabs, get great YAC, AND blow the top off the D...and is on a rookie contract. That would handle TWO of our receiver positions in one guy. I guess OBJ is the closest we have to that, but he's been an injury machine so far, thus the need for a "security blanket." Hopefully OBJ has a great year this go-round.
And surely losing ONE TE wouldn't put our offense out to dry. A trade involving a TE down the road won't surprise me.
Good point about YAC ... I think we were dead last in that category last season. Landry and Higgins aren’t typical YAC guys

a QB costs 17-25%.
Heard Scott Vab Pelt do a segment on this the other day - I think since 2000 - no Superbowl winning team has paid their QB more than 12.5% of the Cap space.
Only 4 of those QB's have been paid more than 10%
The more things change the more they stay the same.
