Maine also has this, permitless concealed carry. Started in 2015. https://triggerreset.net/2019/09/13/main...hreat-of-crime/I'm sure some will attack the source, but the numbers can't be argued. Also, just for fun, I've included this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_violence_in_the_United_States_by_stateYou can dislike it if you won't, but it shows the number of gun crimes per 100,000. The whole key to gun violence is making sure those that may commit it - or are more apt to - don't. While it is a right to own a gun, owning a gun and carrying is/are different things to an extent. But I feel your concern, at this point, is possibly over rated/stated.

If you and Peen think it's a good idea for people with zero gun training to have the ability to walk around carrying a loaded gun, good for you.
By any stretch of the imagination common sense tells you it isn't a good idea.

More 'mah guns' legislation... Ohio law legalizing concealed knife carry, brass knuckles goes into effectAn Ohio law that took effect Monday allows the state's residents to carry concealed knives, as well as purchase and possess brass knuckles and other specified weapons. The measure changes the Ohio law that prohibits concealed carry of a “deadly weapon” to no longer includes knives, razors or other similar cutting instruments. Ohioans can now also legally purchase and own certain weapons, including brass knuckles, cestuses, billy clubs, blackjacks, sandbags, switchblade knives, springblade knives and gravity knives, according to the Ohio Capital Journal. The state Senate voted almost unanimously in 2019 in favor of the law, with one Democrat opposing. The state House in December approved the measure largely along party lines, with five Democrats joining all Republicans in backing it. Doug Ritter, an advocate and founder of advocacy group Knife Rights, told the Capital Journal that Monday was “a great day for Ohioans who no longer have to worry that they might be arrested under a dangerously vague state law for carrying a common tool, their pocket-knife, concealed in their pocket.” This comes a week after a new “stand your ground” measure took effect in the state after being signed into law by Gov. Mike DeWine (R) in January. Under the stand your ground law, Ohioans no longer have to prove that they attempted to run away or leave a dangerous situation before using a weapon in self-defense. Anti-gun violence groups and activists, however, argued that the self-defense law will give too much power to individuals to deploy a deadly weapon, and could also disproportionately lead to more people of color becoming victims of gun violence. “They sell it as now you’re going to be able to defend yourself. No, you’ve always been able to defend yourself in Ohio,” Toby Hoover of the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence told local CBS affiliate WKRC-TV. “If you were truly being attacked or in danger, that defense has always been there,” she continued. “This defense changes it to you have no duty to try to even retreat. You don’t even have to consider it. You can just say I’m afraid.” https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch...ckles-goes-intoWelcome to the new wild west! We may not see exactly eye to eye on this issue but on this part we certainly agree that the right is just going too far. As a gun owner I think with a permit you should be able to carry a gun.
But what the "gun nuts" fail to understand is that a lot of people who are currently in the middle on this issue aren't going anti-gun because they feel that reasonable measures are in place. They feel that CCW classes allow for those who carry guns to be trained to handle, carry and fire a weapon.
As long as such reasonable measures are in place there is a reasonable expectation they will not become anti gun ownership.
But when you go off the deep end and pass irresponsible legislation , many who aren't against you soon will be. As per usual I feel the extremists are their own worst enemy.
The problem is I'm concerned I may end up paying the price for their stupidity.

I don't think it's ever been illegal to carry a "pocketknife" per say. I know there used to be a limit on the blade size and type of knife you carried. I think the article tried to at least briefly explain it... switchblade knives, springblade knives and gravity knives I believe those were the types of knives that you weren't permitted to carry prior to the law ending. I'm not even sure WTH a gravity knife is.

"Honey. I need to run to the store real quick, can you get my bowie knife, brass knucks, and glock for me so I feel safe enough to get milk?" Travis, the chimpanzee tore a ladys' face off. And when Travis' owner, a lady tried to stop the chimpanzee from ripping her friends face off, she took a knife and stabbed travis the chimpanzee, It didn't work. So the lady called the police and shouted into the phone " bring a gun" tell them to bring a gun. When the police showed up they shot and killed the chimpanzee. Did Travis the chimpanzee attack the police also, I forget, but it was preventing them from getting to the lady whose face had been so badly torn off, the police thought the middle aged lady was a man who had had his face torn off.

I have one brother in law like that. He is so happy that he moved to Kentucky because they have an open carry law. He's one of those guys who claims everyone is afraid of Covid. I had to remind him that he's afraid to go to the grocery store without a pistol strapped to his side. He hasn't brought up "The libs are afraid of Covid" to me since then.
He's a retired truck driver and we actually get along pretty well. I think he likes my redneck side which I still do have and don't shy away from.

Okay John Rambo... and not the normal guy version from the first movie. I see you more as the caricature the character became by movie 3. The comically tough guy. Dodge Ram, confederate flag and trump flag still waving to everyone your defeated status, strapped to the gills with weapons... so you can get a subway sandwich and not be scared of your own shadow. Thinking you look tough... while everyone laughs behind your back.

If liberals get thier way, we won't have law enforcement anymore and that would lead to anarchy. Then you would need a glock just to safely pick up some milk.

I agree that gun owners need to be responsible and take a basic gun ownership class.
Most likely people who want to carry will learn how to shoot a gun before they carry. What kind of stupid person carries a gun without knowing how to use it. "Most likely" Really Knowing how to use it isn't the problem.. It's that they do know how to use them but can't figure out when to use them because they are NUTZ

I do keep one in the car when I go on trips, but not just heading around town doing everyday things. Random things happen. No way around that. I do pick and choose where I go and when I go. You may call that paranoia. I call it common sense.

I'm certainly not against carrying a gun in your car when you travel. The trick with that is you must make sure you are transporting it in a manner that's legal in every state you are traveling through. The laws certainly vary from state to state in the safe transportation of a weapon.
Much as yourself there's no need to go to neighborhoods with high crime rates if you can avoid it. Which in most every case I can think of it can be avoided. I agree that's common sense.
Squire
I think you're actually smarter than that. All you're doing is repeating a line that you hear from the squeaky wheel. What you are saying is no different than when they call everyone who owns firearms a gun nut. Are there those on the fringe who support disbanding the police? Yes there are. But before you go pointing fingers you may wish to look into space lazors and crazy theories from the fringe of people who vote the same way you do.
There's a lunatic fringe on both sides and if you wish to paint everyone with a broad brush maybe that's why it happens to you as well.
The biggest point in all of this is that there's a large part of our society that's not really on "either side". They're not "anti gun" because they feel with proper training required with a CCW permit those legally permitted to carry a gun know how to safely handle a firearm. They perceive that to be reasonable.
When states start making what certainly appear to extreme measures, even to a gun owner such as myself, not even requiring any training at all, the tide will certainly begin to turn and not in our favor.
These laws are nothing more than stupid and trying to "stick it to the libs". At this point these states taking such measures are gun owners own worst enemies and there will come a reckoning for the breaking down of any form of common sense.

BS!
She is an angry and hurt POC, not some arch nemesis to America. The BS from the right makes this situation all the worse. It is not okay to for police summarily judge and execute American citizens over minor infractions, period. The is no but, no if, no excuses that are relevant to this argument. Cops killing people over minor offenses, especially POC while worse white criminals are treated like family, needs to end and end now.

And once again maybe you should look at some of your very same lawmakers. Have you ever seen any of MTG's videos? You really need to stop and look around. There are as many or more dangerous extremists on your side for you to be pointing a finger in the other direction. You know what they say about telling someone else their house is dirty when you refuse to clean your own.
