I sure sounds like we made the best offer. On local radio today Mary Kay indicated that the Browns offered more than $4M per year to him, but she also thought it was hard for him to return to the team that cut him, in terms of having to swallow his pride. Going from $13M to $4M is a big bite to accept. I guess I understand, but I had hoped that possibly being a part of a Super Bowl contender might help him overcome that. That is what I was getting at. Sometimes pride wins the day, and I am not saying that in a negative way because sometimes it does.

Time for Richardson to test the market and see if what the Browns are offering is out of line.
Establishing 'market value' is the logical next step for Rich.

Establishing 'market value' is the logical next step for Rich. You don't think his agent has already been doing that? That doesn't make sense to me. What have they been doing since free agency opened? Maybe you are right, but as I said, it doesn't make much sense to me.

I'm sad that he won't be back, but nothing but Best of Wishes to him, except whenever his new team plays us.
I do wonder, given the timing with another OTA just concluding, if we haven't perhaps seen enough from some of the guys we've brought in to make us feel we didn't need to make a super big offer. Or, why would they make an offer if they've seen we have it covered with guys we have? Because he's still a VERY talented veteran... but, we're only going to pay based on going market value and our needs. That makes sense

Is Full squad attendance expected for Mandatory mini-camp?

That's a tough pill to swallow. Supposedly he's going back to the Vikings. I wonder if both Richardson and the respective teams got a better handle on the makeup of the DT rooms. Browns brought in a bunch of talented people, and the Vikings supposedly have a logjam of DT's, but there's a passrush role that can be carved out for Richardson there (per the link below). Maybe it was more business decision and less pride (who really knows)? https://www.startribune.com/sheldon-richardson-nearing-deal-to-return-to-vikings/600068135/

Moving on!
Todays the first day to see if Baker can build chemistry with new rookie WR Demetric Felton, one thing clear he's not a run up the middle at an NFL level consistently Rb.

Still don't understand why we cut him in the first place, it's not like we were over paying him on a long term contract, he was going to be a free agent after the season anyways. Paying him for 1 season would not have effected our cap situation next year, so now we have money that is not being used this year and we lose a good player.

Paying him for 1 season would not have effected our cap situation next year, It affects what we could rollover in available cap next season. And that's clearly the reason behind the decision. "We" the fans want a SB, our front office has their eyes set on dynasty. If they, in any way, thought SR could be the deciding factor in winning a championship, he would still be here.

I agree.
We fans don't see much past the here and now. The FO is planning 2-3-4 season down the road when it comes to contracts and salary cap.
You get it on a smaller scale. You were in the restaurant business. You weren't planning tomorrows menu at 5PM today.
You already had the ingredients in house and in some cases your kitchen crew was prepping some of the items today.

I don't understand the timing of the fans' Sheldon Richardson pining because he signed elsewhere today, because it was obvious, two months ago, the team and him were done.
In other news, The Browns are- supposed, to be good this year. Clay Mathews' son Clay Mathews the third is a free agent. Completely coincidental, but maybe a sign!
Make it happen.

Yep. And the restaurants that can't get past planning for the day are always in a state of chaos... much like the Browns from 1999-2018.

Takk is really firing into that thing. The others seem to be a notch lower than him.

He came here with a fresh attitude, and by the look of him, busted his rump in the offseason. He's powerful and explosive, with a great motor and a whole lotta nasty. He's really going to be a lot of fun to watch and should be an immediate fan favorite.

I agree fate he was my pick on the camp surprise thread.
He is a young guy with talent. But he has a lot to prove and he is fully aware of that.
Man on a mission is right. Having to play with the "super size" talent of Clowney and Myles. You have to show up big or you will look terrible by comparison.
So yes I see Takk as a guy playing to be on this team and contributing.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Sheldon always had a revenge factor in his attitude I was hoping that he had matured enough to not take the release personal and to resign with us. So he will take far less then what we offered in a cut his nose to spite his face moment.
smh Oh well
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

Should the Browns consider trading, maybe a future pick or a surplus defensive front 7 player, for a surplus Cornerback from the Cowboys, specifically Reggie Robinson.
Reggie Robinson, a young analytically savvy, athletic Corner, the product of too many Cb's in Dallas, about to be cut, would be a near perfect fit in the Browns depth chart kind of like a good swing tackle for an O-line yet would not clear waivers all the way to Clevelands' spot.

The power and explosiveness in those legs; when he jabs a left leg out to abruptly cut right, or to be able to have a strong enough base to do that stiff arm on his inside leg.... that's incredible power and explosiveness. That's what those sets of 375# power cleans gets you.

That's what those sets of 375# power cleans gets you. It's absolutely ridiculous. He disposed of that dude with no leverage and eyeballs looking straight ahead for the next victim. Chubb has all the natural tools; strength, power, speed... but stacking on the intangibles like instinct and vision is what makes him the best in the league.

The part of football that moves me the most is exactly what Baldy showed.
I can not get enough of that.
I love to watch the line and then Chubb's read.
I am a homer and proud of it. But damn I think Chubb is some kinda of special.
Love the guy. I have no doubt he will be signed to an extension soon.

Yup. They're forcing the players to get vaccinated while maintaining the ability to claim that the players have a choice. They're making it absolutely as painful and inconvenient as they possibly can without treading on legal waters that touch pay and things like that.

The NFLPA agreed to the new rules.
