I don't call that selective reading, I call that not wasting my time. Sorry, but when the first line of the statement is a blatant streach of reality, I'm not gonna bother with it. Plus it really has nothing to do with this thread and there is no need to discuss it. This is 20 year old history I don't see the need to keep discussing this.

Actually I didn't write the article I copied and pasted it from a web site that I found that had info on the whole MS thing. And you admit that you remember that the fans did in fact want MS fired. And I don't know this for a fact but I think MS was given the option of staying and giving up control of the offense or resigning, but make no mistake he was either going to except hiring someone to run the offense or he was going to be fired. I also remember being kind of pissed at Marty becuase when he took the job in KC he hired and OC, but when he was in Cleveland he refused to do it. In the end he did in fact resign with a gun pressed firmly to his head, either or!!

You can lable a franchise whatever you want, but I believe this. Any corporation, business, or other public entity you can think of does in fact respond to the wishes of it's customers. In this instance I believe that AM was responding to the wishes of the customers. However, I agree with the idea that oft times customers/ Fans don't know what is best. And it is the responsiblity of the management to do what is best, and they must live with those decision. But don't ever think that the Browns or any other business don't respond, and listen to their customers because they do, even if it is the wrong thing to do.

here is the link!!! http://www.brownshistory.com/stats/coaches/marty.html

Fine ddub. Then why don't you explain to me, since after all, it is you who has all of the answers, precisely what are the duties, responsabilities and expectations of an NFL head coach?

So far we know it's not the following things according to "Dawgtalker protocal".......................

1. Be decisive

2. Keep a firm grip on the internal problems

3. Being more loyal to the overall good of the team than your coaching staff.

4. Not stumbling over his own tongue and saying something stupid every time he opens his mouth.

So since the DC runs the D and the OC runs the O (according to what is posted) and it seems he's not expected to do the other things listed above, other than breaking down film to help prepare for game days, what are the expected duties of an NFL head coach?

Please be specific and complete in your answer. Because it seems many say he doesn't run the D, he doesn't run the O. They say at the half way point of the season, he's FINALY seen a need to *step in* and help with the D.

So what is it you feel an NFL head coach IS responsible for?

ATTACK and others are welcome to respond BTW........

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Sorry Fletch I don't know where you are coming from I was called a liar, and I with your help have been shown not to be a Liar, thanks. So it's hard for me to say were not far apart with that lable hanging out there. Because I am old enough as are you to remember Marty was in fact yet another HC that the fans of Cleveland wanted fired ( I didn't lie), and it was for the reasons I stated, I to rememeber, and this town was PO'ed at MS for not getting us to the SB, and strange as it may seem the lable's given MS to this day follow him. Marty ball, great regular season coach but sucks in the playoffs, can't get his teams to the big dance. Same crap different towns.

I'm not sure anyone called you a liar, I pointed out that your comments were incorrect and wondered if you needed to be labeled as such, I only said that to prove a point, I know you didn't lie, you were giving your opinion, just as others. Basically it sucks to be called a liar when you didn't lie, so I hope you know how others felt when you did that to them. No big deal if you ask me.

Guy I never called anybody a liar they called themselfs a LIAR and I didn't disagree, better yet I proved I didn't lie and well the other fellow just went away. Take it for what it's worth, but I don't name call, while I didn't disagree he labled himself a Liar.

As for the opinion part I am for that, what I am against is making stuff up, and while I know others do it, and they aren't always called out on it, when you make stuff up though don't be suprised if someone pulls your card. And that is what happened he got his card pulled. If that makes me a bad guy then so be it. But I continue to think that making stuff up is far worse. Thats my opinion...

I even went so far as to offer to say I was sorry to the guy, then you shoot back with I am a LIAR, and I proved I was not. So then you say after you called me a liar that were not far apart or something to that effect insteed of saying I was wrong, I souldn't have done that, and telling the truth yourself later or after the fact doesn't cut it with me sorry, it just don't.

I told the guy sorry for taking it to far, I am telling you that we are a long way apart if you think your going to get away with saying I am a liar. And you have done just that for something you later admitted was not a lie, and I am suppose to pretend it never happened, sorry but I won't.

The above is a perfect example of what I talked about in my initial post to you regarding how you take what people say, change the meaning, then respond only to the new meaning that you made up.

In the preseason you said the team's improvement or lack thereof falls squarely on the shoulders of the head coach. And you had seen nothing that would indicate that the team is improving and that was your grounds for demanding accountability from RAC. Now that the team has improved you give all the credit to anyone but the head coach and find other reasons to cite that he is doing nothing for the team.

I read posts and respond to them in an effort to learn more about football and the Browns in particular. You seem to care more about having been right about something and will argue ad nausium to prove your point even if your point is pointless.

How would anyone be able to respond to your perfectly numbered dumbass remarks and ever hope to get anything in return but more of the same?

Pass.

Welcome to the world of "debating" with Pit. That is Pit's way of posting no matter the subject. He cannot be happy unless he can paint himself as right no matter what. He will change his stance and ignore his original one, he will twist things (as you said here), he will even provide links to info that is years old and try to imply it is talking about right now. For Pit, it's not about how good or bad the Browns, the government, or anything else is. It's about him being right.

Isn't it funny how the love fest for Rac has died down a bit after the blown time outs yesterday!

I don't think he blew it on that. I think he should have challenged the play even after someone else had called a time out. It was obvious that the ball was moved as Miller hit the ground. By the truest definition, it's an incomplete pass.

The Browns are in a position to win at least 9 games and be in the playoff hunt and people are still screaming that RAC sucks. Too bad our other coaches didn't suck this bad since we've come back or we would have already had a deep playoff run.

Pretty simple math coach.

We played them week 1 and gave up 34 points. Eight weeks later, we give up 31 points. Hello McFly!!

Our D is stagnent and isn't getting better. Now if they only played one half in the NFL, then we would have done well. But, as per usual, the Steelers made half time adjustments and BAM! Same old same old.

You don't have to "twist" someone doing the things they do.

You just have to look at it objectively and admit it.

Yep, look objectively and admit it. You said that you judge the head coach by consistent improvement. The Browns now have a winning record and looks like a worst case scenario of 9 wins and vying for a playoff spot. That is consistent improvement.

Instead of looking at things OBJECTIVELY, you choose to claim with absolutely ZERO EVIDENCE (something you do in any debate actually) that RAC is incompetent and has his hands tied and doing nothing to make this team better. Funny how it was all RACs fault when they lost but now that they're winning it's because of everyone and everything BUT RAC.

You were wrong about RAC. The team is BECOMING one of the better in the league. They have made VAST improvements. RAC took all the heat from you for the team being bad. Therefore, to be consistent, he should get all the credit for them doing well. You won't do it because, as I said, you'll twist your arguement any way possible to keep from admitting you're wrong.

Yep, pretty simple math....we're 5-4, that's improved from last year with another 7 games left to play. End of discussion.

The talant got better, not the coaching.. THe guy is horrible at makeing choices.. Sure, when your winning, the coach looks good, but when he makes dumb moves, like keeping the Ghost inactive, like keeping the slowest defensive players on the field, ( Willie ) ABSOLUTLEY TERRIBLE CLOCK MANAGEMENT, Not keeping his foot up the butts of his players, because they sure came down fast, wasteing time on players that WONT see the field ever again, not jumping down the throat of the DC, even though he is a genius in that field, not knowing anything.. RAC is not a HC..

The difference, and even you will see it though you may not admit it, is that in the first game they scored their points in the first half and cruised the rest of the game. In the second meeting they had to play their asses off to pull out a win in the final minutes.

The gap is closing. That's improvement.

Darn right it's closing... We are going to be the two teams fighting over 1st place for years to come. I can pretty much see it now. The defense needs help though, and its gonna start with the front 3.

Great observation. We did give up over 30 points, but it was to one of the best offenses in the league so far. Our run defense seems to be improving as well. I was happy to see all of the blitzes. We actually got some pressure on Ben.

Hey Coach, has the D improved at all? RAC was brought in here first and foremost to fix the defense! How is he doing in this category? They revamped the whole damn defense. Brought in their own coaches and players, and they still suck! Exactly who's fault is it?

We completely tore down the defense two years ago. We have been rebuilding from scratch. In two years we have upgraded the DBs and LBs. Next year I'm sure we will work on the weakest link, the D line.

I'm not saying that things couldn't be better. Things like the schemes we use may be able to be improved on. Also, how much time does Romeo have to work on this unit? How much does he delegate to Grantham? Maybe something needs to be done there.

Chill dude. I've had my run ins with the ol' ball Coach in the past (and I still do...I don't like being called a classless idiot. Quite frankly, he could stand to be a little more polite to people who disagree with his views.

I aint one of his boys, dont care who he is, and I'm sure I say this for HALF of the folks here..

As RAC has proved, you sometimes cant be a coach and a talent scout.. Because he has no skills in that department what so ever.. Just like his rants last year about Frye, LOL, look where that ended.. OR, his rants about Rueben, LOL, the good ones..

He just needs to tone it down, and keep his snid remarks between his fingers and himself.. I know football, VERY WELL, and I know talent, VERY WELL.. Do I get paid for it, maybe.. Do I get calls for insight?, Maybe.. So, this old, high school coach and go yell at his kids like that and leave us alone here.. Maybe Coach should even be reading books, because Half of the stuff he says, will keep him out of big games and playoffs..

O, and RAC is NOT a good head coach..

Yes they tore down the D and have added pieces..what Phil hasn't had time to do is build the dline like he's done the oline..
If you guys would read the freaking threads that discuss the defense U wouldn't have to redundantly ask why the D still is weak..
U would have your answers but a lot of you are so HARDHEADED it's pathic..

Yeah, and I was downright FURIOUS when he said I had bad parents (because I honestly believe I have the best parents in the world who've set a great example for me). But I try not to cross that line into bad taste when it comes to arguing with someone, no matter how, arrogant, obnoxious or classless they may sound.

Question:

Why was it last year Romeo's Offense & Granthams Defence.....

Now this year;

It's Romeos Defense & Chud's Offense.....

Yes he's the head coach and deserves most of the blame for thinigs going wrong, but lets not forget he also deserves the praise for things gone right,

I'm all for signing RAC to and extension, Show the players were committed for the long haul and they should be too...

LOL, yeah, you played in the NFL. You and Ammo should be coaching the team. I can't coach. LOL, gee, I'm really glad you told me that. I guess I'm just like RAC and have had my assistants carry me to the playoffs all these years. I guess they coached all these kids up to get them into college. I really don't know how I got that interview to coach at Akron University. I don't know how I got the job offer to move up to coach in college next year at Division 2. They should have checked with you first.

The funniest thing is you throw out things that were never said as some sort of proof of something. LOL. Like I said before, you have no idea what is going on in that locker room or what RAC did or didn't do. You don't even know what happened on the TV. You claimed RAC didn't say anything to Grantham when it clearly showed during the game that he was reaming him big time over a play call. Don't let the facts get in the way of your pissing contest, though.

The simple fact is that I have talked to people IN the locker room. They know just a tad bit more than you about what is going on. I have talked to players and people in the organization. You have....well, you have made ignorant comments on a messageboard.

Ammo, what I said, and you continue to twist things, is that when someone does something classless, and you have done so on many occassions like making fun of physical disabilities), that is a reflection on the parenting someone received. I stand by that. You can be angry all you want, but the simple truth is that basic things like how to treat people respectfully is taught in the home. Period. End of discussion.
