For the life of me, I cannot understand why a successful college coach would forsake the security of collegiate ball for the insecurity of the NFL. Success in college means virtually a lifetime contract.... Recruiting is a full time, frustrating job.

It's totally different. You're evaluating talent and making a list of prospects. The players don't get to choose where they go. In college you're doing that, and then having to go to the hs students and their families to try and convince them to choose your school. Then you have to stay in touch and keep them interested. Before you know it, they graduate or declare for the draft. You have to constantly look to the future while coaching the current crop. Now with the transfer portal and the NIL, the work is even more difficult.

The way I understand things, and I could be wrong here, is that Stefanski explains what positions he needs and the type of players he wants at those positions. At that point we have an entire scouting department and analytics department to identify and find those players.
Now there are exceptions where long established, winning NFL HC's have more input than that, but Stefnaski is a long way from getting that kind of say in the draft. So I in no way see Stefanski being heavily burdened by the draft process. Involved to a point, yes. But not to the point that a college coach is involved with the recruiting process.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Is Mike Lombardi with a team these days? Did he trade for him?

Rumors swirling about Mike Zimmer (Vikings) and Matt Nagy (Bears) both being out after today. Also heard on the radio that John Dorsey might replace Raiders Mike Mayock as GM.

Mike Zimmer will be out IMO. The Vikings are so strange; they have talent but never produce

David Culley is the most in over his head coach I think I have ever seen man. He made Freddie Kitchens look like Bill Belichick on game day.

Any interest in bringing Zimmer in? And in what capacity?
I would definitely like to bring him in. Not sur about D-coordinator. He is a gretat DC but Woods had this defense plau=ying pretty well. Perhaps as a defensive advisor/Ass't HC.

If Dan Quinn gets a head coaching job I’d guess Zimmer goes to Dallas. If the defense hadn’t turned a corner I’d be all for bringing Zimmer in but it doesn’t make much sense at this point unless he’s going to take a reduced role.

I think that might be appealing to Zimmer after dealing with the stress of being a HC, having the health issue with his eye, and getting up there in age.

Living in Bronco country, I am enjoying seeing the Broncos go through the same problems the Browns did. They haven't been able to find a QB since Manning retired. Now they blow it up every 2-3 years.
It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

Go to the Galleria Mall in Houston sometime. Women are dropped off in limo after limo to spend their ugly husband's money all day long! Side note, Deshaun Watson just hosted his girlfriend's birthday party in the Galleria area.

The only coaching change I'm interested in is knowing who the Cleveland play caller is. We need that guy. And fast.
The Browns finally have a leader in the building. It won't be long before Jim Schwartz is in charge. Thankfully.

I'd take Flores over stefanski, at minimum take him over Woods. Its not his fault his gm drafted Tua

Flores shouldn’t have been fired

Pass - just get someone who knows offense and how to build a system around the talents of the players instead of trying to shove square pegs in round holes. Just stupid.

That it's January and no one is calling for Woods head is the most surprising aspect of this thread. Or any Cleveland coach's head.

Local radio guys (Carman and Lima) think its Jim Harbaugh to Miami, although I read elsewhere he might be going to the Bears. I really like Flores. Kind of makes me wish we were in the market for HC.
