Russia should immediately withdraw its military forces as they are not welcomed or wanted. Russia's presence in Ukraine is a menace to Ukraine and the world. Failure to do so shall result in the eradication of the Russian forces from Ukraine territories by any means possible. Russia should return its forces to its native land and compensate Ukraine for the damage that it has unjustly inflicted.

And that sounds like a fine message. But is that a message you feel we should actually back up to enter a war against Russia in Ukraine when and if Russia doesn't comply? Because as of now we have given the appearance that we make a lot of threats but won't back them up. There was Obama's "line in the sand". Then there was Trump threatening Kim about testing missiles. Kim paused and then went right back to testing missiles while trump was still president and nothing happened. We said we would stand with the Kurds in Syria then deserted them. In all three cases we did a lot of saber rattling but refused to back it up.

Plus I think you must consider, much of the world will not go that far in threatening Russia. They won't commit to attacking Russia under almost any circumstances. So the idea of this being some global statement simply isn't going to happen.

My point is that Russia can mass troops at another countries boarders, invade and then we sit on our hands and watch them destroy a country. Yeah sanctions don't mean much if your country is being blown to bits. They are the invaders and another country coming to aid is understandable. It is a defensive move, not an offensive move.

I don't get why this is portrayed as a NATO issue, it really is a UN issue. NATO is first and foremost a defensive deterrent. Maybe there should have been a UN peacekeeping force in place to circumvent the Russians massing troops. Hindsight. ...

Once again you make a point that I agree with. I believe that it should be the U.N. stepping up with us and nations across the globe involved. But as I said in my previous post, that isn't happening. So we have the choice to play John Wayne and start an all out war with Russia or not. That's not a scenario I'm so sure I wish to advocate. I would support actions if it were a NATO alliance or a U.N. alliance.

If there is a poetic justice in that, it is that even her death highlights the fact that Putin is a psychopath.

I fully expect this to happen in time.
Too many high-level Olis are losing too much to put up with it much longer. And the longer Ukraine holds out/kicks ass, the looser Putin's grip on things will be.

No-one thought it was a bad idea. What everyone said was how moronic it was for a high ranking US politician to publicly promote the idea of regime change. Even if the US wanted to promote the idea of Poo-Tin being assassinated and offered a reward - it would need to be done covertly with plausible deniability.

I'm not all that hip to who Lindsay Graham is, except that he/she is polarizing at points, but I'm on-board with the idea.

You do something like this because they say something? Dude deserves to have his skin peeled.

Biden calls Putin a 'war criminal'
Dylan Stableford and Christopher Wilson
Wed, March 16, 2022, 3:50 PM·2 min read

President Biden said Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin is a “war criminal” as atrocities from Moscow’s deadly invasion of Ukraine continued to mount.

“I think he is a war criminal,” Biden told reporters at the White House following an event celebrating the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act.

Biden initially said “no” when asked by a reporter whether he was ready to give Putin that label. But he then returned to the same reporter to ask her to repeat the question, and he answered in the affirmative.

Asked about Biden’s comments at a press briefing a short while later, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that “the president's remarks speak for themselves.”

Standing in front of a U.S. flag, President Biden delivers remarks at the White House.

“He was speaking from his heart and speaking from what he's seen on television, which is barbaric actions by a brutal dictator through his invasion of a foreign country,” Psaki said, adding that a “legal process” by the State Department and United Nations to determine whether Putin should be charged with war crimes is ongoing.

Biden’s comments came hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed Congress and called for more aid to his country. During the speech, Zelensky showed a graphic video detailing Russia’s assault, which began on Feb. 24.

“I ask you to watch one video, a video of what the Russian troops did in our country,” Zelensky said. “We have to stop it, we must prevent it, prevent or destroy every single aggressor who seeks to subjugate other nations. Please watch the video.”

It has been difficult to calculate the number of civilian deaths in the nation, with officials in the city of Mariupol saying the official count of 2,400 could actually be as high as 20,000. Mariupol was the site of an airstrike on a children’s hospital last week that drew international condemnation.

I took it as he didn't hear the question clearly at 1st. As I get older I find that happens more frequently.

We have already heard from our own politicians that the potential of WW3 exists here so it's not something that is being ignored or is somehow hidden in their minds.

The only thing being debated now is do we go beyond the bounds of NATO to help instigate WW3 or do we stick with honoring our NATO commitments alone. So far we have chosen not to engage in direct military conflict outside the boundaries of NATO.
Thanks for the history lesson and the current news update, Anderson Cooper. I'm aware of all that. You seem to be ok with it, I'm not.

So what is your answer? All out war with Russia right now in Ukraine? You're getting very good at showing distaste for things the way they are with no viable solutions. And it sounds like maybe you should tune in to Anderson Cooper. He obviously is bringing up points you act like you haven't heard before.
Been watching Anderson Cooper every night. CNN is doing a stellar job of covering the war, great guests with a wide variety of opinions, a lot of on-the-ground human interest stories... I applaud them.

I would have started the no-fly zone a week or so ago. Would it have brought us face to face with Russia? Yes.. would it have given Ukraine a fighting chance? Yes.. Would it have saved thousands of lives? Yes.. Would Russia started firing of nuclear weapons because of it? No..

I also wouldn't have stopped the shipment of Polish planes to Ukraine like we did.

I also wouldn't have played my ace card, which is "we are not sending troops in under any circumstances" on day 1.

I wouldn't have said my red line is chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons, thus letting Russia know what we are willing to let them get away with.

I'm surprised the woman who went on the TV set with the sign is still alive to talk about it.

And stuffed inside a suitcase? That's so intentional, the government could have just made her disappear forever but stuffing her in a suitcase where somebody could find it, that's sending a message to everybody else. That's who Putin is.

I'm always reluctant to say the world would be better off if he was dead because it is possible that the person who would fill that void could end up being worse... but I wouldn't shed a tear if he car blew up or his caviar had cyanide in it, or if he just took a good ol' fashioned sniper bullet to the temple.

Much the same as the little kid deciding to take his ball and go home because the game isn't going his way, but on a much bigger stage with far greater consequences.

Too bad it isn't as simple as having Tony Soprano sending out Danny "Dribbles" or Louie "Lips" to whack the guy.

Putin Says Russia Must Undergo a 'Self-Cleansing of Society' to Purge 'Bastards and Traitors'

"But any people, the Russian people especially, are able to distinguish true patriots from bastards and traitors, and will 'spit them out,'" he said of those who do not back the Kremlin.

"I am certain that this necessary and natural self-cleaning of society will only strengthen our country, our solidarity, togetherness, and our readiness to answer any calls to action," Putin said.

Nope. Russia won’t even have the opportunity to launch a nuke. That’s how quick that ass whooping will be.

They can’t even successfully invade Ukraine.

Expired arms, tepid fighters: Russian ally Transnistria may have little to offer for Putin’s war

https://www.yahoo.com/news/expired-arms-tepid-fighters-russian-193307509.html

Read the article if you want, but who the hell decided that Transnistria was a good name? Whether it’s breakaway regions or whatever, there should be an international vote on naming territories/countries. Cause this is embarrassing.

This is the fear, right?

These are the countries with nuclear weapons:

Russia — 6,257 (1,458 active, 3039 available, 1,760 retired)
United States — 5,550 (1,389 active, 2,361 available, 1,800 retired)
China — 350 available (actively expanding nuclear arsenal)
France — 290 available
United Kingdom — 225 available
Pakistan — 165 available
India — 156 available
Israel — 90 available
North Korea — 40-50 available (estimated)

There are 3 or 4 on that list that could go rogue at any moment so the rest of the world has to deal with that, not that they would necessarily use them, but use them as a threat if anybody tries to intervene on their "plans", much like Russia is doing now. But the rest of the world can't allow rogue nations to run rough shod over innocent countries out of fear that they might use the nukes. I don't know what the answer is, but this is the world we live in... and this sabre rattling by Russia is really the first time in a long long time that anybody has tested the notion that mutually assured destruction is an adequate deterrent.

This is my answer...

As for the U.S., If you go nuke, we go nuke on you. You just committed suicide.

If you go rogue and run rough shod over your innocent neighbors, well, your neighbors should have armed themselves better.
We will help where we can. We may even back you with our nukes, if the enemy goes nuke.

Europe was warned to pay more for their militaries but ignored those mean tweets.
Europe was warned to not be dependent on Russia for their energy needs but ignored those mean tweets too.
Europe is now scrambling to find energy and increase their militaries, they are no longer stupid.
