If we move on from Baker here are our options:
1. Jimmy G 2. Marcus Mariotta 3. Gardner Minshew 4. Jordan Love
Carr will not be traded IMO. In a world where this would be absolutely true, Mayfield would need to be on that list unless he demands a trade. I'd say #2. I think I'd take Jimmy G over Baker, but I'm not all that confident saying that. If we are going into the season with a guy like Minshew.... we'z gotz problemz.

Baker is the option and that is all there is to this.
This whole Watson/Baker smack has been overblown.
Watson will play elsewhere and Baker will play for the Browns. This is hilarious.

His cap is like $48 Million. That's rather high.

I miss Marty!!! Biggest mistake in my lifetime as a Browns fan was Modell firing Marty. I firmly believe the Browns would have never left in 1995 and would have stayed relevant for a long time in the playoff chase. I also believe if you knock on the door enough times you will eventually kock the door down. Marty was successful every where he went.

*if* we had to trade baker away....do you think the Jets would be willing to part ways with Zac Wilson?

No. i was thinking about it since they resigned Flacco. i dunno how confident they are in wilson, so it was a thought. id also see how healthy Cam is if we dont keep baker. it would be the best O line and weapons he'd ever play with.

probably. im just throwing names out there now because any other QB potentially out there would be considered a disaster since we lost the Watson sweepstakes.

Matt Ryan also has a no trade clause. Why would Ryan or any QB want to play for Jimma Haslm and his Baseball sidekick..?
All NFL QBs should INSIST on a no trade clause in their contracts to avoid owners who have billions of dollars but 0 % in common sense when it comes to how to treat their own players or hire a management staff that is nothing more than "yes people" for clueless NFL owner.

Doubt it, McDaniels has liked Carr and was part of the reason NE had discussions about trading for him last year, and I think he was part of the reason Josh chose the Las Vegas job.

None of it matters. We're in the lottery for a Top 5 2023 pick, now.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

Which gets us what?
Absolutely no shot at any decent QB entering next year's Draft.
We can sign Minshew and guarantee a top 5 pick.

We can sign Minshew and guarantee a top 5 pick. Minshew is not a free agent. And Minshew is better than Baker was last year. Our roster and coaching is too talented to get a top five pick. Good QBs are available in the middle of the first round all the time.

Hmmm, all the talk on here about getting Minshew, I just assumed he was a FA.
Most everyone was better than Baker was last year, but I do give a nod to the extenuating circumstances on that. I know Minshew has had an ESPN-Darling sort of run, but I don't put a lot of stock in it.

I do not see how the 2022 season can succeed.
The North alone is a major challenge. Beyond that it looks impossible. The Bills will be really good.
KC, Chargers, Denver, Cinci, Ravens, Pats, Titans.
The quarterback options are now all bad. There is no upgrade. The draft for a starting qb is not an option for a team with our roster.
So now we have Baker saying let me go is the best for all parties. And the Browns reply - no.
This is not done one on one behind closed doors. They decide to go public and play it out on twitter. Wonderful.
If Watson goes to the Falcons. Matt Ryan is the best temporary solution. I have no idea how the money would work out.
The Browns would have to give up a first. Then draft a quarterback to groom and replace Ryan in a year.
This is the Classic "Paint Yourself into a Corner."
The best option is to try and repair the damage with Baker. And that maybe an impossible task.

The wounds are minutes old. In August when we have the actual team in front of us things won’t seem this bad.
Many people on here, specifically Milk, have been saying Baker was gone all off-season. This shouldn’t be too much of a surprise.

One person touting their opinion all offseason is one thing, and in no way, ever, indicative of what folks should begin to expect; it is an entirely different thing when that immensely remote possibility becomes the reality that everyone is staring at.
So, yeah, it IS a surprise, and not a good one.

Agreed, Matt Ryan is on the decline. He still has those wow moments, but then he has those WTF moments way to often.

Ryan isn't a good option - but he may be the best option out there. How sad is that.
I guess give it a few days for the dust to settle and we will know what the realistic options are.
But this is a classis example of failure to apply the 6 P's. Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. This is the epitome of piss poor by the FO.
