I would think we would splurge a bit for a better back up seeing he might get playing time at the beginning of the season.

Good enough. Keenum would have been fine with me as well.

I like this guy as a back up. He has a lot of experience and is not horrible.

He’s probably a tad more like Watson than Keenum is I guess
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Wasn't this the guy they brought in after Luck.... I seem to remember he sucked... I could be wrong however,,
Keenum was a decent QB.. He ran Stefanskis offense pretty well I thought. with the possibility that Watson gets a suspension, I would rather have him than Brissett.

Brissett is miles better than Keenum. Andrew Berry is having himself quite the past couple days.

I like this signing. Brissett has decent mobility as well as a live arm. I wonder if they are bringing him in because they plan on tweaking the offense to use Watson's athleticism. Having a backup with some of the traits the starter has makes a lot of sense. No need for a separate offense.

Jacoby Brissett!!!! Oh no! (like adding a ferris wheel to an amusement park) (whirring sound getting louder) <------ what is that sound, Jacoby Brissett, who is decent but not for, --- Wins!! Signing Jacoby Brissett ---- I think they have Officially leaned forward on the stick and aimed the nose directly toward terra firma! (whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr) (( analytics? Had enough yet?? ))
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Agreed...my thoughts as well. Brissett has regressed the more he has played, and showed why he's a back up...I remember him having a good showing with the Colts a few years back. But watched him with the Dolphins, and he really was throwing ducks out there. But like you stated, probably a more cost effective backup with the same athletic makeup of Watson.

FWIW Brissett is probably even better than Baker. He has very similar career numbers as Baker.

I like this acquisition. Imagine a 6 game suspension for Watson, and the Browns are 6-0 with Brisset.

Imagine one they are 0 and 6 I don't think that will happen. The team handed the ball off enough to win 8 games last year. If Brissett played like Baker they could do the same thing and still win at least 2 out of 6.

Baker Mayfield 92 TD to 56 Int 14,125 yards, 61.6 comp % and QBR of 87.8
Jacobt Brissett 36 TD to 17 Int 7,742 yards, 60.2 comp % and QBR of 83.0
It is close.

It doesn't necessarily mean anything, but he did play with Will Fuller last season.
It's hard to find many of his recent throws/games without getting NFL game pass. Not sure if I want to do that again after how lousy it worked the last time.
The numbers don't tell the whole story. He has some solid highlights, but also has some lowlights. I need full games if I'm going to try to fill in the bigger picture, though.
Just looking at his "best" season in Indy from the team's gamelogs, it looks like he dealt with a fair bit of adversity. TY Hilton, Paris Campbell, and Marlon Mack all missed multiple games. Those were supposed to be his top 3 weapons in 2019, and he was hurt himself a couple of weeks in the middle of the season.
I think he should be a capable fill in if he's able to lean on our running game.
Have we gotten the contract details yet?

Jacoby Brissett kind of makes me think of a slightly better Deshaun Kiser. Well maybe a lot better coz Kiser was flat bad.
I think at the point in their careers, Brissett is an upgrade over Keenum ... I thought Keenum was god awful when he played and really struggled to throw the ball with more than about 12-15 air yards.
Bissett is better than Mullins - and we could win with Mullins. Not over an extended period but a few games we could easily go 50-50 with him.
I like this move.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

Brissett is probably as good as you can get for a backup at the price. Plus, he’ll have a small role with a short yardage package
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

It is close. Historically, -->Baker throws an INT every 34 attempts. -->Brissett throws an INT every 71 attempts.

At least the Browns now have one QB on the roster that will be available for all 16 games barring injury.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I feel much better about our QB room than I did 3 days ago

I hope that KS makes significant changes to his O in light of the change at QB. I know that's a captain Obvious statement, but he wasn't really using Baker to his strengths, at times.

I agree... I like the idea of being a run first or run heavy team, but it just seemed like he never used it properly. He'd give up on the run when it was working, and force the run when it wasn't.
I'd like to see us be a little more balanced, but show that we can do either and use it against the defense they are showing us.
And for the sake of all sanity, can we stop with the bubble screens, and 3-4 yard passes, on 3rd and 15.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

I also liked the part where Stefanski showed Watson how he could improve and critiqued him. That’s important IMO

Yet after that his people made it plain Watson wasn't coming here. Then they handed Watson the checkbook.

Get REAL, you state KS didn't play to Baker's strengths......IMPLYING he wanted him to fail....Baloney...Baker played like Baker plays- good, great, then he sucks and after he threw a pick decided HIS job was to tackle.....WRONG. I'm glad we traded for an adult, even if he needs to stop going to massage parlors- Go Browns!!!!
