Brissett is not playing. I think that’s all we need to know about the situation.

Interesting that they wouldn’t at least play him a series or two

Most of the starters aren’t playing. He’s the starter.

Hmmmm.........that's a better point than my musings of him being part of a trade for Jimmy G on the other thread.

Very good sign for Watson to issue that long apology IMO

Schwartz should be cut and just not look back. He just doesn’t have any skill to be a nfl wr. Maybe try him as a returner

I still think you should be full contact early and often in TC. Then guys aren’t getting hit for first time in game

Stefanski believes in making training camp as easy as possible.

I'm surprised the starters are even playing at all.

The team stayed afloat last year with bottom of the league QB play. Brissett just needs to be average (that’s a big ask).

If Stefanski pulls Watson after zero first downs simply because the clock says it's the second quarter, can we all agree that Stefanski has question marks?

This is why not playing everyone that’s healthy does nothing but give future grocery baggers empty reps instead of letting the ones that will play valuable gel and timing reps

Their playcalling is so much better than ours. Pederson is so much better at it

So it doesn't look like Brissett is going to play at all.

Good decision or bad decision?

I wasn't talking about Watson. I am not even watching the game. I visited this thread to learn about the game, but all I see is hysteria. Again, it's why I never read or participate in these Game Day threads during the regular season.

Vers, I'm being irrational and having fun with it, but I am not a Stefanski guy. I don't want to get rid of him, and I am hoping he is successful, but I just don't see it personally. Not sure what is so good about him.

Maybe you should ask the refs to move negative game day comments to tailgate.

I missed DW playing but see we were scoreless until a few minutes ago, what did his play look like?

" This is also Jacksonvilles 2nd game" ...

^ Is this the First excuse of the 2022 season. We've come to making excuses, and it's, well it's early.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

GM: Watson looked nervous and hesitant to me (could be the circumstances, could be having 2nd stringers around him, etc). But he had a bad snap, we had dropped passes, penalties, etc. It was about as discombobulated as it could be.

rofl
this actually happened.
The Browns got the ball first had,
A punt, a fumble (Johnson) an injured center, Harris, carted off, ( Watsons' first play of the game was an off target pass, the 2nd play another off target pass, a holding call, a declined holding on a drop by Schwartz,
but the ,
Punt, Fumble, Injured player, holding, and gave up 2 Fgs, all occurred Before
The Browns had one complete pass, or rushed for a first down.
7 yards in the first uarter.
I do believe you could call uarterback sneak I2 times and get more than 7 yards in a @uarter.

Just got home. How is Josh Dobbs doing? I wish he had a better chance in Pittsburgh. Hopefully he can be a good backup for the Browns.

For everyone throwing shade about Brissett not playing, quite a few starters were announced as healthy scratches before the game started, including Brissett.

Did that 6th round Wr play? Did Woods at WR play?
And or, did Felton play?
I know that, Amari Cooper didn't, and , the 4th round ish Wr from Purdue? is injured, but at the games start,
Who is going to catch the ball as a starting Wr, they looked, Bleak whooh.

Well, but the Browns go through @uarterbacks like the Travel Channel goes through paranormal shows.

I think you're right. Playing timid just doesn't cut it in the NFL.

Brissett needs the work.

My guess is that Brissett gets the majority of first team reps after this game.

The score is I4-I3 the Browns lead and in scoring position, but failing on 3 plays in the red zone, about to try a fg.
3rd and i4 from the i3? to the end zone... incompleted thrown inside of anybody fading in.

You can be up by 20 in the gameday thread and there will be wrist slitting every other play. You must have really forgotten that if this surprises you. I don't think I spent more than a quarter in here over the last 5-6 seasons without getting sick of it.

Dobbs threw a td pass to Ford, who earlier rushed for a td, ford, while I was out of the room.

earlier, Martin Emmerson, litterlly (high armed, Imagine 4 arms 2 players in almost a td ref signal, ... rolled the ball out of the top grasp of the pass catcher and then it became an int. which he returned for a TD,
the Browns...
made the FG after my earlier post, the score is 24-I3 Browns.

And the Browns get a turnover, another turnoer,
D'Anthoney Bell, gameballs, Isiah Thomas, sacks gameball, ... young guys looking good.
..
Josh Rosen enters the game.
a False start. Forbes,
there was an OT earlier having penalty troubles (name had an M, in it, hardly heard of him )

Ford has really impressed. Our RB room is legit … easily the best RB room in the NFL

Kelly had a good run play, and a 3rd and short got wrapped up, so they go for it on 4th down, and convert,
then move another First down forward.
Only entering FG range.

The player always, trying to fight for the extra yards to get the first, is in danger of what happened here, a fumble, Jags ball at the break, was his knee down?

Browns are playing that, ... give up the middle pass and keep the clock running , defense we've seen it a lot from KS's tenure as a coach.

That’s H. Miller’s 2nd

I Like Moffatt, he was on another teams roster a couple months ago, I thought he was gone,
Browns need to keep Moffatt

Jags in scoring positon, got an offensive penalty.

Just like that, offensive holding,
Herb Miller redeems himself, with an interception getting toes in the right sideline to have 2 feet down.
Touchback, Browns ball.

DW's stats look terrible, he threw it, but 3 drops hurt your completion rate. Ugh!!!

His first pass, the very first offensive snap of the game, may have been called a drop but it was also off target too high and not in sync with the receiving target.
(Analytics' must think that WRs don't matter, they don't draft any Ist round WRs or even 2nds, and... it's been ongoing.)

I think it was determined that schwartz ran that first route at the wrong depth

I don't get this concept... of... there being nothing more to it than running a route anyway.
a I/2 a month ago I wanted to have this argument that, if you get the perfect route runner, doesn't every defense, NFL defense, defender, and coordinator, that make their LIFE being a defender already know about all the routes somebodys ever thought up of, so their must be,
their must be a place they know the ball is headed to, and they can anticipate routes sometimes, and when I re-saw the Browns vs. Chiefs playoff game it sure seemed the Chiefs wrs./players were intentionall doing odd things after they were downfield to break off, and get where the route wasn't headed but the ball ended up.
The only point I'm trying to argue is
The desire to ac@uire the perfect route runner is not an end all be all that will guarantee a I900 yd, 50 Touchdown year WR or someone on the road to those numbers. It's not soley about route running there has to be more to it than that.
And if it Were soley about route running then defenses would just hang out along those, and never let a team complete a pass anyways.

How did the Offensive line play?

I heard some highlights from the NFL/Jaguars broadcast, and I thought that Bucky Brooks sounded like a cross between constipated and drunk. crazy That's about my biggest impact from the game. Mant of the rookies played well, and that was huge, but most were playing against other rookies who will not be in the league in a few weeks. Itw as, however, encouraging. (in its own way) I was disappointed with our "1st team" offense, almost completely across the board. (in quotes, because many 1st teamers had the night off)

Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.
