This proves it's all about image. One happened on national TV, the other away from the spotlight. I believe Steven A said Myles should have been charged with assault. Wonder if this new incident even gets any airtime. Dumb comments like that and Booger's hypocrisy are also further proof that talking heads will say things they hope keeps them employed. While the mob is a very real thing, I'd say a good number of the mob only feign outrage so they don't lose their jobs.

So, player safety is not a concern if it's not on national TV? If there's no stage for public outrage, a player can rip off a helmet and swing at multiple people without punishment? Seems about right. I didn't see any of those goofy helmet pads in use. Isn't that a NFL mandate in practice, or are joint practices exempt? At any rate, if "protecting the brand" as we have heard about in the Watson deal is important, I would think the NFL has to make some sort of move.

Reading that transcript of the allegations of the Bills’ punter is disturbing. As I said with Watson, if he is proven guilty, the suspension should be extreme here.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

It will take some major air play on the major sporting networks to get any legs.

"First Take."
What crap. Player conduct code apparently does apply to at a scrimmage. So, in a game Myles takes a swing with a helmet and is suspended.
Aaron Donald does it at a scrimmage and it should be excused. Stephen A says no suspension but he should be fined. The others oh it's practice it happens.
What is violent assault? How about a NFL player swinging a NFL helmet at another player? What if it hits someone with no helmet on?
A fight in pads. Yes it happens. When you take a helmet off and swing it as a weapon. Please.
The league then says oh it is up to the team when at practice to control their players. OK sure the Rams are going to suspend Donald.
Good old NFL so consistent

Discipline may be imposed in any of the following circumstances: Criminal offenses including, but not limited to, those involving: the use or threat of violence; domestic violence and other forms of partner abuse; theft and other property crimes; sex offenses; obstruction or resisting arrest; disorderly conduct; fraud; racketeering; and money laundering; Criminal offenses relating to steroids and prohibited substances, or substances of abuse; Violent or threatening behavior among employees, whether in or outside the workplace; Possession of a gun or other weapon in any workplace setting, including but not limited to stadiums, team facilities, training camp, locker rooms, team planes, buses, parking lots, etc., or unlawful possession of a weapon outside of the workplace; Conduct that imposes inherent danger to the safety and well being of another person; and Conduct that undermines or puts at risk the integrity and reputation of the NFL, NFL clubs, or NFL players.

As soon as I saw the Donald incident I knew (as I’m sure we all did) that it would get about 5% of the traction and outrage that the incident with Garrett received.
In a short time it will be forgotten about.

Baker with 2 TD passes against the Bills. He looks pretty good. The announcers were saying that he has the uncanny ability to read Defenses and go through progressions. Granted he did hit his 3rd read on the 2nd TD pass but that comment had me laughing out loud.
Anyways, we really need to apply constant pressure on Baker when we play him since we know how bad he plays under pressure. If he consistently has time in the pocket, it will be a long day for the Browns. The Panthers D is pretty good as well.

The NFL which is the owners is like a bad joke.
They apply "their law" when convenient. And don't apply "their law" when it is not.
Forget Watson. This is about them the owners. This is what happens when a "country club" has way to much power.
Please anyone explain how a game and scrimmage is different when it comes to using a helmet as a weapon?
How is the act different?

If he consistently has time in the pocket, it will be a long day for the Browns. The Panthers D is pretty good as well. I happened to watch the first 3 drives by CLT - to be fair, the announcers were making it sound like every 2nd and 3rd string RB, TE and WR out to be a potential all star. it was usual rah-rah preseason stuff. Also to be fair Bills blitzed a lot, and Baker was getting the ball out quickly enough and was hitting receivers hands. But it was against 2nd and 3rd string Bills players. The first TD he threw was not a good throw - behind the RB who made a good catch. The 2nd TD was very good. But the Browns will be a completely different level of D - and our speed with JOK and in our secondary is 2 levels above what the Bills had last night.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

In her ruling, Judge Robinson said this about the NFL: “The NFL may be a ‘forward-facing’ organization, but it is not necessarily a forward-looking one,” Judge Robinson wrote. “Just as the NFL responded to violent conduct [committed by former Ravens running back Ray Rice] after a public outcry, so it seems the NFL is responding to yet another public outcry about Mr. Watson’s conduct. At least in the former situation, the Policy was changed and applied proactively. Here, the NFL is attempting to impose a more dramatic shift in its culture without the benefit of fair notice to — and consistency of consequence for — those in the NFL subject to the Policy.” It's not about being proactive and doing the right thing w/the NFL. It's about being reactive to public opinion. I fully understand that NFL rules say that teams will handle punishment for issues that occur during practice, but what kind of policy is that when you have two opposing teams on the field during a practice? Is committing a crime okay if you do it in one location but not another? I actually do understand that things happen in a team's individual practice. I've witnessed and participated in a few of them. However, it's a different animal when you have two opposing teams on the practice field. Once again, the NFL is demonstrating that it is not a "forward-looking" organization.

All that matters is the act of using a helmet as a weapon.
Boogar " Myles broke the code, he should be charged with assault" "other like Eisen throw him in jail."
You may as well say "it's ok to punch your wife in the face as long as you do it at home."
This kind of BS really gets to me.
What happened to protection of players? People at practice are now wearing special helmets for protection against concussions.
But it is ok to swing a helmet at another player? Oh, it's practice boys will be boys.

The first TD he threw was not a good throw -
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Boogar " Myles broke the code, he should be charged with assault" In his first tweeted reaction to the Donald incident, he says "And let’s check in on another joint practice. Lol". He had such outrage when MG did the same thing, he almost had tears in his eyes. What a frickin' phony.

"The NFL" should tell the Rams suspend him or we will.
If two teams are on the field be it a scrimmage, pre-season game, or regular game and a player is assaulted with a helmet.
Automatic six games. If there is another case with the same player a full year.
There is no way that this should be left unpunished. Let's wait till the injury is really serious. Then what?
Then the "The NFL" should be sued.

I don't understand how he's not suspended... he ripped a helmet off... hit someone with it twice... 100% should be suspended at least a couple of games...

The guy he hit should press charges and take it out of the league's hands somewhat. Or the Cincinnati PD. There's plenty of evidence.

Once again, the CBA is agreed to by both the union and the owners. It's a contractual agreement. Does that make it great? No, it doesn't. I'm not so sure it's even a rule. The CBA language could be interpreted that the NFL has the right to suspend him (they definitely will not) as actions did occur on a playing field. If the the public and media outcry was loud enough the NFL would act. The media brushed this off and moved on to the next story. It was the league's own NFL Network that quickly came out and said the NFL doesn't intervene on what happens in practices. The NFL does not want to suspend Aaron Donald. From the CBA: Fines or suspensions imposed upon players for unnecessary roughness or unsportsmanlike conduct on the playing field with respect to an opposing player or players shall be determined initially by a person appointed by the Commissioner after consultation concerning the person being appointed with the Executive Director of the NFLPA, as promptly as possible after the event(s) in question.https://nflpaweb.blob.core.windows....aining-Agreement-Final-Executed-Copy.pdf
