Cut our FB and pick up a blocking TE. Nothing wrong with that.

Haha 😂

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

@MikeGarafolo
The #Browns are signing veteran OL Joe Haeg, source says. With RT Jack Conklin working his way back from knee surgery, Haeg provides depth at tackle and he can play guard, too. Haeg met with the #Raiders last week but heads to Cleveland instead.

Pretty good signing.

According to PFF:

Overall: 67.5
Pass blocking: 74.8
Run blocking: 55.1

Again, the grading scale is:

90-100: Elite
85-89: Pro Bowler
70-84: Starter
60-69: Backup
0-59: Replaceable

Snaps at Positions:

LT: 89
LG: 43
C: 0
RG: 78
RT: 94
TE: 3

Decent grades, especially for a backup. Versatile guy who can move to both tackle and guard positions. My only concern is the Steeler OL is horrible, so why didn't they keep him?

Wonder if that TE: 3 is prophetic.

I looked at his career(Jesse James) so far. Not much accomplished.

All those guys we had at camp must have been bad because James is a bubble player at this point.

My real concerns are Winfrey and Togiai. Elliott could be ok. Bryan is average at best. So, playing these draft picks at this point is just justifying their draft selection as developing players.

I understand developing players. However, I don't see why we don't have a veteran backup. It looks we are inviting teams to run up the gut. In addition the base defense is 4-2-5. So it forces us use a 4-3 on first down. That takes away from our strength to use nickle and dime.

If we could count on DT we would not have to do that. So, it bugs me. Winfrey and Togiai need to show more than they have.

Sheldon is out there.

Maybe he burnt bridges. I am not understanding the DT position. Average will do if you rotate average and keep them fresh.

The issue I see if there is an injury or you use Winfrey and Togiai in rotation. You are going from average to below average.

I am ok at receiver because there is TE's and backs you can throw to and I like Bell, DPJ, and Cooper.

I am not ok with what I have seen from Winfrey and Togiai.

I halfway thought Winfrey should have been cut and added to the PS

Not a fan of this signing. I mean, it's not going to hurt anything......but, he is not very good at all.

From what I saw Bryan was pretty good. I might drop the "at best' and say he is average. I am good with average. As for James, who knows? I always thought of him as more of a receiving threat. I think went to Miami and caught a good number of passes there. How he has been used as a pro I couldn't say.

The Browns added a qb in Mund.

They added a TE James. And a OT Haeg. And they released Forbes.

They must feel alright about DT. They have looked at this position group since spring till now.

So the conclusion must be they like what they have.

We will find out as teams try to run the ball on us.

No doubt. Regular pay is way better than PS pay.

He was stuck behind a deep OL, but he was given ample opportunity to distinguish himself. Good luck to him.

I always liked Preston Williams from Miami. I’m not sure he has the speed needed, but he played well when I’ve seen him before

Possibly. At this point in his career I think he is pretty happy to be an active player on a roster. I would guess being on the practice squad would get you a ring if that happened.

That would be pretty cool to find out. I know it is up to the owners to decide but I would think there are some pretty basic guidelines most owners follow on who all gets a real ring?

Just to follow up my question...it looks like the league approves around $6000 per ring for 150 rings. Owners can add to the cost if they wish. So it looks like a team has 150 rings to distribute.

Ok...some had nice things to say.

I wouldn't expect players to trash the guy in public.

I think it might be more wise to actually read JJ's comments independently of the author's commentary that prefaces and/or follows each quote.

From the article this guy pulled from.

"“I wouldn’t say we took sides. We just wanted to see our guys happy, either side. At a point, Baker decided he didn’t want to be here anymore or X, Y, Z. He put stuff out there so, I mean, hey, it’s a team game, but there’s an individual aspect to it. Unfortunately, guys come and go, so we just have to deal with it.”

What is missing here is the time in which Baker 'decided' he wanted out, but as I mentioned earlier before, Baker and the Browns (I'd specifically suggest Stefanski) were done with one another long before the Watson stuff came into the fold.

Here is the article Jasper Jones plucked from.
