Before yesterday, Tom Brady was 218-0 when holding a 7pt lead in the final 2 minutes of a game.

Hot damn. But to be fair that speaks to his team as well as himself. I wonder what the stats are when he trails by less than 7 with ball in hand in the last 2 minutes - I bet those stats are outrageously good too and to me would be more about Brady than Team (and D)

Yesterday it was the D that saved the O. For all the gushing in this thread, going 55 game minutes without scoring a TD is never good. Game ball to the D.

Nice win over the Bucs. The push for the playoffs is on! Hey, one can dream.

1. ST were good this week. DPJ with punt returns, Ford on KR, Bolorquez (sp) huge punt in OT. Shankipotamus York never gives me the warm fuzzy, however.
2. D stood tall most of the game, especially late. Garrett and Emerson, in particular.
3. There was a Schwarz sighting - looked fast on that end around. Had not seen that before - must be the white shoes. Good catch and run later in the game as well.
4. Great to see KS stick with Chubb late in the game and run the ball - big time run at end of game to get in the red zone. Chubb was huge (lol) as usual.
5. Joke with his best catch of his career and on par with JJ's catch a few weeks ago.
6. Shout out to JB - did yourself proud.

I've heard that, but like Burns, I don't see any evidence of that actually occurring.

I dont know antyhing about kicking, but if that’s the case the punter is much more expendable than the kicker

I'm not even sure it's something we would actually notice with our own eyes. Only York, Bojorquez and the coaching staff may truly know the answer. Interesting to consider nonetheless.

Here were comments from Jay Feely when Bojorquez was the holder for Bass in Buffalo.

There was confusion and perhaps some distasteful feelings when the Bills decided not to bring back punter Corey Bojorquez after his stellar season punting in 2020. The Bills signed from Dolphins punter Matt Haack who Bills fans had last seen trying desperately to tackle Isaiah McKenzie on a punt return in the 2020 regular season finale.

But the Bills made it clear that their decision wasn’t solely based on punting, but on another critical factor in Tyler Bass’s production this season: holding.

Jay Feely made it clear that he felt Bass’s early struggles as a rookie were in part due to Corey Bojorquez’s inconsistent holding.

“A bad holder could make me miss every kick, and no one would know it. If he misses that spot by 2 inches, and he’s 2 inches back, I’m gonna push the ball, if it’s 2 inches forward, I’m gonna pull the ball.”

Feely went into much more detail about the angles of the ball when it hits the ground, how the kicker see the laces and feels confident in the kick, how some kickers prefer the ball to be at an angle, where the holder should or shouldn’t be catching the ball, etc. But suffice it to say, holding, like the other parts of football, is an extremely detail-oriented job. Former Pro Bowl punter Pat McAfee talked about how he had no idea how to hold a FG coming out of college, and when he was drafted by the Colts, Adam Vinatieri sent him to his former holder, Ken Walter to learn how to hold FGs for him.

As far as the game, it's all been said. I was happily surprised.

Question, though. Recent posts: Why is the punter automatically, seemingly, the holder on f.g.'s and e.p.'s? Why not just have a good hands person do it?

I like him as a punter, now there may be an issue with him.

Worse part of it, the issue isn't about his foot and kicking.

It's about his hands and holding.

I wouldn't say that beating a 5-5 Bucs team with a declining Brady in overtime says "that they can be as good as any team" but I get the excitement.

The Bucs are not that good. They lost to the Steelers. Their oline can't run
Block. Brady is on the decline. They play in the weakest division in the NFL.
The Browns won and a win is a win. But the Bucs are not a SB contender

Thanks for posting this. Like I said earlier........I've watched his holds closely after reading the stuff about his past struggles. Couldn't see a thing.

York needs a good coach to coach him up and help with issues like this.

Another sign of Priefer being awful

Bojorquez needs to hold Priefer and Cade needs to plant his foot !

Who knows, I would certainly hope so. There were similar complaints about the kicking woes with Priefer at ST coach during his time in Minnesota with Daniel Carlson and Blair Walsh.

They got rid of Carlson after only two games after drafting him in the fifth round.

In the end, the Browns will just have to be patient with York. Give him time to grow.

I agree that you gotta stick w/York. There are so many kickers who struggled early on, got cut, and went on to have success elsewhere. He's our guy. Just hope he gets better next season.

When I was watching as a kid in the late 60s, early 70s, most teams' holder seemed to be the backup QB.

I don't know about that. Seems to me you want a "hands" person doing the holding. Someone that WILL catch the snap, and get it down. And an inch or so off angle? I don't think that makes much of a difference. Angled side to side, perhaps.

I've always liked the backup Qb holding. Gives you better opportunity for a fake Fg and forces the other team to be much more aware of the possibility. I think teams go with the punter because they can send the K, P, and LS off on their own to work on things

Teams used to hold FGs with their backup QBs much more often but have gone away from it in recent years
