Yeah, I got a little sick to my stomach when I read that. I'm hoping it's false.

The Jake Paul thing is perhaps the weirdest thing I have ever seen us do. JW Johnson or J-Dubbs as you call him, comes across as an eccentric idiot. He scares me. Seriously, I am not kidding. To think of him taking over one day is truly frightening.

That bumbling idiot calls himself J-Dubs! I'm just happy to oblige in referring to himself as such.

I knew we were sunk when I saw him post this a few years back. My face turned red in embarrassment for him.

Brutal comments:

https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/zvtf1i/nfl_on_cbs_lowest_passer_rating_this_season_min/

Wow, Watson is straight-up hated by the common NFL fan. And last year, at the beginning of the 2021 season, most of the NFL talking heads had us going to the Super Bowl or deep into the playoffs at a minimum. They thought we had become legit contenders. We are falling apart at the seams two typical Browns seasons later. Brilliant!

Edit: Not to mention that this past week or so, all of the tell tale signs of yet another implosion and rebuild reboot is just around the corner. Maybe that's how Haslam and company will screw us this upcoming offseason.

Not surprised but absolutely brutal comments.

A couple of days ago Colin Cowherd on the Herd said that he didn’t watch the Browns any longer because he didn’t like us. I’m by no means a fan of Colin, probably the opposite, but it’s not good when a national media heavy weightier starts to openly dislike our franchise. It’s can in the long run affect our pulling power on FA.

I seems like the honeymoon is over. Another two more questionable performances and it will be a long winter break for our $230m franchise QB.

Watson > Cowherd when it comes to attracting FAs.

Goodness, the nonsense on here....we now have someone manufacturing an argument that NFL players will listen to a daytime media shows over a team w/ a potential franchise QB...or even guaranteed money.

Pure comedy.

You make think so but I’m not sure you’re right.

Colin has quite a few powerful connections inside the NFL who frequently appears on his show. He has a direct line to both Burrow and Allen, that’s not cat [censored]. If the media wind blows against Watson only good results can change the narrative. (look at Baker)

Players are humans and in a 50/50 situation everything’s counts.

I agree with you. But then the Browns have far less guaranteed money to throw around to fill those FA needs than they used to. And with no 1st round picks for the next few years they're going to need it to fill the holes they have and continue to have over those next three years.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

The message is J-Dubs is our unfortunate future.

Side note: Is JW the son of the Jets' owner Johnson? Of the Johnson and Johnson Fortune?

He's not the son of the Jets owner and I do not believe an heir to the J&J fortune.

He graduated from Ole Miss with a bachelors degree in broadcast journalism. He worked for CBS Sports and eventually Dee's media company RIVR Media where he presumably met their daughter, Whitney.

Man, if these mutts wasted three first-rounders and the biggest fully guaranteed contract in NFL history on low character QB with elite promise that fails to pan out, how BROWNS would that be? SMH.

Seriously, DW HAS TO BE ELITE, or we're toast with all our weaknesses and lack of signing resources (picks and budget). At this point, I don't see much better coming from him this year, but we need Elite DW to show up in game one next year. I hope he puts in a lot of off-season work.

Lmao, ok, enough of that; I don't want anyone to have a panic attack or a stroke over what a month ago I thought would be impossible. I want the highly unlikely FLOP some seem worried about to have no chance to materialize. That will all depend on how dedicated Watson is while sitting with a $230 million fully guaranteed and being raked over the coals for his off-field stuff. If he never took another snap, he'd still be paid, and it's plenty to live off of the rest of his life.

Hopefully, we can end the season on a high note and not do stupid crap in the offseason. I think some applauses' would make him a little more comfortable and probably silence some of the attacks.

No emojis, but I got a pic of a man's face and not one but two question marks to a question that amounts to a 'I know you are but what am I' response.

Alrighty then. Let's do the board a favor and end this back and forth. You win, I lose. I can't comeback from that latest response. I'm not smart enough.

Browns Nick Chubb Makes Final Call on Playing Out Season Amid Injury

By Max Dible
Updated Dec 29, 2022 at 10:30am
Nick Chubb, Browns

The Cleveland Browns have been eliminated from playoff contention, leaving injured stars like Nick Chubb with decisions to make on whether to play out the remainder of the year.

But for the Browns Pro-Bowl running back, that call isn’t really a decision at all. Reporters asked Chubb if he’d spoken with head coach Kevin Stefanski or any other team officials about shutting it down for the final two games of the season.

“Not at all,” Chubb replied.

“[The foot] felt good, everything about it,” he continued, speaking in reference to Cleveland’s game against the New Orleans Saints last Saturday. “For the most part, I didn’t feel anything.”

Chubb sustained the injury against the Baltimore Ravens on December 17, then missed multiple practices in the week leading up to the matchup with the Saints.

The running back has fallen short of 100 yards rushing in each of the last four contests, per Pro Football Reference, despite ranking among the NFL’s best rushers with 1,344 yards on the ground through 15 games this season. Chubb has also tied his career high of 12 rushing touchdowns this year, though he has not found the end zone in any of the Browns’ four previous outings.

Status of 2 Browns Starters in Question Heading Into Week 17

Jadeveon Clowney, Browns

Aside from Chubb, two of the Browns other heavy hitters are battling through injuries in hopes of playing this weekend in Washington.

Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney suffered a concussion against the Ravens and missed last week’s contest against the Saints. He will continue to move through the league’s concussion protocol this week, though Stefanski was guardedly optimistic about the pass rusher’s status when he spoke with the media Wednesday.

“I expect him to practice, so he is getting better,” Stefanski said.

Clowney was a limited practice participant on Wednesday, per the team’s official injury report.

The other injury of note is on the offensive side of the ball and involves starting left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. The lineman sat out practice Wednesday due to an issue with his back and is questionable to go this weekend.

“We are just working through something,” Stefanski said. “We will see how the week goes and see how the next couple of days go.”

Chubb Talks Browns’ Disappointing End to Hopeful 2022 Season

Pushing through injuries late in a lost season can, at times, feel like a fruitless endeavor likely only to bring dangerous consequences rather than meaningful ones — namely more or worsened injuries to players like Chubb, Clowney and Wills, and poorer draft position come the spring of 2023.

Chubb assumed a different perspective on the circumstances, however.

“It is disappointing for sure,” he said of Cleveland falling short of the playoffs this year. “We had our chances, but we didn’t make the most of it and here we are. We are who we are. We have two more times to go out there and play, and play for each other and play for the city. That is [the] bright thing about it. It is not over yet.”

If the Browns defeat the Commanders Sunday, they open a window for the Green Bay Packers to make the playoffs in the NFC. Depending on how next weekend shakes out across the NFL, Cleveland may also be in position to play spoiler to the division rival Pittsburgh Steelers who remain tenuously in the AFC Wildcard chase with two games to play.

Deshaun Watson, Amari Cooper planning to meet for extra reps over offseason

Cooper believes the offseason work will help make up for time he’s missed in practice due to a hip injury
Dec 29, 2022 at 05:13 PM

Anthony Poisal
Staff Writer

The Browns' QB1 and WR1 have already started making plans to meet up and get better over the offseason.

WR Amari Cooper said Thursday that he wants to practice with QB Deshaun Watson at some point over the offseason to take in some extra throws and improve chemistry.

"Oh yeah, 100 percent," Cooper said. "I know we will. I already asked him where he's going to be at this offseason yesterday. We're going to work together a lot."

Watson was all-in on the meet up and wants other Browns teammates to join them, too.

"I'm not exactly sure where we are going to work out, but we're definitely going to get time to get the timing and everything that you want for the next season adjusted and well worked out," he said. "Then, for anybody else, I know there are going to be a lot of changes. That's how the NFL offseason goes, especially in the offseason. After the season, we will talk with (Head Coach) Kevin (Stefanski), we'll talk with AB (Executive Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager Andrew Berry) and try to give a guess at who is going to be here, and then get everyone that, especially offensively, who can come out and train with us and be on the same page so we can get as many reps as we can to catch up."

Watson and Cooper are looking to find an improved connection in the final two games after a bit of a slow start since Watson became the starter four games ago. Cooper's highest receiving yards total with Watson at QB was the 72 yards he totaled last week against the Saints, and the duo have connected on just half (16-of-32) of Watson's targets to Cooper, who also hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 11 in Buffalo.

Cooper's practice reps with Watson, however, have been limited the last three weeks due to a hip injury he suffered in practice in Week 14, just four days after Watson made his Browns debut against the Texans. He's practiced just three times in a limited capacity since the injury and has missed the chance to take more reps with Watson outside of games.

"It just so happened that when Deshaun came back, I kind of got banged up more," he said. "We probably haven't been getting as many reps as we'd like together."

But Cooper, who crossed the 1,000-yard plateau for the season last week for the sixth time in his career, hopes to change that this offseason.

"In the offseason, we'll just build a lot more chemistry together," Cooper said. "He'll know me as a football player more, and I'll know him as a football player more, for sure."

That's good rhetoric and it makes for an article that might excite some that haven't paid attention, but since they've already been together since last March, I fail to see how it means anything. They've literally already had a full offseason together.

It's called stalling. It's called buying time. It's called excuses. Look, DW is on the books. I'd like to see improvement, as would/does anyone. Next year (always next year, right?) will tell the story.

It will.

I don't see any changes at the top this year. Next year is a different deal. The team is set to win. Stefanski will get to retool his coaching staff, but there won't be any room if it fails. The same goes for the FO. It's all chips on the table for them at this point. Haslam and the fans have ridden this train about as far as it goes. It is now or never to push this thing over the top.

I am not saying it is Super Bowl or bust, but we need to win 10 or so games and be solidly positioned for a playoff run. Not just sitting there at seasons end hoping this team or that team loses. We just need to plain flat be in the playoffs. Either by winning the division or winning so many games there is no question we make the playoffs.

I am not even saying we need playoffs wins, but we need to look good in the playoffs. We can't one and done in the playoffs by going out and laying an egg in the 1st round game. As Browns fans, we know the difference between losing a tough game and simply getting beat like a drum.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Personally, I don't think Cooper or Watson were "stalling." I do not think they were "buying time." I guess one could say they were making "excuses," but I didn't take their comments that way. I just thought they were giving an honest take on what they planned to do this off-season.

I took it as a fluff piece, with the goal of a little deflection. I mean the news is positive - right? Practice in the offseason is good. But what other team in the NFL is talking about their QB and receiver(S) and what they are planning on doing in the offseason. I mean some team's fans might be talking about what they are going to draft - we would be too probably, if we had a 1st round pick. But we read stories back in April about Watson practicing with the team in voluntary camp - I remember reading WR's gushing over Watson's talent and how good he looked - same sort of fluff piece with a different agenda at that time.
