Obviously there are many reasons to why this franchise is labeled The Factory of Sadness.
The most responsible for that label is clearly the perception of this team from its fans.
I feel mostly responsible as for the past 23 years I have failed to find a true Lucky Cleveland Browns shirt.

It's because some people complain about the teams results on a message board.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Perfect. I was ready to start it. I am glad you did.
I would have added "And will Always Suck."
I will join the pity parade.
Paul Brown the Cleveland Browns founder gets fired. That sure sucked.
Well at least old Paul never got it done with the Bengals.
Paul Warfield gets traded. Well that sure sucked.
Come on everyone join in. We have lots of years to cover.

So you complain when people say the team has sucked in other threads then come and complain about this thread. "What are things that don't surprise us for $500 Alex?"

Missed again Pit. Not even close like horseshoes.
I am not complaining. I think it is fun. Here at last the Browns suck thread.
Jump in. Let it all go right here in this very thread.
Let's hang Modell. Darn, he is dead already. Well I guess we can find his grave and piss on that.
Really make your list. Maybe it will be therapeutic.

Not on topic.
Come on let some demons go. I know you want to. "With the first selection The Browns select Baker Mayfield."
Let it go really. I was pissed because I wanted Sam Darnold.
Number One for me why the Brown Suck!!!!
I have been waiting for a quarterback like Otto Graham or, Johnny Unitas since forever. And I am still waiting.
I am running out of time. I will hope DW becomes a better man and in the process win the Browns a Super Bowl.

Really tell me why the Browns suck for you. Deshaun Watson. Go ahead say it.
Let it out. Evil forever low life who sucked for six games. He sucked for six games and he will suck for 23 because he sucked for six games.
What else? Byner's fumble? Seriously that really hurt me. Really bad. More than The Drive.

Useless thread. Any legitimate conversation that could transpire here - and it hasn’t as of yet - could be done in an existing thread.

I feel mostly responsible as for the past 23 years I have failed to find a true Lucky Cleveland Browns shirt. Different years have different reasons or combination of reasons.. I'm not certain you can pin down one thing that caused the team to suck.. Everything from bad coaches, bad talent, bad ownership. Art wasn't ever going to win a superbowl until he turned over the day to day to Ozzie. Al was a decent man but listened to Carman too much. His son never met a press conference that he couldn't turn into a word salad. I had high hopes for Jimmy but so far, I'm not thinking he has what it takes either. And then, there's finding the lucky Browns Shirt that we've failed at.

My father was the ultimate Browns fan. He used to talk about their championship win in 1964. I even remember watching it with him, though I was to young to understand much about it. He passed on in 1998 at the age of 83. He was heartbroken when the Browns left Cleveland. Unfortunately he passed on before they returned.

Bonefish, PREACH!
Fans sometimes need to remember organizations need to grow. Success comes at a cost.
You never move forward being like everyone else. You pay to forge your own path.
Being from Cleveland, as a city, we have done things differently to succeed. Right?
I mean seriously the Browns organization never were successfully doing what others have done.
If we are to succeed, it's got to be the Cleveland way, no?
I also agree this is very painful and for the love of football can we see some sign this time it'll f'n work!!!!
GO BROWNS!

Guessing/Assuming that this thread should have been in purple? A response or some angst because of some of the negativity? I see posts with people frustrated that other posters "constantly" bring Stefanski into threads etc? Or that posters have an agenda to simply bad mouth Stefanski.
It reminds me more than a little bit about when we had a QB that some posters thought was the root cause of the team's woes. . . we talked about the QB in depth, but then when we talked about how bad our WR core was - the QB was blamed by those posters who thought he sucked really badly . . . When we talked about the OL - the QB was blamed by those same posters because he held the ball too long or created his own pressure ... When we talked about the defense - the QB was mentioned and partially blamed for not sustaining drives and creating turnovers forcing the defense to play without much rest. Hell - to talk about the banged up the banged up OL or how bad some of the receivers were simply got you labeled by some as making excuses for the QB. There was much vitriol about said QB in "nearly every thread".
Obviously there are no absolutes and there is no "all" or "never" - but it does seem to me that some of the posters who made everything about that QB in every thread and who labeled other posters then are the ones now complaining loudest about others with differing opinions about the direction of the team and when Stefanski gets talked about so much and so frequently now.
One last point - debating and expressing opinions on any subject, even if you are constantly rebutting others opinions, never means they are trying to silence posters or silence an opinion - nor does it stop others from expressing contrary opinions as often as they like.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

You're blaming the fans for sucking??
The fans don't draft the players, get FAs, coach the team, or play...
you could have the most optimistic or pessimistic fans... it doesn't matter... the people in the building and the culture in the building is 100% what drives if the team is great or not...

Tell the bone doctor where it really hurt? I don't think the Browns suck. They did suck but have clawed their way up to mediocrity. Well, I guess just under .500 is almost mediocrity. But it's certainly better than sucking. Some people seem pretty happy with that. Byner? And I've seen others reference that team that moved to Baltimore now known as the Ravens. That's not the tam we're talking about here. That team left Cleveland after the 1995 season along with Modell. The Browns are a team that joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1999. I think watson is a terrible human being. I think anyone with any moral fiber at all should agree with that. But in case you can't or haven't been reading my posts, I separate that from the football player in Pure Football. But don't let that stop you from just making BS up.

I think half the board has lost its mind. Purp is a good dude for making this place so we can all come together and talk about sports. And I have never seen a rule stating any normal poster has any say whatsoever about what another normal poster may or may not post. Not once, since the day DT opened, has this been a thing... now suddenly, we got posters passing out lil' Napolean vibes in every damn thread. I think it's time to find a better way to spend my time until actual football crap comes around again.

you could have the most optimistic or pessimistic fans... it doesn't matter... the people in the building and the culture in the building is 100% what drives if the team is great or not... The fans buy the tickets and the merch and are an extremely negative bunch. This affects the bottom line and put pressure top down and bottom up. We have the most negative fanbase ever. I dont need an article to tell me that. I can see it since 1980s.

j/c Many years ago, we had a thread that popped up in the "Gameday/Looking Back" forum. It was entitled: "It's My Fault...." Posters took turns sharing how each were to blame for CLE's most recent Sunday afternoon debacle. It was one of the funniest, cleverest exchanges I'd read in a long time. On ANY of my message boards of the time. Went on for more than a page, if I recall. Laffs aplenty, with some scathing Browns gallows humor. Everyone was on-board. We were all of like mind- and we managed to have a great time, wallowing in our shared misery. At the time, I thought it was the perfect antidote to how dark the season had been, and actually made me feel a touch closer to the board... misery loves company, and all. When I read bone's first post, I thought, "This could go somewhere, and maybe be like that thread years ago-" I was ready to jump on. I think the passing years have stripped some of our camaraderie from us. Or maybe I'm remembering a time when I was unaware of thread/interposter subtexts. At any rate, it's been a long time since we've been able to enjoy a thread like that. Those pun-heavy threads that popped up spontaneously are fewer and farther apart, as well. A little something has been lost from this place over time, and I miss it. We had a s# ier team, but were better fans/friends. I'm no one to preach; over the years, I've dropped my fair share of turds into the punch bowl as well. This one just hit me, because I felt like there was potential for some Olde-Schoole freestyle creative flexing. We got some smart, funny people here. We just seem to be in a rut that keeps us from letting our funny out. That said: I feel mostly responsible as for the past 23 years I have failed to find a true Lucky Cleveland Browns shirt. I feel mostly responsible because I washed my lucky Quincy Morgan 81 jersey (for the first time) the day before the 'Dwayne Rudd Helmet Toss Game.' S#'s been wrong, ever since-

To me it is like the movie "Network."
"I am mad as hell and I am not going to take it anymore."
I want the posters to exorcise all their demons. Put it all in one space instead on every thread of how we suck and will always suck.
"DW will never win a Super Bowl for Cleveland." "Jason la Canfora thinks DW will never recover mentally."
"Kevin Stefanski is not a leader" (because I know I am a fly on the locker room wall.)
"Kevin Stefanski doesn't care about winning" so we will always suck.
We suck because we have a history of sucking so we will always suck. Haslam sucks so as long as Haslam owns the team we will always suck.
We suck because we traded for DW. Well maybe he sucks but that doesn't mean the whole team sucks.
So, all the frustration and pain many feel let's get it all out. Tell us what hurt the most.
Maybe if we can exorcise all our demons. Maybe we can look at the flip side. We almost lost the Cleveland Browns for good. We had years that we could not complain about anything. How were those apples?

I've always understood the old saying, "Wish in one hand and crap in the other one. See which one fills up faster."
People are going to vent. And it's not going to be in some neat little area you wish it would be. It's always been that way. It's not against any rules on the board. It's a natural frustration that has built over the course of years since 1999. It's not some new phenomenon. The only new phenomenon is people trying to control the narrative.
It's the yin to the yang and yang doesn't like it. That isn't really going to change anything.

For anyone that has been reading this board over the years, there's nothing contrarian about what I posted. There have always been posters that have been critical about everything from the coaches to the players, to the owner and almost everything in between. That is a very factual account of what we have seen here. I'm not the one in denial of that or deciding they now wish to control the narrative. Making the issue about me is a very shallow response.
Rather than firing shots, please explain what about my post above isn't accurate. Are you saying that a portion of the fan base isn't happy with the teams performance? That people haven't vented on this board for years now? That those things haven't cropped up in multiple threads for years? That those posters are somehow breaking the rules of the board? Or is it your claim that frustrated people don't vent?
My post is 100% accurate and a feeble attempt to blame me for posting a factual account of what everyone has seen on this very board over several years doesn't work. And please don't discount yourself that way. I consider you as far more than a bowl of hair.
What I posted wasn't an argument as much as you would like to make it so.
Don't worry, I don't actually expect you to address those facts.

As I expected, not addressing any of the factual statements in my post and blaming me for posting it. This is what happens when you're faced with the truth. Sad really. Rather than address the message you attack the messenger. Becoming the very thing you claim to dislike.

I'll try this again to try to keep you on track since following the thread seems to be something you care so much about. Maybe you could try to stick with addressing the content instead of blaming me for posting it this time. Though I doubt it.

That people haven't vented on this board for years now? That those things haven't cropped up in multiple threads for years? That those posters are somehow breaking the rules of the board? Or is it your claim that frustrated people don't vent? I understand how trying to blame me for posting an accurate account of things is convenient for you, but going off on me for it doesn't change that it's all true. Focus.

I never expected you to face the facts. I explained exactly how things have gone on here since the beginning. Rather than discuss these facts you avoid it like the plague. Suddenly now a select few have decided they want everything to change. That posters should change the way things have always been. That they should conform to their wishes. One even critiques the very people who run this board for not running things the way he thinks they should. So you think avoiding all of this can simply be explained away by blaming me for creating a rabbit hole? No, it's a select few of you trying to control the way others post by labeling them and acting like you're not trying to change the way the board has always been.
Thanks for showing that you refuse to address anything factual and blame others for calling you to task on that.

So you are denying that you and a few of your comrades have been complaining about other threads being "hijacked" by other posters? Or are you denying that it was some of you that suggested a thread should be started explaining why some fans think the Browns suck and that is the very reason for this thread? Or are you denying that my assertions about how this board has always been are wrong or false?
What a surprise!
