Funny thing is a work in a predominantly black neighborhood. When I worked days i used to hit some of the local soul food spots and get fried chicken, greens, and mac and cheese and the some of the blacks I worked with would joke that I must have some black in me , or I was going to turn black eating like that.

One part I never undertood is how did Polish boys turn into soul food.

Now I work nights so I dont go to those places... are you crazy I am not going out at night in that neighborhood

It sounds like the predominantly black neighborhood he is talking about is a crime filled cesspool at night........that's probably why he doesn't want to go there in the evenings

Taco Bell puts me in the bathroom prison. Good going down, but.............

Decades ago, when I lived in Columbus, there was a chain called Zantigo that blew Taco Bell out of the water as far as food went.

I think I still have a promotional cup from them somewhere. lol

As long as we're talking "way back"....a friend and I went to the Colts Bills game back in about 1990 or so.....my friend went to college with, and was a friend of, Brad Lamb. He played with the Bills for a year or 2.

On the way back, hungry, we stopped in Anderson, IN (where my friend went to college, and where Lamb went to college.) It was a Monday night game, if I'm not mistaken. So, anyway, the only place open at 1:30 was White Castle. We ordered, we ate. We got home. We both went to work the next day.

At church leage basketball the next night - we both discussed the finer aspects of puking white castle sliders.......we both had gotten sick the next day.

I don't do white castle.

The best thing about White Castle is the moment you eat

The worst is the next day, when you feel like hell and crap all day

I think it's ridiculous that this is even being discussed. If he would have said pizza and pasta it would have made the same point that Vick needs to watch what he eats and stay in shape.

If he had it to do again he would have chosen different foods but how do you know he didn't pick those foods because that's what he just had for dinner so it was fresh in his mind.

This is another case of the PC police being overly critical.

I don't think it was a racist comment in the least, probably just saying the first thing that came to his mind. But, I'm not surprised at people's reactions saying it was racist.

I honestly believe no one thought his comments were racist. I believe there are some people that just hearing the words "fried chicken" or what-have-you, were jumping for joy that they could throw the race card and whine about something.

good...I wouldn't really want you to care...that way I don't have to care about you...so if you find yourself stuck in one of "those" neighborhoods...I'll make sure to laugh my arse off if something foul were to befall you!

I think more people like you were excited because now you can complain and whine about people using the race card. I haven't a single person complain about what he said.

Let me get this right,, it's considered racist if Blank mentions Fried Chicken?

Are we saying that if he'd said,, Oh I don't know,,, how about Pasta,, had he said that if MV doesn't eat a lot of Pasta,, then that would have been ok?

Sorry,, I don't see the racism here.. Vick is from the south,, He played in Atlanta,, (that's in the south by the way)... People in the south,, Black, White, whatever,, ALL EAT FRIED CHICKEN.. They all do! doesn't matter the color.. I'm a white guy,, I love fried chicken,, LOVE IT TO DEATH.. I also like Pasta (being italian, that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone)

Sorry man, I just am NOT buying the race card on this...

It's the times we live in man.

That guy isn't a racist.....but too many people want something for nothing and like to tarnish people who have accomplished something.

No wonder some people are stuck in a culture of poverty and ignorance.

Oh Jesus! I was watching when he said that and I knew it would turn out this way.

For one, fried food is very popular in the south. And two black people like fried chicken, I like fried chicken, millions of americans like fried chicken. What is the big deal? There was a black dude sitting right beside him when he said it!

Amen. This, and our backwards ass "penalize those that have and do in order to subsidize those that won't." mentality.

If anyone knew the amount of money - workers tax money - that was nothing but a redistribution of wealth - if people knew that amount their would be a serious crisis in this country.

For whatever damn reason too many people take the "that ain't fair" position..................(only when the "that ain't fair" position means they would get something for nothing.)

This country has fallen in a big way. And it's only going deeper.

And trust me, the answer is not to "raise taxes".

Tell me about it. Do you think I like working my ass off and seeing money coming out of my pocket only to see a person living in a brand new low rent housing unit driving a better car than me that doesn't even have a job? It's complete BS.

Not to mention the way the system is trying to bring up children these days. Trying to protect them from every little thing because it might hurt their feelings. You know it's bad when little league baseball isn't even allowed to chatter something in parts of the country for fear of hurting someones feelings. People are trying to nurture and shelter these kids and all they are doing is turning these kids into a bunch of wussies. Personally I think it's because of all the tree hugging draft dodgers are in office now.

I'm black and don't see this as being racist... I can see where some may come with the fried chicken thing, but he also mentioned french fries . So since he added that, its okay!!

Never again, yuck.

You didnt answer the question about Polish Boys. A Polish Sausage is called a Polish Sausage. A polish Boy is Polish Sausage on a bun with Frys, BBQ sauce and cole slaw, all the soul food spots have them. How did that develop into soul food??

You answered your own question...you take a polish sausage and add fries, cole slaw, and bbq sauce...that's how it became soul food...and it's not something that is worldwide...you can't get a polish boy outside of the cleveland area...there are some places in Columbus that try to make them...but they're called "Cleveland Dogs" and they're not even close.

O.K. Maybe it's just me but the play on words there had me laughing at work . Seriously folks this is nothing but an opening for people to discuss racism and since not alot of people can discuss without sharpening thier own axes it devolves into a bunch of junk posts . I'll leave that to those people but I do like talking about food.

Speaking of "black" food I had the pleasure of eating at a resturaunt that specialized in African food ( Ethiopia, Somolia etc ) and I was blown away at the different spice combinations they used. Alot of paprika and others and I will say that it was extremely good although I'm not a big goat eater they had some very nice menu items. Indian food is another one of my favorites but I gotta watch which dish disappears down my gullet.
