Today is a feel-good day after that great win yesterday. I feel calm and that doesn't happen very often especially with my Browns. I'm going to enjoy it for the next few days before I start getting stressed over the Steelers. Enjoy everyone!!! smile

No way I'm getting stressed over the Steelers game

The Browns are going to smack them around and take another win

On their home field and in front of the fans

Only one way to think now

another thing I've said and noticed ... and it held true yesterday:

Watson is a slow starter and a confidence player. Once he feels it, he's tough to stop. And he kinda needs to be hit and knocked around a bit to feel it

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

#Browns coach Kevin Stefanski says he's not sure if OL Michael Dunn (calf) will come off IR this week but is getting better and better.

we could use Dunn

Momentum is often spoken of in sports. Yet it's hard to really define.

A baseball manager once said momentum is the next day's starter.

In football momentum is considered part of the game. Yesterday the Ravens got up 14 in the blink of an eye. They were playing with their families in the crowd.

They were leading in the third by 15. What happened?

Cleveland took over the game. In doing so they reshuffled the deck in the North. Before we play the Steelers Sunday. We could be playing for first place.

Do the Browns now have the momentum? Does DW now have that confidence? Does the team now believe the Browns are unstoppable?

Low key KS when DW threw the pic six. Did anyone notice him as he faced Deshaun coming off the field? He was lightly clapping. Telling Deshaun "we got this." It was KS calling the QB draw for two points.

Did the team quit on KS when everything went dark numerous times in the game?

Enjoy the week. Feel good about this team. We have waited a long time to feel good. It is ok now.

I've read a lot of criticism of KS on this board including calls to fire him. There were times I wondered why he called the plays he did, the Seattle game comes to mind, and why we gave up on the run so fast in some games, but the one thing I'll say the players love playing for him and they go to war for him. Case in point yesterday's game. After 14-0 I thought we were doomed but the players rallied and played their butts off for him. That speaks volumes!!!

ICYMI:

Garrett now has 11 sacks on the season. He joined Reggie White, John Randle, DeMarcus Ware, Jared Allen, Bruce Smith and Lawrence Taylor as the only players to have six consecutive seasons with at least 10 sacks.

That's quite an accomplishment by Garrett. Kareem Hunt has also scored a TD for five games in a row.

I believe Garrett will be the next and only the second HOF'er on the Browns since their return in 1999.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Man we got hurt by some BS calls yesterday - ticky tacky calls that 95% of the time quite rightly don't get called. On the interception in the end zone that was called back - [1] I want to again highlight the big hit laid on Lamar by Mike Ford ... kudos for a legal hit on a QB who didn't go out of bounds but wanted to gain another couple yards with a shimmy upfield instead of heading straight out. I don't know if it was a Browns game or a different game this season where commentators mentioned that whichever QB had just done it was going to get hit sometime if they kept doing that and that in effect it wasn't in the spirit of the game because defenders are so reluctant to hit running QB's in that situation ... so Kudos Mike Ford. [2] Of all the penalties we got hit with - while that hurt more than any, on the replay they did show that one of the defenders was yanking on a receivers jersey into the end zone, didn't let go and that penalty to my eyes was legit.

One other thought - whoever the guy is that filled in at LT needs to jump up past Hudson on the depth chart.

A random thought here.
It very well could have been a blessing Hop misses the game tying XP.
By missing it we played to get into FG range at the end instead of likely playing for OT had we been tied 31-31.
Just a thought maybe we would or maybe not but I'm glad how it turned out.
Great win and GO BROWNS!

One other thought - as they keep occurring to me - Jonathan Vilma has absolutely no business ever letting his voice be broadcast during a game again. That was one of the worst color commentaries I have heard ever.

Regarding the comeback, I was thinking this morning that to me the comeback is more impressive because of how slowly it took us to get going, I mean 14 point leads can be erased but normally you need a quick big play or 2. The Browns couldn't even punch it in the endzone in the first half.

It was all field goals up to that point for us, so when OBJ's TD made it a 15 point game, nothing had happened to that point to inspire the team to think they could score at least twice. They just kept fighting.

What a difference a year makes, eh? It's a different ballgame when you have a solid D and a kicker that makes kicks. Not very often you can "slow play" a double-digit deficit against a team like the Ravens.

I agree, this was the single most important aspect of yesterdays game imo. We had every imaginable reason to pack it in yesterday but we didn’t. The best team in football up until yesterday, at home, almost perfectly healthy against our pretty unhealthy O, a long history of owning us especially in their house, down 14 and 15 for over 59 minutes of the game... and yet!

Look, good teams don’t always win obviously. But they rarely collapse or get embarrassed. Never more than very rarely if ever. They’re much more likely to claw back and keep it interesting, even if they don’t have the talent. They don’t rely on hope, luck and getting breaks. They make their luck, they don’t hardly ever just roll over. See: this years Steelers. In years past, this game would have been over halfway thru the 1st quarter for us, all our talent be damned.

I really wasn’t sure we were capable of being a truly good team until yesterday. The kind that comes back when they have every reason not to. I thought we were the kind of team that has a good deal of talent but that truly good teams can come back against and take us out. The kind of team that beats lesser teams but needs lucky breaks, trick plays or for the other team to shoot themselves in the face to get over on the truly good teams.

We still have a lot of problems on O, but I think we answered some of the most important questions yesterday. My season outlook just changed very dramatically in 1 half, which never happens btw.

j/c:

I usually record all the games and watch 'em one more time before the week is over... This game I got so pissed off I turned the recording off and deleted it, midway through. Big mistake!

I watched the game highlights on youtube. It obviously isn't quite the same as watching the full game, but still enjoyable to watch.

If interested:

Indeed. On the other hand, if you're that guy you get trampled and fallen on by about 7-8 big people..

I said the same thing when we got the ball back ... especially after it was 2nd and 19. I said "If this was tied, we'd be content to punt it back"

Victory Monday is very sweet today.

I had the game on in the background while I was doing some other stuff in the garage. I wandered into the house in the 4th quarter after the interception by Newsome, who was shot out of a cannon to the end zone. Great recognition for a "backup" player according to clueless Vilma.

Njoku had his best game as a Brown and literally carried the team to victory.
Same for the rugby play with Ford at the end of the game. If you want to know something, Moore was pushing as well. Cred points.
Watson had a few throws that were highlight worthy, and that is now a couple of times that I have to say that was impressive. Until recently he has been pretty mediocre.
Watson was also willing to play and was gutting it out. Cooper is a fine player as well.

For all the talk of the defense to shut another team down, you still have to be able to compete in games that are not low scoring affairs. The Browns D was active, the Raisins D was active too. It was a fun watch. Good football is better than bad football as proven by the Jets/Raiders game.

The only stat that really matters is the W.

I will take an ugly 59:20 being behind every time victory over a last minute loss every time. It was unexpected.

See LA (Not San Diego) Chargers. Herbert and Allen are great, but they can't win a close game.

New signature line after visiting the Gameday thread.... sheesh.

There will be no playoffs. Can’t play with who we have out there and compounding it with garbage playcalling and worse execution. We don’t have good skill players on offense period. Browns 20 - Bears 17.
