What a hard fought game... Watson still needs to play better... he had some great plays, especially with his feet... but the pick six was a killer and he continues to miss wide open guys. Ford with a huge day! Cooper and Moore with a great day
Great job defense!!
Great job Hopkins! Way to shake off the missed Extra Point and nail the game winner.... We need to finish drives early though, getting FGs instead of TDs really hurts...
Welp, I’m gladly eating crow. Like I said, I prefer it with a nice mint chutney garnish and a glass of Merlot.
Very impressive. It was going just about exactly as I thought it would in the 1st half. I give DW a lot of credit for turning it around. He looked great in the 2nd half. Also Ski, that was a well called 2nd half with a rag tag OL. Najoku looked like what we wanted when we drafted him. Finally.
What a great feeling beating the best team in football at home at the height of the healthiness and from the bottom of the well. Anything’s possible now boys. I think they’re starting to believe
I have to eat some crow. Winning this game with back up all over the place is unreal. Stephanski deserves some accolades. Team win with great coaching all the way around
I know it was the 1st quarter, but I thought we was cooked.
The next 3 quarters looked like we can run with anybody!!
This game was so up and down, but what a great sign it is to see this team never giving up.
And Deshaun Watson. Man, dude gutted it out, made some crucial throws and scrambles.
He’s getting back to form whether the haters wanna admit it or not. He was the better QB on the field today!
I agree he’s getting better. But Lamar was still the best QB today. I didn’t expect a win and didn’t plan to lose either, Just thought we would battle and come up short. Looked that way all day. In the end, we finally took the lead and the game in the final 3 seconds. Unexpected win and I’m elated! Now we have a chance to take the division.
A win truly deserving of 2 post game threads. Biggest win of perhaps the past 3 years. Fortune pivoting game. We learned stuff today. Stuff that has to be learned to go the distance. That was a very gutsy fight back to the top. Super impressed right now. There was no asterisks with this one. We just beat the best team in football in their house, when they were just about totally healthy, with a rag tag OL, and came back from a deep hole. Serious kudos, especially DW and Ski. Well Done boys
Watson was 14-14 in the second half and led us to a come-from-behind win. In Baltimore. They each threw a pick six. The scoreboard says who was the better QB.
I'll take two helpings, please. I had very little faith and when the score hit 14-0, I turned it off and went outside to work in the pasture. Glad for the win, sorry to have missed it happen, gladly eating crow.
Yeah I don’t mind eating crow, feathers and all on this one. This was a statement, season defining type win. EVERYTHING was going wrong , and the team rallied . I don’t think we win this game with Baker. I have to keep reminding myself we don’t have Chubb and that’s such a huge thing to compensate for. But for me that tush push at the end showed how bad this team wanted it. They were fired up.
- WOW what a win - Credit to our OL down the stretch .. I wasn't happy with the (backups/2nd backups) OT but they really made their mark - Credit to Watson. He made some BIG plays for us .. .the throw to Cooper and the big run - Credit to Ford. He has earned more and more respect - Defense was huge down the stretch. We had them in hell after that big pass to Andrews
I will be honest. I thought the missed extra point would come back and bite us. It has happened so many times. I am 72 years old and have seen it way to many times. Glad I was wrong.
So at the 14-3 score, and the Browns showing as much life as Jimmy Hoffa, I bailed on the game. I went Lazy Boy shopping for my 91 year old Mom to see if I could find something with the features she wants. So disgusted, I didn't look up a score or nothing. Fast forward to about 4:05 I get home and tune into the game fully expecting some 45-3 type score and see 31-30 with the Browns apparently playing some actual ball. And of course, the Dayton Double Miracle unfolded before me, Browns pull out a win and the Bengals lose.
Moral of the story: You're all welcome. Seems like whenever I watch every millisecond they stink, but when I give up, they win. Go Browns! Steeler's Week inbound.
Who was our LT today, Christian #64? Where did he come from? Played not too bad....
He is a former 2018 3rd round draft pick by the Redskins. At that time, Bill Callahan was the Reskins OL coach and Assistant HC. He has battled injuries throughout his career.
Safe to say, Callahan had a large say in the Browns signing Geron Christian.
In October 1968 we went into Baltimore and beat what was at the time, considered to be the best team in the league the Baltimore Colts 30-20 and they were until the Super Bowl. We did the same thing today.!!! Hats off to my Cleveland Browns.
David Njoku just dragging defenders for extra yards.
The entire Oline on that last drive....especially the play where they pushed Ford ahead for an extra 10.
Hopkins for overcoming the miss and kicking the walkoff.
Z Smith for just steamrolling that OT. Good God that was awesome!
DW overcoming early mishaps and showing leadership......making plays when it counted. Looked like he was hurt while doing it.
Miles Garrett for having Lamar run scared all day, and the 2 consecutive sacks that seemed to just take the steam out of their offense.
Amari Cooper for just being himself and making clutch catches.
Newsome and the other defenders that circled Hopkins after the missed XP and looked like they were saying something like, "don't sweat it, we'll get you a chance to make it right". That's a team.
Great win in every sense. More later but if we're talking heroes, none bigger for me than Mike Ford for his big hit on Lamar.... And Hopkins. I can honestly say I thought he was going to make the game winner and felt 100% confident, well... 97% for sure.

What a game.
I agree completely about almost all of the posts, but one particular thing caught my attention, and it shows teamwork and attitude.
During the replay of the Ford run that turned into a scrum, the network replayed it to focus on Bitonio coming in late and pushing the pack for more. I then noticed this small body, #8, Elijiah Moore in the middle of that group of about 10 huge guys, driving his legs doing what he could. Now that little 180 lb receiver could have just taken the end of the play but he had guts and played to the end.
Rugby scrum indeed, & good that Ford kept churning his legs to give our big fatties a chance to push the pile. We out-muscled them on that play. Or out-gutted them.
Hopefully people will get on board and believe in this team. They showed incredible heart to fight back and win the game.
Took it away from the team that everyone was ready to crown. Lamar MVP. Nice pick six with the game on the line. Ravens where did your great great defense go?
Where was their great defense when we gave them point blank TD's. All they had to do was stop us. They could not stop us. 24-9 in the third quarter all you had to do was stop us.
Missed the xtra point. All they had to do was stop us. They could not stop us with their folks in their seats.
They couldn't stop our runner while we pushed him down the field. How did it feel Ravens to watch the clock run down while we lined up "The Game Winner."
DW overcoming early mishaps and showing leadership......making plays when it counted. Looked like he was hurt while doing it.
During after game interviews, bit Stefanski & Watson said he "hurt" his ankle or foot in the first half, had it retaped at halftime and played the 2nd. When asked if he thought about not going back in he said there was no question, I was playing.
just watching the final drive is so clutch .. Watson made 2 really good throws, had a good run, the OL stepped up, and then Hopkins nails it
I'm beginning to embrace the D Watson theme music, Urgent by foreigner which originally was a fitting farce.
I've never seen a Browns team win Twelve in the reg. season in my memory, and, that goes back to 80 something? but, , ... except for, Jax, Houston, maybe Pittsburgh
uh eh eeeh, the Browns, MAYY not end up ninth in the afc, uhhh, twelve wins, ehh MIGHT be possible, who knows.
They ain't won nothing yet, but best part of 6 and 3 is a chance to be seven and 3 next week.
This team had a 2 point lead in the 2nd half in Pittsburgh on Monday night football, 8 weeks ago.
It was a "no way are we going to win this " after the first few minutes. I was wrong, and am happy about being wrong.
I was ready to take my ball and go home at 14-0 also, amazing win and I guess that's why we make ourselves suffer and keep watching on those dark dreary blowout days.
Finally one paid off to keep watching. Thank you Browns.
all divison affair next week. Ravens v Bengals, Browns v Steelers...
Ravens, Browns, and Steelers all 6-3, Bengals 5-4
so by end of next week, one team will be 7-3, one team will be 6-4, and there's potential for the other two teams to be 6-4 or 7-3 and 5-5 unless ties... and that would make this even funnier
Wow! That surprised the heck out of me! Happy for the win, but I was yelling at the TV when KS had Walker throw that Hail-Mary pass at the end of the first half, smart play would have been to run a quick pass play to move a few yards closer then use our timeout and kick the FG. On to next week.
I think it was 4th down though and we had 0 timeouts
It might have been 4th down now that I think about it but I still would have tried the FG than the Hail-Mary.
Stefanski addressed this in post game presser. He said he thought 60 was too far and the Ravens had a returner near the goal line. I think he went for the safe play.
He keeps getting better incrementally. Oh, plus we’e won four of our last five games, beaten the alleged best team in football twice. First SF, now Baltimore. Something for everyone to chew on. 😂
How ? Watson lead a come back victory in the Ravens house
Get over your hate
You fan your way, I’ll fan my way!
Watson did good today, but there is a ton to clean up and he was a disaster in the first quarter. I’m feeling better about him, I’ll give you that, but he wouldn’t have needed to win a comeback if he hadn’t put us in a hole in the first place. Just saying. However, I think for the first time today, he may actually work out for us. That’s a big leap for me, because the BS that came with him disgusts me and I still don’t think he’s earned the titles Elite QB nor Franchise QB.
Myles may be getting tired of not having new faces to put in the Halloween graveyard of players he's sacked, in a few more weeks when they play Houston, maybe Myles can Add C. J. Stroud and with more than one sack.
I just know the next 3 games are very winnable (steelers, broncos, and rams), so we need to not take any of them lightly if we want to be a serious contender
Browns have 8 games remaining in the regular season are 6 and 3 after winning at Baltimore, 4 at home, 4 on the road,
Pittsburgh At Broncos At Rams in l a Jacksonville, in the DAWG POUND Chicago At Houston NY Jets, in Cleveland and At Cincinnati to finish... schedule game?
I just know the next 3 games are very winnable (steelers, broncos, and rams), so we need to not take any of them lightly if we want to be a serious contender
I really think this is one area Stefanski does well at. Let's them celebrate wins but quickly brings them back down to earth that they haven't accomplished anything.
I think it was 4th down though and we had 0 timeouts

So he tries a 50/50 jump ball that could have been intercepted and returned for a TD?, the odds were a lot higher with the FG being made than the Hail-Mary being successful. Hopkins is 22 out of 37 from beyond 50+ yards (59.5% success rate) while according to ESPN Hail-Marys are only 9.7% successful.

Many thanks, Milk. He held up well; pass protection by our Oline as a whole was pretty solid....

Let's take a look, Ya, snuffed the Bengal in game one, after they had been to the afc championship twice in 2 years. then, Ya, Had a 2 point lead in the 2nd half at Pitt on MNF< where nobody had beaten them at home on MNF in like 30 years.
Then, ya snuffed the titans which only had one drive, all by ref calls, and only reached the red zone once on a turnover for a drive that went negative nine? yards and ended in a field goal. then, ya played Baltimore at home, and played the outlier, the rookie @uarterback in his first ever action against, well we all know what Baltimore does on def. year after, year, the game was all b/c of turnovers, 3 to 28 loss
Then, ya Beat the forty niners after falling behind seventeen to 0, not allowing any more points and holding them to 3 and out 6 times in a row in the 2nd half, and their only drive... was b/c of ref penalty help , again.
then, ya had a bye week, then, ya played a Colts team on the road that was set to play well by law of averages, and the colt came out firing on all cylinders, but by the end of the game, the Browns won that one too. then, ya played a seahawk team all the way across the country and lost a close one, ... my memory ain't perfect I forget then, ya had Arizona at home, and the D Coordinator challenged the D, and... Ya smothered the Cardinals and held them to fifty eight net yards on the Day <<< historic,
then today came, and today, Ya had a player take a turnover to the TD on play number one, ya had a player muff a punt return to give the other team a new down set in your own ten yard line ya, had the Refs on no fewer than five different times help the other team continue a drive by throwing flags that didn't really occur and were away from the play, 3 in half one, and 2 in half two,
Ya had a coverage breakdown result in a td to your former WR. But you got your own TD, by Kareem Hunt, and the 2 point conversion, and got a number of field goals you missed and XP, but on the final play of the game ya hit a FG and came out with a win on the road in the Div.
Does that sound like contenders? you've had defensive touchdowns in 2 of your last 4 games... If ya can keep it up it does sound like contenders to me.
Stefanski pretending he doesn't know who they play next week.
Best part....none of the little Haslam terrors in sight.
its so hard not to like stefanski when you see how he interacts with players and the fact they fight for him. Can he do better in things, absolutely. But he def still has that locker room
I think it was 4th down though and we had 0 timeouts

Let me add to your post Fort….it would've been a career freaking long for Hopkins. Here’s some negative thinking that some of you love. Well, he could’ve have had the field goal blocked and returned for a TD. He could’ve kicked it short and returned for a TD.
Stef’s call was fine. He probably made his decision from either intel from Hopkins and/or Bubba and also knowing his two tackles were out.

I agree. I thought about the block/return possibility that made the HM even more the right choice. I don't mind 2nd guessing, God knows KS has given us plenty of opportunities, but that HM may have been teh safest move. .
Rugby scrum indeed, & good that Ford kept churning his legs to give our big fatties a chance to push the pile. We out-muscled them on that play. Or out-gutted them.
Elves imposed their will on that team at the end of that play. I watched the Ravens fold, and concede field position to CLE, just before DHop's game-winning FG. Every team in the league will see that clip. Cleveland didn't just move the pile on that play... Cleveland moved the entire division on that play.
How many times have we seen CLE on the receiving end of plays that looked just like that? That should tell us something about the team we are watching this season. Character. Heart. Will.
For me, that was the most important play of the game, because I watched BAL crumble/tumble/dumble/grumble beneath the Browns' onslaught. Our men wanted it more than their men, at the exact moment when 'will to win' counted the most. It was THE 'statement moment' in a 'statement game.' -and it happened at the halfway point in the team's schedule.
Because of today's game, The 2023 season is now the Browns' to write for themselves.
Today, The Cleveland Browns established their legitimacy as a serious football franchise. Hard-fought divisional win over the divisional playoff front-runner. Now, it's time to create momentum.
Goliath lost today. In a high-scoring shootout with David.
I confess, I didn't see this one coming. I predicted a low-scoring, toss-up game. The fact that we beat BAL (in their house) in a high-scoring game blows me away- and gives me confidence v. the remaining schedule.
It tells me that we can run a ground game that nets us strong numbers against statistically strong opponents. CLE ran for $1.76 on the divisional front-runner withoutNick Chubb. Browns have a legit coaching staff/scheme.

Side note: today, DeShaun Watson orchestrated a gritty, clutch, 14-point deficit win against a divisional front-running opponent. He got banged up, beat up- and stayed in the game to help us to this team win. Games like this are why he was brought to Cleveland. Time to start capitalizing on the investment.
11:08 is where I got the first 'funny feeling' that today may be special.
What a play by the Chief!
I feel exactly the same way - Njoku may have had better games statistically - but (outside of one bad drop) he was outstanding today and that play was the epitome of some of the character and toughness that seems to have been missing in many or most of our teams since 1999. Tillman's block on Van Noy was another example - commentators seemed to think it was an illgal blindside or cutback block? IDK ... I do know I loved it. Nearly taunting - standing over an opponent you've just nailed for a split second has drawn plenty of flags in games I have watched.
Great stats - gutted this out even though he was clearly hurt - and hard to define how clutch some of those plays he made with his arm and feet were.... and the TD pass to Moore was exceptional QB play, scrambling but always looking for a receiver to get open.
Baltimore is a good team - we had back up tackles - the play in this game gives me more hope for Watson to be the sort of QB that we traded for when we gave up those picks. The slow start still a concern, but hopefully we turned a corner today. Hope we keep on keeping on.
The team gutted it out when teams from the past would have folded.
Watson was great in the 2nd half. The arm is better and he is now sure of the offense. I feel like the real D Watson just stood up.
We all love Chubb, but our run game this year has hardly missed him. The rotation worked well enough and now Ford is stepping forward as the lead back. J Ford is turning in to a very good NFL back. There will be no need to rush Chubb back in to action next year.
Njoku played great. I have never been his biggest fan but the guy is starting to play at a high level.
The D...well..what a difference a D coordinator made. Everybody on the D is playing at levels we could hardly imagine last year. Joe Woods has to be looking at our D today and feel somewhat impotent. A few players were exchanged, but not that many. Look at Clowney with the Ravens. He is playing like the impact player he can be, but here, Woods had him setting edges all game long.
Damn, now that was a win. Loved it. Tough game,, full of potholes that we could have fallen into.. and did. But pulling it out in the end, that was special....
Statement win for the Browns. Down so many key injuries this year w/ Chubb, Conklin, Wills, Jones to beat the Ravens at home when there were so many hurdles this team needed toclear in order to win. This team has heart, never quits, and made key plays went it counted.
- For the most part, the offensive line held up outside of Hudson who I thought had a pretty rough game. The LT, Christian, didn't get his name called much, if at all, and that is usually a good sign for a lineman.
- Jerome Ford ran more in between the tackles, and whaddyaknow, had a really good game. He must have a dawgtalkers account.
- Gutsy performance by Watson to rebound after a bad first half and an injury to carry the team for the second half. He was the better QB yesterday and we needed that perfect 2nd have performance.
- Kudos to Newsome for his first INT to be a TD. The secondary stepped up after injuries to Ward and Delpit. Before going out, I thought Delpit was playing extremely well.
- One thing not mentioned is this coaching staff's ability to get the team to regroup and focus after halftime. Not sure if it's is motivational coach speak or overall in-game adjustments, but they've done a great job in that regard.
- Njoku is a beast and glad to see the team targeting him more these past few weeks. Would still like to see more of this in the RZ, but I'll take what I can get to this point.
- I hope the players don't get too overconfident and listen to the tone of Stefanski's post-game words. Focus. Stay on task. Never quit. Execute.
- Some people are going to be upset when Berry and Stefanski sign extensions.
What a great win! I'm still trying to figure out what happened? Not the end result, but what changed from a putrid 1st half to a terrific 2nd half? I watched it live...then re-watched the 2nd half...then re-watched the whole game...I can't figure it out.
Did the light bulb(s) come on? Did the dinged up DW4 shoulder loosen all the way up? Did it take a quarter or so to get back into it after an early 14-0 deficit? Did we make a bunch of 'adjustments'? Or did we simply start to execute better? I did notice a lot less trickery and fewer east/west running plays (someone ^ mentioned Ford running more between the tackles).
Overcame: 14-0 deficit... PS LT who played quite well after being here for only a week...not-awful play by Hudson (yes, he made mistakes...but he's a developmental guy who plays hard and didn't get his QB killed)...(4) big defensive stops killed by holding/contact penalties ((3) of which were BS and one an interception in the endzone)...a muffed punt return for a fumble...starting CB out injured in-game...starting S then also out injured in-game.
How does a veteran QB go from awful, awful throws in the first half to perfection in the 2nd half? Some of those 1st half throws were incredibly bad...then several throws in the 2nd half were incredibly good and clutch too!. Some clutch, tough runs and also that crazy-bad slide short of the sticks? Watson went from looking 'washed-out' to looking like a top tier QB in the span of 30-40 game minutes.
Solid...SOLID performances by Njoku, Ford, LG/C/RG, Cooper, Moore and the entire defense AND several backups...and Hopkins with the game winner walkoff... What the hell happened yesterday?
Lastly...if you re-watch the game, look closely at the Rats players' faces and body language...Harbaugh too...starting towards the end of Q3. It's like they knew a buzzsaw was coming and they couldn't do anything about it. It was glorious.
It really is the Tale of Two Watsons this season. The way he hit Cooper and looked off the coverage was Brady-esque, but that first half for the most part was god-awful. Second half was legendary. Like, bro, just stop doing this to me. Please just be the second half version, haha.
I think the thing I liked the most was how they bullied the Ravens. Smith taking down their RT, Tillman taking down Van Noy, who must have him by 50-60 lbs, the pile push, Njoku abusing their secondary. That's what you need to do to take down the top dogs like the Steelers and the Ravens in the division. You have to bully them. You have to intimidate them.
I just hope we can continue that style next weekend.
I think we really started to figure out attacking their front 7 in the run game ... and that really got Baltimore on its heels defensively. They weren't going to stop us, so all it was going to take was our defense to stop them (which we did multiple AND it turned into a pick 6)
I also think that our defense did a great job of bottling up Lamar and keeping him insulated
It was the tail of two halves. The first half was a disaster any way you look at it. But somehow they woke up at half time and looked like a totally different team in the second half.
Thanks goes out to Hopkins for keeping the Browns in the game during the first half. Thanks goes out to Newsome for the int. return for a TD which put us in position to win the game. Thanks goes out to Myles who had one helluva game. And thanks goes out to watson for waking up at half time. Had you have played like you did in the first half the Browns would have lost this game in a landslide.
Random thought, but the TD celebration with newsome had me wondering if guys watch boy band music videos and go “yo yo yo that’s the celly right there!!! We copying this move!!”
Today is a feel-good day after that great win yesterday. I feel calm and that doesn't happen very often especially with my Browns. I'm going to enjoy it for the next few days before I start getting stressed over the Steelers. Enjoy everyone!!!
another thing I've said and noticed ... and it held true yesterday:
Watson is a slow starter and a confidence player. Once he feels it, he's tough to stop. And he kinda needs to be hit and knocked around a bit to feel it
Scott Petrak ct @ScottPetrak · 38s #Browns coach Kevin Stefanski says he's not sure if OL Michael Dunn (calf) will come off IR this week but is getting better and better.
Momentum is often spoken of in sports. Yet it's hard to really define.
A baseball manager once said momentum is the next day's starter.
In football momentum is considered part of the game. Yesterday the Ravens got up 14 in the blink of an eye. They were playing with their families in the crowd.
They were leading in the third by 15. What happened?
Cleveland took over the game. In doing so they reshuffled the deck in the North. Before we play the Steelers Sunday. We could be playing for first place.
Do the Browns now have the momentum? Does DW now have that confidence? Does the team now believe the Browns are unstoppable?
Low key KS when DW threw the pic six. Did anyone notice him as he faced Deshaun coming off the field? He was lightly clapping. Telling Deshaun "we got this." It was KS calling the QB draw for two points.
Did the team quit on KS when everything went dark numerous times in the game?
Enjoy the week. Feel good about this team. We have waited a long time to feel good. It is ok now.
I've read a lot of criticism of KS on this board including calls to fire him. There were times I wondered why he called the plays he did, the Seattle game comes to mind, and why we gave up on the run so fast in some games, but the one thing I'll say the players love playing for him and they go to war for him. Case in point yesterday's game. After 14-0 I thought we were doomed but the players rallied and played their butts off for him. That speaks volumes!!!
Garrett now has 11 sacks on the season. He joined Reggie White, John Randle, DeMarcus Ware, Jared Allen, Bruce Smith and Lawrence Taylor as the only players to have six consecutive seasons with at least 10 sacks.
4) big defensive stops killed by holding/contact penalties ((3) of which were BS and one an interception in the endzone)...a muffed punt return for a fumble...starting CB out injured in-game...starting S then also out injured in-game.
Man we got hurt by some BS calls yesterday - ticky tacky calls that 95% of the time quite rightly don't get called. On the interception in the end zone that was called back - [1] I want to again highlight the big hit laid on Lamar by Mike Ford ... kudos for a legal hit on a QB who didn't go out of bounds but wanted to gain another couple yards with a shimmy upfield instead of heading straight out. I don't know if it was a Browns game or a different game this season where commentators mentioned that whichever QB had just done it was going to get hit sometime if they kept doing that and that in effect it wasn't in the spirit of the game because defenders are so reluctant to hit running QB's in that situation ... so Kudos Mike Ford. [2] Of all the penalties we got hit with - while that hurt more than any, on the replay they did show that one of the defenders was yanking on a receivers jersey into the end zone, didn't let go and that penalty to my eyes was legit.
Isn't he the guy who knocked Lamar on his backside out of bounds with a big hit, then shortly after, picked off what appeared to be a rattled Lamar Jackson?
A random thought here. It very well could have been a blessing Hop misses the game tying XP. By missing it we played to get into FG range at the end instead of likely playing for OT had we been tied 31-31. Just a thought maybe we would or maybe not but I'm glad how it turned out. Great win and GO BROWNS!
One other thought - as they keep occurring to me - Jonathan Vilma has absolutely no business ever letting his voice be broadcast during a game again. That was one of the worst color commentaries I have heard ever.
Regarding the comeback, I was thinking this morning that to me the comeback is more impressive because of how slowly it took us to get going, I mean 14 point leads can be erased but normally you need a quick big play or 2. The Browns couldn't even punch it in the endzone in the first half.
It was all field goals up to that point for us, so when OBJ's TD made it a 15 point game, nothing had happened to that point to inspire the team to think they could score at least twice. They just kept fighting.
What a difference a year makes, eh? It's a different ballgame when you have a solid D and a kicker that makes kicks. Not very often you can "slow play" a double-digit deficit against a team like the Ravens.

I agree, this was the single most important aspect of yesterdays game imo. We had every imaginable reason to pack it in yesterday but we didn’t. The best team in football up until yesterday, at home, almost perfectly healthy against our pretty unhealthy O, a long history of owning us especially in their house, down 14 and 15 for over 59 minutes of the game... and yet!
Look, good teams don’t always win obviously. But they rarely collapse or get embarrassed. Never more than very rarely if ever. They’re much more likely to claw back and keep it interesting, even if they don’t have the talent. They don’t rely on hope, luck and getting breaks. They make their luck, they don’t hardly ever just roll over. See: this years Steelers. In years past, this game would have been over halfway thru the 1st quarter for us, all our talent be damned.
I really wasn’t sure we were capable of being a truly good team until yesterday. The kind that comes back when they have every reason not to. I thought we were the kind of team that has a good deal of talent but that truly good teams can come back against and take us out. The kind of team that beats lesser teams but needs lucky breaks, trick plays or for the other team to shoot themselves in the face to get over on the truly good teams.
We still have a lot of problems on O, but I think we answered some of the most important questions yesterday. My season outlook just changed very dramatically in 1 half, which never happens btw.
I usually record all the games and watch 'em one more time before the week is over... This game I got so pissed off I turned the recording off and deleted it, midway through. Big mistake!
I watched the game highlights on youtube. It obviously isn't quite the same as watching the full game, but still enjoyable to watch.

I said the same thing when we got the ball back ... especially after it was 2nd and 19. I said "If this was tied, we'd be content to punt it back"
I had the game on in the background while I was doing some other stuff in the garage. I wandered into the house in the 4th quarter after the interception by Newsome, who was shot out of a cannon to the end zone. Great recognition for a "backup" player according to clueless Vilma.
Njoku had his best game as a Brown and literally carried the team to victory. Same for the rugby play with Ford at the end of the game. If you want to know something, Moore was pushing as well. Cred points. Watson had a few throws that were highlight worthy, and that is now a couple of times that I have to say that was impressive. Until recently he has been pretty mediocre. Watson was also willing to play and was gutting it out. Cooper is a fine player as well.
For all the talk of the defense to shut another team down, you still have to be able to compete in games that are not low scoring affairs. The Browns D was active, the Raisins D was active too. It was a fun watch. Good football is better than bad football as proven by the Jets/Raiders game.
The only stat that really matters is the W.
I will take an ugly 59:20 being behind every time victory over a last minute loss every time. It was unexpected.
See LA (Not San Diego) Chargers. Herbert and Allen are great, but they can't win a close game.
New signature line after visiting the Gameday thread.... sheesh.
New signature line after visiting the Gameday thread.... sheesh.
You should see all his posts about Garrett. One of the most dominant defensive players of our generation, a HOF talent, and this guy thinks he's nothing but a 1 move loudmouth.
Some miscellaneous random thoughts, since most have covered various highlights:
- Something I'm interested in, however we probably won't know the real reason. (this is a good thing) What got into our players attitudes this game? Was it a coach or player speech? Did a Ravens player tell a Browns player a Yo Momma burn? We see some celebration and etc in games. However, the team played like bullies yesterday. Tillman had a pancake block where he stood over and taunted Van Noy. Teller had a pancake block on #99 and Hudson stood over top of him flexing. Ford had the hard hit on LJ by the sideline. I really don't remember seeing our players with so many taunts/flexing over a block...and I don't have a problem with that. Though, while it was happening I was laughing but also yelling - the play is still going on!
- I don't remember seeing this many games in a row where a D-lineman from either side bats a ball for an int (or in last weeks case an offensive TD)
- Watson had some big time throws, one I want to highlight is 2nd and 19 2:22 left in the game down 31-30. DW with a 17 yard completion to Cooper to make it a manageable 3rd and 2. Big time throw, big time moment.
- The Ravens drive after the fumbled punt by Proche was annoying as hell by the Refs with the penalties. We stopped them! No. TD Ravens! No. Interception Browns! No. The frustration of all the up and down emotions, I was to the point where I said out loud, just give them the damn TD so we can move on with the game already.
The best part about the "tush push" or the "scrum" was tiny Elijah Moore in there pushing and Hudson's reaction after.
Really awesome to see the toughness and resiliency of the team. It's fun to root for a team like that.
We have legit tough, not soft guys on this team both mentally and physically in Hunt, Njoku, Cooper, Delpit. I think they are great culture setters and instill toughness in the rest of the team.
I have not understood the Ford criticisms to date as he has been really really solid. Now all of a sudden people want to sing his praises. Guy has been really good all season. Not perfect, not Chubb, but a real NFL running back. I think people lose sight of that.
100% blessing in disguise the extra point was missed. Browns would have played for OT.
My cousins were complaining about Myles before those back to back sacks. His PFF grade.was meh. But I thought he looked more explosive than ever coming off the ball. The issue is he sometimes guesses pass when it's run and you can run straight at his gap. Those back to back sacks were huge. He's making so many game impacting plays this year. He's being talked about today as MVP. Not DPOY but MVP. Well deserved and it's awesome to see the best players make the best plays when it matters most.
Division is there for the taking. I don't think Schwartz or Stefanski will let the team get ahead of themselves.
A lot of sports radio today was about how the Ravens gave the game away. For the first time since 1999 Browns have a legit good team. The 2020 covid team caught lightning in a bottle. This is different.
I love how I didn't see any kids in the locker room and how Stefanski DID NOT give them today off.
I noticed Moore pushing the pile as well. I know he has taken a lot a grief, but I want to re think that now.
Hudson gets a lot of grief as well, but he and Teller were in the middle of it. Botino got a few more yards once he joined.
I did not see players as much as a team that was willing itself to win. Playing hard, all out.
Same with the reaction to the missed XP by Hopkins. Numerous players approached him and I guess their words were you saved us before, now we will give you a chance for redemption… or something like that.
Hopkins got his chance and the Raisins lost.
I did not like the Ford stat bashing of last week, and thought he played well.
There is a difference between giving a game away and getting beat. The Raisins got beat by a better performance by the Browns.
Remember the Jets game last year? That was a give away.
that was one of my favorite plays.. its why you need big WR in the run game too.. I can't stand Van Noy and it made it even sweeter, and then he looked even worse trying to start something because he got laid out and picked up an unsportsmanlike.
I loved seeing that Raven get his clock cleaned. Really glad Tillmann didn't stand over him and "taunt" him after for a penalty. Also loved it when he headbutted Tillmann for a 15 yard penalty.
The only thing I can say is: don't suffer before it is necessary because it is wasted suffering.
I will wait for the game to be played.
I am not into predicting games. Seems pointless to me. Games by nature are designed to go either way. That is what games are and why they are played. That is why we pay to watch them because you don't know the outcome.
I never buy that you are supposed to win. Why? Is some supreme being who controls outcomes supposed to favor you?
You win because on that day you were better than the opposition.
all divison affair next week.
I'm almost scared for the Bengals. Ravens are going to eat them alive after their loss.
That was all on our guards, too. Watch the pile after Teller hits it, and then watch it again after Bitonio hits it.
Here are the numbers of the Browns players who were involved in the play that I call "The BIG PUSH"...#s- 34, 85, 19, 8, 64, 66, 77, 55, 75, 2 & 4.
I had to rerun the video a few times to identify all the Browns players who were involved in that play and I was able to identify all 11 players on the offensive unit. Any more numbers and the Browns could have been flagged for too many players on the field.
IMO, that play was symbolic of the type of effort the Browns needed to win the game...it took the entire team..!
JMHO, Hope he was coached HARD for his STUPIDITY. We could have EASILY gotten a taunting call- small things matter and as a 3rd round BUST so far, he sure as heck shouldn't gloat because he FINALLY contributed......GO Browns!!!

I heard we can get a sixth rounder for that kind of play
The Browns have been on the receiving end of a few blocks similar to the hit that Tillman made on the Ravens #50 without a penalty being called.
Many of the replays show a slow-motion version that makes the play look like Tillman was taunting, but if you watch the replay done at regular speed, Tillman stands over #50 for a second and begins to look for someone else to block. Had Tillman continued to stand over Mr Raven and not began looking for someone else to block I could understand a flag for taunting.
Also, Tillman made a good block, getting his head in front of the Raven with his helmet on the front side of #50s shoulder pad. I thought the official made a good "no call" given the situation...jmo

Is that Clowney running in after the play is over,? Where was he? That play took forever so maybe he went into the locker room to take a leak when Ford was first hit, came back out and saw it still going forward.

If it wasn't, it was very close to a blindside block, and should have received a flag for taunting.
Can't recall if this was mentioned, but kudos to Ogbo Okoronkwo for the getting his hands up on that tip to allow the Greg Newsome Pick 6.
The dude has been worth EVERY penny so far.
Okoronkwo has been outstanding. I actually think Lamar bounced that pass of his helmet, making this the third game in a row in which the Browns have had game-changing plays doink off helmets.
looking at our additions: Z, Ogbo, Hopkins, Tomlinson ... coupled with some nice drafting of Jones, Newsome, Emerson .. he's done a good job especially considering our QB/Chubb out
Back to back "Rematch" wins. One against the division leading Ravens on their field.
And a rematch with the team we were tied with for second place. Nick came out of the tunnel leading the team on crutches.
That's right the Browns just beat the Ravens and the Steelers back to back in a rematch.
On August 28, the Chargers traded Dustin Hopkins to the Cleveland Browns for a 2025 seventh-round pick after he lost his starting job to Cameron Dicker.
