They know that already. They just don't care as long as they end up getting whatever they want. Jan. 6th should have proven to everyone that their new mantra is "By many means necessary."

It’s weird how this Laura Loomer lady is around trump a lot more than his own VP pick.

Somebody has to feed him false information to spread and Bannon was in jail. We both know Vance isn't smart enough to do it on his own. Just like trump he has to find his BS from other people.

Yes that were invited in.. Yes they are legal.. Yes they are well thought of in Springfield Ohio and other cities around the states. They were hired and were needed to fill jobs and it's said by every official that they do those jobs well.

How many times have we heard people that oppose immigrants say, if they come in legally, no problem... WELL! That's only going to work up to a point. If Trump lies about them. Making them seem like MONSTERS that they are not...then he gets people like you and others saying uninformed stuff like your comment above.

As for the part about 20,000 more, I sure hope so.. If they are needed, bring them in. That's what effective leaders do.. When the community needs something, then the good leadership responds.. Something you don't understand because you are attached to Trump... (or at least a part of your anatomy is attached to a part of his)

And now, because Trump and Vance lied about it, they are afraid. We invited them here to work, and they are working. But now because of the lies these idiots tell, they are in danger. SMART...

Trump and Vance can't see beyond the end of their noses. No Future vision. They just complain and gripe. NO SOLUTIONS that help... NONE! And you are good with that. They LIE and GRIPE and COMPLAIN.

I want to highlight this part. I feel like there was a subtle but VERY significant shift in the rhetoric and I didn't pick up on it until this Springfield issue really got legs. When I realized this, it kinda hit a little harder, because I am someone that always wants to point it out when people call illegal aliens immigrants.

trump said he is going to Springfield in two weeks. trump often says he will do something in two weeks. It is code for nothing will happen in two weeks except he will be talking about something else he will do in two weeks.

For anyone confused, the mayor of Springfield who is saying this is a lie is a Republican. So the blind think that both the republican mayor of Springfield and the Republican governor of Ohio are lying and that a known habitual liar is telling them the truth.

Vance Got His Pro-Immigrant Blog Posts Deleted by Old Professor

The veep hopeful’s aides have played down the article, saying the Ohio senator’s views have changed over the years “like millions of Americans.”

A former undergraduate professor of JD Vance revealed Tuesday that the veep hopeful once asked him to delete a 2012 blog post where he criticized Republicans’ mass-deportation plans and more.

Brad Nelson, who taught Vance at the Ohio State University, told CNN that Vance contacted him in 2016 to ask that he remove the article so he could launch a career in Republican politics.

Nelson obliged with Vance’s request and the post was taken offline, but an archived version of it can still be found in internet archives.

“I was a bit surprised at the blowback he apparently received from the GOP, as I thought his post was fairly innocuous,” Nelson said. “Anyway, I liked JD and wanted to help him out, and so I went ahead and deleted his post.”

The argument Vance made in the article, titled “A Blueprint for the GOP,” asserted that Republicans ran on unrealistic immigration policies in the 2012 election and that the party had alienated voters of color.

“A significant part of Republican immigration policy centers on the possibility of deporting 12 million people (or ‘self-deporting’ them),” Vance wrote. “Think about it: we conservatives (rightly) mistrust the government to efficiently administer business loans and regulate our food supply, yet we allegedly believe that it can deport millions of unregistered aliens. The notion fails to pass the laugh test. The same can be said for too much of the party’s platform.”

Vance reportedly added that the GOP was relying too heavily on the turnout of white voters while scaring swing-vote minorities away from the party by running candidates like Sarah Palin.

“You can’t actively alienate every growing bloc of the American electorate—Blacks, Latinos, the youth—and you can’t depend solely on the single shrinking bloc of the electorate—Whites,” Vance wrote.

Now, 12 years later, Vance has hinged much of his time as Donald Trump’s running mate on advocating for the same lofty immigration policy—to deport migrants by the millions—he once shot down as implausible. Vance has also been at the forefront of pushing a hoax that Haitian migrants are eating people’s pets in Springfield, Ohio, which many experts believe will hurt the ticket’s appeal to naturalized Americans of color.

The article adds to a long list of unpleasant nuggets from Vance’s past that have emerged since he entered the national limelight this summer, which includes a pair of photos of the staunch conservative dressed in drag.

Vance has not addressed the old blog post himself, but his team has played it down as a non-story in a statement to CNN.

“There is nothing noteworthy about the fact that, like millions of Americans, Senator Vance’s views on certain issues have changed from when he was in his twenties,” spokesperson Will Martin told CNN.

Vance is no stranger to flipping his views. He was a bitter critic of Trump as recently as 2016, when he publicly referred to the then-presidential hopeful as an “idiot” and “reprehensible.” Behind closed doors, reports said Vance compared Trump to Adolf Hitler.

Vance’s support of the former president, however, has been steadfast since he won a U.S. Senate seat in 2022. He offered a partial explanation behind his infamous flip-flop on Trump on Sunday.

“The reason that I changed my mind on Donald Trump is actually perfectly highlighted by what’s going on in Springfield,” Vance said. “Because the media and the Kamala Harris campaign, they’ve been calling the residents of Springfield racist, they’ve been lying about them. They’ve been saying that they make up these reports of migrants eating geese, and they completely ignore the public health disaster that is unfolding in Springfield at this very minute. You know who hasn’t ignored it? Donald Trump.”

As with many he was spot on until he knew he had to abandon his true beliefs in order to make it as a Republican.

Springfield’s mayor claims emergency powers to ‘mitigate public safety concerns’ as threats continue to swarm city

The mayor of Springfield, Ohio, issued a proclamation Thursday claiming temporary emergency powers “to mitigate public safety concerns” as false claims about Haitian immigrants continue to stoke bomb threats and the specter of violence in the community.

The proclamation grants Mayor Rob Rue temporary emergency powers to obtain and mobilize resources and address potential threats.

“This will enable departments to respond more efficiently to emerging risks, including civil unrest, cyber threats, and potential acts of violence,” the proclamation said.

Former President Donald Trump’s false claims that Haitian immigrants are stealing and eating local pets have cast a pall over this small Midwestern city. Local officials say they have received more than 30 threats of violence in the days since the second presidential debate.

Springfield police have not responded to CNN’s request for more information regarding the threats.

A spokesperson for Walmart confirmed to CNN that two of its Springfield locations were “briefly evacuated” Wednesday “at the direction of local police.” Additionally, the Pregnancy Resource Center of Clark County, a local Kroger supermarket and a Planned Parenthood center also received threats Wednesday, CNN affiliate WHIO reported.

In response to the threats, several colleges in the area have transitioned to remote learning this week, after students returned to school Tuesday with additional security from state troopers, including tower cameras and bomb detection dogs.

Andy Wilson, Ohio’s director of the Department of Public Safety, said in a news conference Thursday: “Every day we are getting multiple bomb threats.” He also confirmed authorities had investigated a bomb threat on the campus of Clark State College earlier Thrusday, but stressed it was a “hoax

“In the environment that we have, people are going to do stupid things,” Wilson said. “If you think you can get a rise out of somebody by doing something like that – calling a bomb threat in – if you get caught you are going to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”

Carl Ruby, pastor of Central Christian Church in Springfield, told CNN’s Jim Acosta since the debate “it’s just been complete chaos.” Ruby said he spoke with local officials Thursday who told him more threats “are unfolding right now.”

“I want to let President Trump know that I prayed for his safety this morning – he does not have my vote but he has my prayers – and I just wish that he would, out of the goodness of his heart, just acknowledge that he was misinformed and ask the groups that are here for hateful reasons to leave our city,” he said.

Ruby said while he agrees with President Biden’s stance on immigration and refugees because it aligns with his Christian faith, there’s more the Biden administration can do to help cities like Springfield that have seen an influx of immigrants in recent years.

“I believe that one of the clearest ethical issues in the Bible is that we are to care for immigrants, orphans, and widows and so I’m all for that. But their policy did not provide money and we need … I talked to city leaders this morning and we need $5-10 million like right now,” Ruby said.

Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, show no signs of backing down from their false claims about Springfield. At a campaign rally Wednesday night, Trump promised to visit the city “in the next two weeks” and criticized Rue for not expelling migrants.

Rue told reporters at Thursday’s news conference it would be difficult for either candidate to visit his city.

“Should (Trump) choose to change his plans, it would convey a significant message of peace to the city of Springfield,” Rue said. “We’ve asked many times that those with the national spotlight with a national microphone would speak truth. And we need help and not hate.”

On its website, the city of Springfield estimates approximately 12,000 –15,000 immigrants live in the city and the surrounding Clark County. The city also pushed back on claims that Haitian immigrants are “illegal.”

“Haitian immigrants are here legally, under the Immigration Parole Program,” the city states, referencing a program the Biden administration launched in 2023 to create more lawful pathways into the United States.

To qualify, participants are vetted and must have a sponsor in the country. More than 210,000 Haitians have been paroled into the US through the program, according to data released this week by US Customs and Border Protection.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine condemns false claims on Haitian migrants in Springfield in New York Times op-ed calling for unity and safety
The governor also mentioned both Donald Trump and JD Vance, writing that he was 'saddened by how they and others continue to repeat claims that lack evidence.'

The New York Times on Friday published an op-ed written by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, when he expresses his disappointment in how the city of Springfield has been caught in the crossfire of America's ongoing immigration debate.

"The Springfield I know is not the one you hear about in social media rumors. It is a city made up of good, decent, welcoming people," the Republican governor wrote. "They are hard workers — both those who were born in this country and those who settled here because, back in their birthplace, Haiti, innocent people can be killed just for cheering on the wrong team in a soccer match."

The letter follows false claims made by former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Ohio U.S. Sen. JD Vance, about Haitian migrants in Springfield. Trump mentioned the debunked rumors during a presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, falsely asserting that migrants were "eating the dogs ... eating the cats" owned by residents in the city.

The comments from both the former president as well as others have sparked outrage and confusion, and in the days since, Springfield has been inundated with safety threats.

DeWine was born in Springfield in 1947, frequenting the city during his youth while growing up in nearby Yellow Springs.

"The message I want to get out is that Springfield's a great place. This is a great community with great people," DeWine said in a Friday interview with 3News sister station 10TV in Columbus. "I think the rhetoric is hurtful. I think it's hurtful to everybody in Springfield. The reality is that the Haitians who are there came to work."

In the op-ed, the Republican governor condemned both Trump and Vance's actions by name, stating, "As a supporter of former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance, I am saddened by how they and others continue to repeat claims that lack evidence and disparage the legal migrants living in Springfield."

Bomb threats have forced schools and public buildings to close countless times and also led to the cancellation of some community events. At a press conference on Thursday, DeWine promised a safe environment for all.

"We are doing everything that we can to create an environment where they (migrants) can live, where all the citizens of Clark County can live and thrive, have their kids go to school and be safe, and have them safe," he said.

According to The Times, Trump has announced plans to visit Springfield within the next two weeks, a move the city's mayor says will put a strain on resources. Despite his criticisms, DeWine still plans to vote for Trump in November.

"Springfield today has a very bright future. The people who live there love their families, value education, work hard, care about one another and tackle the challenges they face head-on, just as they have done for over 200 years," DeWine wrote in his essay. "I am proud of this community, and America should be, too."

Trump & Vance defy pleas to stop repeating false pet rumors

The Trump campaign continued to push false claims about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, even after a top city leader told a campaign staffer for its vice presidential nominee ahead of this month’s presidential debate the rumors were “baseless,” the city’s mayor said, confirming a Wall Street Journal report.

A staffer of vice presidential candidate JD Vance called Springfield City Manager Bryan Heck on September 9 and asked if there was any truth in rumors that Haitian immigrants were taking and eating pets in Springfield, Heck told the Journal.

“He asked point-blank, ‘Are the rumors true of pets being taken and eaten?’” Heck told the outlet. “I told him no. There was no verifiable evidence or reports to show this was true. I told them these claims were baseless.”

“Yes, that call was made,” Springfield Mayor Rob Rue told CNN’s “Laura Coates Live” Thursday. “The answer was given, and what has happened since then has happened.”

CNN has made repeated attempts to reach Heck for comment.

During the debate the day after the city official discredited the rumor, former President Donald Trump parroted the false claim that Haitian immigrants in Springfield are stealing and eating local pets, casting the Midwestern community into an unwelcome national spotlight that has stoked threats of violence against its residents.

Since the September 10 debate, Springfield has received more than 35 threats of violence, including bomb threats, according to the mayor, which has prompted evacuations of elementary schools and supermarkets, lockdowns of hospitals, and a transition to remote learning at several local colleges.

“The Springfield I know is not the one you hear about in social media rumors,” Ohio Republican Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, who was born in the city, wrote in an op-ed for The New York Times Friday.

“It is disappointing to me that Springfield has become the epicenter of vitriol over America’s immigration policy, because it has long been a community of great diversity,” DeWine wrote.

“As a supporter of former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance, I am saddened by how they and others continue to repeat claims that lack evidence and disparage the legal migrants living in Springfield. This rhetoric hurts the city and its people, and it hurts those who have spent their lives there,” the op-ed said.

Two colleges in Springfield, Clark State College and Wittenberg University, announced Friday they will resume in-person learning Monday after classes went remote as law enforcement investigated both campuses for threats of bombings and campus shootings.

Both institutions said enhanced security measures will be in place. At Wittenberg University, that includes limited entry to all buildings, increased security measures and additional video surveillance cameras. At Clark State College, there will be a bolstered police presence and ongoing threat assessments, among other measures, the release said.

“To date, none of the scores of threats made toward multiple entities in Springfield have proved credible,” said Clark State College.

The ‘Sassy’ cat that started it all is alive and well

Miss Sassy, the cat whose sudden disappearance in August jumpstarted the rumor mill about Haitian migrants in Springfield, was found lounging Friday morning – alive and well – in a camping chair.

The cat’s owner, Anna Kilgore, was not available for an interview, but CNN received permission to photograph Miss Sassy.

An emotional Kilgore told The Wall Street Journal earlier this week she has apologized to her Haitian neighbors for filing a police report that insinuated they had a role in her pet’s brief disappearance.

Kilgore said the cat was discovered in her basement just a few days after she went missing.

Although the false claims about Haitian immigrants abusing animals have been widely discredited, Trump and Vance have doubled down since the debate.

Asked Sunday by CNN’s Dana Bash to back up his claims, Vance, a US senator from Ohio, said he has received concerns from constituents, though he did not provide evidence.

“My constituents have brought approximately a dozen separate concerns to me. Ten of them are verifiable and confirmable, and a couple of them I talk about because my constituents are telling me firsthand that they’re seeing these things. So I have two options, Dana: I can ignore them, which is what the American media has done for years to this community, or I can actually talk about what people are telling me,” Vance said.

A spokesperson for Vance, in response to CNN’s request for comment on the Journal report, accused the media of “purposely twisting Senator Vance’s words.”

The false claims and ensuing threats have sent Springfield into a state of chaos, with Rue on Thursday issuing a proclamation granting himself temporary emergency powers to obtain and mobilize resources and address potential threats.

“This will enable departments to respond more efficiently to emerging risks, including civil unrest, cyber threats, and potential acts of violence,” the proclamation said.

It comes as members of Springfield’s Haitian community, many among the estimated 12,000 to 15,000 immigrants living in the city, have expressed fear for their safety.

Haitian immigrant Vilbrun Dorsainvil told CNN that since last week, people who used to walk along the sidewalks in his predominantly Haitian neighborhood are now scared to leave their homes.

As the city has struggled to respond to the slew of threats, Trump said at a campaign rally Wednesday night he would visit Springfield “in the next two weeks.”

But Rue has repeatedly said a visit from either presidential candidate would stretch the city’s resources.

“Should (Trump) choose to change his plans, it would convey a significant message of peace to the city of Springfield,” Rue said during a news conference Thursday. “We’ve asked many times that those with the national spotlight with a national microphone would speak truth. And we need help and not hate.”

The mayor told CNN on Friday he also has concerns about the message candidates would send from Springfield.

“My concern is, what we’ve seen on the national stage, I really wouldn’t want that repeated … in our community,” Rue said of a possible visit by Trump.

Ohio Rep. Warren Davidson told CNN he believes many in Springfield would welcome a visit from the Republican presidential candidate or his running mate.

“People want to know that they’re being heard,” Davidson said. “I think the part that’s being dismissed is there really are serious concerns.”

Rue also lamented how the false claims and frenzied public debate have distracted from deeper conversations about immigration reform. He said even if Trump or Vance were to recant their false statements about Haitian immigrants in the city, he’s not sure if it would make a difference.

“I don’t know what that would do. Like I said, the real issue is what’s being said around the rhetoric – is the immigration reform, is the porous border,” Rue said. “There needs to be reform … That’s what we need to be talking about. Not defending our community from false claims.”

CNN’s Jeff Winter, Meridith Edwards and Omar Jimenez contributed to this report.

The problem is they don't care. They don't care about how their lies are harming this community. They don't care that they know it's a lie even before they say it. They don't care that both the Republican mayor of Springfield and the Republican governor of Ohio have called them out for their lies. It's red meat that causes chaos and confusion and that's what they thrive on. And even the smart ones who support them that know it's a lie and the harm it is doing don't care either.

There most certainly are. For them he is nothing but a vehicle to reach their destination. You want your religious beliefs turned into law and forced upon the entire nation? Trump is your vehicle. You are rich beyond what any person needs but still want more tax cuts? Trump is your vehicle. You want to ban abortions for all women? Trump is your vehicle. You want environmental regulations cut to the bone so you will have better profit margins? You want EV tax breaks to go away so your fossil fuel business continue to grow? Trump is your vehicle. There are many more examples.

And they're going to put the peddle to the metal on that vehicle for as long as they can to get exactly what they want. That doesn't make those people stupid.

I'm just following suit of the example you have been setting. You have refused to say anything of substance and have done nothing but play some weak ass troll game with me for days now. Often times in life you reap what you sow. This is one of those times for you.

The only thing you seem to be able to post in your own words in this forum.

Yes, how many times you have posted the word childish over the past few days instead of addressing anything is reviewable. It's odd when someone acts just like you do you consider it childish.

You've been in a more childish mode recently than usual.

I will stop calling you childish when you stop acting like a petulant little child.

You think you're now a one word wonder. You sound like Eve using the word libtard all the time.

Sadly you are devoid of having the ability to use a mirror.

"I know you are but what am I" is your goto childish response. And using another poster like it is an insult? You really work to sink further.

I don't need some high level cat and mouse game to go up against a simpleton.

I don't wonder at all. You do it because you have nothing legitimate to say. So instead you just launch nonsense.
