The Guards are becoming a Tampa Bay type team where they just continue to be relevant and churn out guys

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Shocking that the Tigers are now 2nd in the AL Central, having jumped both the Twins and Royals.

Hope that I’m in the right forum here… Sad to see the Oakland A’s moving on. Talk about an absentee owner.

Given that the Indians ownership haven’t been perfect, but have been much better than A’s ownership, I have to wonder about their future in Cleveland. Given that the Indians are 20th in attendance, despite being in first place, I can see the new majority owner holding a new stadium over the head of Cleveland, and threatening to move to either Charlotte, OKC, or San Antonio. I get that they signed a lease, but so did the Browns and so did the St. Louis Rams. - They’re going to have to figure out a way to get Cleveland fans reinvested in their hometown baseball team.. if being in first place doesn’t draw people, I can’t see what will..

What are you talking about? The Guardians have sold out more games this year than they have a decades. They're going to draw over 2M fans in attendance for the first time in a long time. They reached 1M fans in attendance 41 games which was the fastest time to reach that mark since 2007.

What a bizarre post. Clearly, you have not been paying attention and have zero pulse of the fanbase. It's actually remarkable the Guardians are 20th in attendance given they have the smallest stadium by capacity in the MLB.

Oh ok. So they’re not 20th in attendance? I was just astonished by how a team like the the Colorado Rockies has a higher average home attendance than the Indians. I mean, that must be a little disappointing to a new ownership group.

Here’s where I’m getting the info:

Yes, they’re currently 20th in attendance. Coors Field seats ~12k more people than Progressive Field.

Context of attendance in relation to stadium capacity isn’t hard to understand (or at least it shouldn’t be).

Just citing the attendance numbers is pretty lazy argument when you do not take into account stadium capacity.

There is more reasonable chance Haslam packs up and leaves town when the lease expires if he doesn’t get the stadium deal he wants. Guardians aren’t going anywhere for a long time.

You’re right, this isn’t difficult to understand.

1st place teams Stadium average attendance/capacity 2024

Yankees 41822/ 46537 = 89%

Indians 25824/ 34830 = 74%

Astros 35037/41000 = 85%

Phillies 41515/ 42901 = 96%

Brewers 31151/ 41900 = 74%

Dodgers 48563/56000 = 86%

So, of the first place teams, the Tribe is tied for the lowest attendance/capacity. - Not good. Additionally, they are the lowest in attendance overall (of first place teams)at 25824, with the next closest team being Milwaukee, at 31151. - Not good.

Now take into account that the Indians are, again, 20th in attendance overall and this means that there are other clubs, not in 1st,2nd,3rd place in their divisions who are attracting more people overall to the ballpark.

Which means what? To me, it means that the new ownership will be able to get a shiny new stadium built in a warm weather city and expect to draw higher attendance/capacity ratio and make more money than he would in Cleveland - regardless of whether his team is in 1st or 3rd place.

As for the Browns moving, I can certainly see that also if the city keeps messing with Jimmy.

Thoughts?

It's shocking that the Indians are getting so many fans to the games considering they don't exist.

You over here talking about attendance, not a division title, not a division title, but attendance. Not a first round bye, but attendance…

After tonight, the Guardians may only be a .5 game out from the #1 seed.

Congrats to Clase. Bullpen pitched a heck of a game.

Welcome back, Kwan. Led off the game with a dinger. Big game from Jose.

It's shocking how well they're doing. We went to a game in June, and the whole atmosphere was like the Browns are in now. Everybody seemed to think they were in purgatory due to the Baez contract situation. Their bats came alive and suddenly they were in the hunt for a WC spot.

I appreciate the heads up.

Jose went off tonight (like you said). Dude almost had a second one in his first or second ab.

A bullpen game, the Guardians had a no-hitter going into the 7th broken up by a bunt single.

Clase gives up a hit, walks two, then proceeds to get a in-field liner for an out, a K, and a ground out to end the ball game. The team is so much fun to watch.

The Guardians have a chance to be the number one seed in the American League.

Truly incredible season. Clase is a monster who should get Cy votes.

When the playoffs begin. It is life on the edge. It is not about the best record.

It is about the next pitch.

Any team can win. The Guardians chances to get hot are as good as any team.

They play a brand of intense baseball. They believe in each other. That is good mojo.

I will be locked in.

Guardians might end up being my pick to win it all ... they have a great sense of team chemistry, great closer, timely hitting

I love baseball and am a huge fan.

Baseball is controlled by stats. Decisions are made based upon odds.

Teams have tons of data.

Yet post season almost spits on stats. Teams and players get hot. A 220 banjo hitter can be a hero.

The Guardians have that chemistry that World Series Champions are made of. They are the kind of team who catch fire.

Exhibit A: Oscar Gonzalez
He was great for that postseason...and sadly not much else.

I'm betting that if you were to take average attendance per game as a ratio of the greater metropolitan population of each team, we'd probably be tied for 1st.

This is from 2013, so it is definitely out of date, but per capita attendance is the REAL measure of support: https://www.businessinsider.com/chart-mlb-per-capita-attendance-2013-8

Yankees up 10-0 in the 8th
Safe to say they are going to win.

At the end of the day Guardians will be a game back for best record in the American league.

We have a 3 game series at home against Houston
Yankees have 3 game series at home against Pittsburgh

We have already conceded the best record to the Yankees by looking at our pitching plans. New York is actually two games ahead because of the tie breaker

The Guardians have been a good team all year.

Second best record in the AL is a fine place to end the regular season.

Once post season begins the 162 games that were played don't mean a thing.

The World Series winner will be the team who has players who get hot. Every year a few guys just get hot and can carry a club.

I like the Guardians chances.

My Braves are going for it. We have the best odds to get a WC because we hold the tie breakers against the Mets and Dbacks. Two WC spots 3 teams fighting.

KC got in last night with the Twins loss. The have two remaining games against the Braves. I hope they celebrated last night and are sleep walking.

The Braves are a dark horse because they have the best rotation in baseball. Sale is a shoe in for the CY. Max Fried threw a gem last night 8 and two thirds shutout.

The National League teams know the Braves are dangerous if they get in.

I get totally juiced for baseball at this time of year. Love it.

JRAM hit his 39th HR and 39th double today.

With one game left, if he gets one more of each, he will be the 3rd person in MLB history to hit 40 Hr, 40 doubes, and steal 40 bases

The Braves last night bottom of the ninth walk off home run to win 2-1.

I could not fall asleep. Stayed up for the Dbacks final score. Both Mets and Dbacks lost.

Braves are in with a win or Dbacks loss today. Super jacked about Braves and Guardians.

Comes down to the last day.

Play two. Win one and you are in.

The Braves have gone through more injuries in one season than I have ever seen in baseball.

Yet they still control their own destiny.

I wonder if the Mets/Braves have a little gentlemen agreement - split no matter what

I am in shock. Really.

5 outs to get with a 3 run lead. Give up six runs.

Bottom of the eight Braves score 4. Take a 7-6 lead into the ninth.

Seeing eye single. Lindor hits a 2 run HR.

We lose 8-7 with tying run on second.

One out in the 8th they had no runs and 3 hits.

Have to win the second game or we are finished.

Braves have Sale going in the second game but we used up the pen. Both the closer Iglesias and set up guy.

Game 162 for a shot at post season.

Now Sale is scratched because of back spasms. I am not believing this

Braves are in. Seventh straight season. Now on a flight to SD.

Play tomorrow. Intense after elimination game double header. Travel to the WC and play again.

All the star players gone it is an amazing accomplishment. Acuna MVP. Strider Cy leader. Riley All Star. Albies All Star just back from broken wrist can only hit right handed.

Laureano is playing LF and Urshela third base.

What they have is pitching.

Now it seems Sale will not pitch in this series against SD.

The winner of ERA, Wins, and K's.

I have no idea how the Braves will continue. They don't have anyone to pitch today. The only thing they can do is empty the bullpen.

In addition Iglesias and Jiminez pitched in both games yesterday. So their closer and 8th inning guy will not be available.

I have never seen anything close to the injuries that the Braves have had this year. Miracle that they made the playoffs.

I don't think we have the offense where I think we have what it takes to beat either without some luck but we were 7-6 against detroit so I'd rather take my chances on them, Houston sweeps us. Good news is Detroit matches up really well against Houston so maybe Detroit does us a favor. I get concerned about big gaps off before a playoff series. I hope it works out for us and the 7 days off will get some guys rested and healthy. Just hope Vogt keeping them ready. All in all, Vogt has done a pretty fine job this year as a rookie skipper. I wasn't sure going in what to expect and coming in to fill Tito's shoes couldn't have been easy. He's been great. Few things here and there that are expected but to win the AL central your first year is great. Just hope we get through the ALDS with a good showing and hopefully a win.

Detroit has more LHP, but Skubal is pretty good but Houston has Valdez.. who no hit us last year in less than 100 pitches
