An NFL GM has the responsibility of having the ability to hire the right supporting staff to make drafts successful. It's certainly not a job they accomplish on their own. It's the scouting department, the analytics department and those that break down how these draft picks talents and skill set will transfer to the pro game. So I don't think it's as simple as "They need more football guys". That certainly may be a part of it but the overall picture is much larger than that. Sadly sportswriters, and not just Grossi, aren't willing to take the time and put forth the effort to break it all down in depth. I'm not sure I blame them. The public at large has trouble taking the time or the effort to look at anything in depth. They want some quick, one size fits all answer because it's so easy for them to digest.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Duhhhhh Grossi
You cannot draft better when you give up all your draft choices in exchange for a QB that has more red flags than a Soviet military parade.
Just ask the Houston Texans/Browns how they have done of late....
Draft Better.... ha ha... you don't have the draft choices to draft better....
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!

Anybody expecting the Browns to be a playoff team sooner than Later better rethink such. This franchise continually makes front office Decisions that is laughable and dumb .Haslam is the most inept owner In the NFL

I don't know the woman's name but I heard her interviewed.
She works for Berry in scouting and evaluation of the draft. She was asked about this year. She stated that winning is what the driver is at all times. However, this is the NFL and a bad season can happen. There must be a belief in the processes of how evaluation takes place.
The draft is the life blood of a team. However, expectations are sometimes unrealistic. It is impossible to hit on every player.
You can have 3 six round picks and need to be lucky to find a future starter.
Jones, Tillman, and McGuire are third and fourth round picks who have played well.
That is a good thing but you cannot afford to miss on guys like Wills who was a first rounder.
When it comes to quarterbacks who are selected in the first round. If you miss that is a three year mistake that kills you.
If we are ever to succeed and achieve the goal. We have to get the quarterback position right.
Once again we are at that crossroads.

I did a search for "Cleveland Browns Mission Statement". AI got me to this:
The Cleveland Browns' mission statement is "Browns Be The Solution". The team's mission is to promote equity in the Northeast Ohio community through social justice efforts, and to have a positive impact in the following areas: Economic advancement, Police and community relations, and Criminal justice reform for the Black community.
"Browns be the solution" on the team website says this:
About Be The Solution
The entire Browns organization – coaches, players and front office members – are dedicated to having a meaningful impact in the social justice arena. After internal discussions and conversations with social justice and equity community leadership groups, the team identified the goal of championing equity in the Northeast Ohio community through intentional and measurable social justice efforts.
Launched in 2020 by GM Andrew Berry, Be the Solution aims to use the Cleveland Browns organization as an instrument for change regarding economic advancement, police and community relations and criminal justice reform for the Black community. The Cleveland Browns provide financial support to various organizations working to make change in the social justice space, including two Cleveland-based grassroots organizations, JumpStart Inc. and EDWINS Leadership and Restaurant Institute.
Maybe the FO is really good at that ^...because they suck at building a winning organization.

Between the GM, coaches and your scouting staff, you should be able to come up with a good plan and draft players that will succeed on your team. If you're still not sure everyone on the sports talk shows has an opinion especially on ESPN. Listen to their opinions. Mel Kiper and Adam Schefter are always on. It's not nuclear physics.

What percent of NFL Draft picks make it? Having already been in the select 0.01% of the top 1.6% of the top 7.3% of the nation, the chosen players might be dismayed to learn that only 30% of those drafted will ever make it onto an NFL roster.Apr 25, 2024
That's for all y'all who seem to think most draft picks should make the roster, be starters, be all pro, or make the Hall Of Fame.
THE FACT is 70 percent of draft picks don't make it the first few years.

Correct but we almost never hit on our 1st round picks. Since 1999 we've only hit on maybe 4 of our 1st rounders and 2 or 3 of those years we had 2 1st round picks. That has to be as bad or probably worse than any other team in the league. I know the Jets are pretty bad too with their drafting.

WRONG bro since 2020 we have had 37 total draft picks 27 are still with the team 5 are with other teams 5 are out of football 84 percent of our draft picks since 2020 are still in the NFL and that is WITHOUT us having A 1st round pick in 3 of 5 years a 2nd round pick in two of those years

The Browns Win/Loss record..are we seeing steady improvement building the Browns into a winning franchise in the AFC North..?
GM, currently, the Browns rank 4 th in the AFC North division and that is with the improvements you noted above...the lack of 1st and 2nd round draft picks and retaining 84% of our draft picks since 2020. I'm not sure that 84% stat indicates a positive for the Browns draft team.

No I didn't. 8.00 Have we seen improvement... yes.. just not enough for the complainers. Now since 1999 when have we had a better front office that produced a better record that our current group.

There isn't a QB on the roster that in any way qualifies as an actual NFL starer so at this point it doesn't really make any difference.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

This’s what years of mismanagement looks like. wait, the goal isn't to have the most expensive and 5th oldest roster and be in cap hell and last in the division yet again? blasphemy

Agreed Pit but it makes sense to play DTR even though we pretty much know what he is. IMO it doesn't make sense to have to be starting any of them. That includes the injured starter if he were healthy. But it is what it is. Stefanski has no choice but to start one of them. So *enter name here* makes as much sense as any other name. As you stated, we pretty much know what he is. And as I see it that's just another warm body.

the Phones game was the most obvious flex game I've ever seen
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

It’s time to bite the bullet and make a total cultural reboot of the whole FO. You don’t have to be inside Berea to understand that this whole organization is on chaos.
Say one good decision that has been made the last 3-4 years. Maybe Jerry Jeudy but after that…?
Right now the Browns has zero pulling power except throwing money in a hope to find a gem at the second hand shop a few blocks away from the Main Street. We can’t draft talents. We can’t keep talents. We don’t know how to develop talents. We don’t even know how to find them.
I know this sounds like a broken record but without a new GM you all can forget about 2025, 2026 and probably 2027. I have hate against these IVY League guys in the FO because they refuse to listen to common sense or take any accountability.

If the FO isn't drafting or finding talent to begin with how can you expect the coaching staff to develop it? On one hand you say the Browns can't draft or find talent then claim it's also the coaching staffs fault for not developing the talent this FO is not providing them with?

I liked him too. Him being the best from his draft (as the pick from the third round) is my problem with that draft.

Good. If we can see if DTR can be part of the future or be done with this conversation entirely... I'm on board. Cincinnati is one of the worst defenses in the NFL and just lost DE Sam Hubbard for the year. As of late, our OL has played pretty decently. So with all of that combined, I don't think DTR will play poorly. But crazier things have happened.
