The players that the Browns end up selecting are what has interest to me.

Watching those players play will have to do.

There will probably be some games that will be fun but for the most part the results will not be good times.

If we do select a quarterback that will be the interest I will have.

If I can see someone that can offer something to build upon. I can handle more of what is our norm.

I am mentally prepared for more of the same.

Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski are going to try and win every game they can in 2025.

Winning three games was an embarrassment. Now their jobs are on the line.

With the second pick in the draft they will select a quarterback.

The rest of the draft will be no different than what has gone before. Meaning they will work the Board and take the players they target.

We will know the results of their work when the team plays.

They will not gut the team for draft picks. They will do everything they can to field a team that can win this year.

I have no idea who they draft. Nor do I know who they might sign as free agents.

Berry has a pile to accomplish on a small plate.

IMO winning 8 games is an overachievement.

I want to like one of the quarterbacks in this draft.

I see some things I like. But I am not overwhelmed by anyone.

I see things in Dart that impress me as a football player. I like the way he plays.

I see good things from Sanders and Ward. But I am again not at that point where I want them badly.

It makes me crazy that we have this second pick and I am not sure what I want to do.

The Myles issue compounds the problem.

I just don't see a top qb in the draft that has a good arm and can fit it into tight spaces aside from Dart.

His release is very quick too.

https://www.essentiallysports.com/n...ared-despite-senior-bowl-disappointment/

Jaxson Dart isn’t one to wait around. The Ole Miss Rebels’ QB1 has made it abundantly clear—he wants to be a Day 1 starter in the NFL, not a clipboard holder learning from the sidelines. That’s a bold stance for any rookie, especially in a class with blue-chip quarterback prospects Quinn Ewers, and Jalen Milroe ahead of him. Yet, despite his strong numbers and flashes of brilliance at the Senior Bowl, where he showcased a mix of poised throws and a rushing touchdown, some doubters have thrown him in “QB3” territory. And as one AFC scout put it, teams shouldn’t be viewing him as a first-rounder just yet. Now a $230 million man could feel his wrath.

Also, if you watch Ward, he never has pressure before 3 seconds. I don't think I saw more than 4 throws by Ward before 3 seconds.

Meanwhile, the average pocket time in the NFL is about 2.4 seconds. Burrow had a measly 2.2 seconds and Jaylen Hurts had the most time with 2.7 seconds.

Please don’t draft one of these QB’s. I think sanders ceiling is Tyrod Taylor-esque. And he’s probably the best of the group.

Interesting.

Goes to show how people can look at the same players and rank them so differently.

There is enough on tape that gives me pause taking one of these guys at two.

When you are in need at quarterback and you have the second pick. Even if a guy is ranked at 15. There is justification to take the guy at two.

You have a first round grade and you can get the guy.

However, I could make a case to take Dart with pick 33. Then again he might go in the first round. Then what?

If the Browns like a guy they should take him.

This is a difficult draft.

I see good things from three guys Sanders, Ward, and Dart.

At the same time there are negatives. I don't get to go through the evaluation process.

I have to trust them to get it right. The whole Myles thing complicates this further.

Unless Sanders goes number one; I think the Browns are going to draft Sanders.

My biggest fear is that we take a QB at two Sanders or Ward.

The Steelers take Dart at 21. He becomes the next Ben.

And our selection is average or below.

If our selection proves to be the answer we have been looking for and Dart is great for the Steelers then ok.

I don't care what happens if we really hit on quarterback.

Therein lies one of the differences between us. Trust is something I consider needs to be earned, not given. This owner and FO hasn't accomplished the things it would take to earn my trust.

There is however always hope. I do still have hope left.

I've asked this before and I don't remember a consensus answer.

Is Trevor Lawrence any good?

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

From what I've seen of his play which is limited at best, he seems to run hot and cold. On his good days he looks good but on his bad days he looks really bad. The thing is I haven't looked into it deep enough to say why that is. There are a number of variables that can impact a QB's play and I certainly couldn't tell you what those variables are in his case.

Better than what we have. He may even be a decent fit for KS.

The present and future are a lot harder to determine than the past. In the right situation, Lawrence could probably be pretty good. Under the wrong circumstances, things could get pretty ugly. If Pittsburgh gave up what it'd probably take to get him, I'd lean towards ugly unless that OL gets a lot better and they add a WR that is reliable

But, the OL getting better despite retaining the OL coach that most I read wanted rid of, and hitting on a WR later in the draft wouldn't entirely surprise me.

That trade could set off some interesting dominoes. Jags grabbing Levis from Tennessee on the cheap (Re-uniting Coen with his QB at Kentucky) setting the table for the Titans to definitely go QB at one, while also likely kicking loose Russ and Fields.

Will be interesting to see which QBs end up where when the music stops this offseason. Could be a decent bit of Vet movement, new places or a complete changing of the guard (as "Guys" perhaps hang up the cleats) remains to be seen.

I have not followed Lawrence.

I remember when he came out. He was considered a "generational quarterback."

He has been with the Jags four years. I think they are on their third head coach. He has been injured.

I have no idea why they would give up on him, or if they have.

....how long does it take HGH to get out of your system, and is there a type that specifically works on hands? lol

I still like a lot about Milroe. But, if tiny hands are a big part of the problems, that could be a "fatal flaw." I think he can do everything he needs to, but if the hands cause consistency to be an issue, I don't know.

I might have to kick around the idea of Quinn Ewers again. He's kind of the forgotten man at QB this draft it seems to me. Could see the value proposition making sense as a Kirk Cousins like draft choice with, perhaps, that potential upside.

And I'm back going over Cam Ward. Bleh, I hate needing a QB. (Bleh, trying to decipher QB play from broadcast angles and random 2nd/3rd/whatever hand "behind the scenes" reports more than Ward specifically.)

One team that I think could be a real candidate to trade for Myles is Dallas.

Myles would love to play there. Jerry Jones is the type of owner GM who would make a move like this. He has a quarterback. Parsons wants to play with Myles and would give up money (so he says).

Myles would give the Cowboys a huge upgrade to compete against the Eagles and Commanders. Mr. Jones has to make a move if he plans to win. They have to have a weapon on defense.

Dallas picks 12th in the first round. If we get two first rounders that is a good spot this year.

We could take Carter and two and Dart at twelve. Or, a quarterback at two and Jeanty at 12 or BPA.

We could come out the first round with two real impact players.

With pick 33 in the second the Browns should be able to land another starter. That is a good start to revitilaize this roster.

Bone I’ve thought of this scenario too. Jerry Needs to make a splash especially with Philly winning the Superbowl and Washington on the rise. Also, we’ve made draft day trades with him before one involving us moving up to draft Brady Quinn. This move would make sense for both teams. I would ask for Dallas’s one this year and next and a 2 this year or next.

We have traded with Dallas.

We stole Cooper from them.

Jerry cannot help himself. He is like those who love jewelry. Myles is a sparkling diamond that he would want bad.

Honestly, it would be a good move for them. He would be worth two ones straight up. If you get more that is even better.

Pick twelve is a good pick this year. There will be great options.

Plus I like that we could go different directions with that pick depending on what we did at two.

If Myles is dug in and Berry believes he is willing to hold out. What is the point of keeping him?

If the end result is that he leaves Cleveland. Make the best deal.

The problem is that any trade would result in accelerating his cap hit which would practically guarantee tearing things down to the studs to get cap compliant. Pushing money into the future only works when the players stay on the team. Myles is almost literally untradable because we managed his contract thinking there was no way we were letting him go. Having the money we spread out hit now would make a losing season almost inevitable. I don't see Berry as the slit his own throat type. I also don't think Haslam is willing to go through another full tear down.

If Myles is prepared to go all the way. What is the point in trying to force his hand?

There are clever ways to make deals work. I don't know how it would be done.

Yes we are going to lose this year. There is no solution to that. We might win three or eight. No difference.

If there are three parties willing to do what would have to be done. I believe there will be a way to do it.

With all the OL coaches we've added (I think we're up to 4?), I wonder if trade back and go OL is the tentative plan.

There is a problem.

KS and AB are in a win now mold. That is because it is hard to keep a job winning three games for more than one year.

At the same time contract cap hell damn near dictates a rebuild for two years.

It seems that the plans are at odds.

The way the Browns see the quarterbacks in this draft will dictate their draft plan.

I can only guess what their evaluation is on the qb's in this draft.

My guess is they favor Sanders over Ward. However, I really do not know if they value either as top of the first round guys.

I wonder if they think they are close? Or, where they see Dart in this draft.

First we get a vet in FA. My choice is Derek Carr. then we trade down, stockpile some picks and get a developmental QB.

If we could get Trevor Lawrence, and I don’t know why the Jags would trade him but I’d take him right now, then everything is out the window. We will know more when free agency hits, and go from there. Until that begins, nothing really matters unless a blockbuster trade takes place. It’s all just yakkity-yak.

It would be a tough ask. Teams aren't keen on giving up both a 1st and 2nd in the same draft. I don't know what other compensation would be due, if any, after the two 1st rounders...if anything it would probably have to be a 3rd rounder, or possibly a decent player. Not a star, a decent player.

PFF overall rankings are pretty shocking.

Shocking in that they do not like this quarterback class at all.

According to their ranking you do not draft a quarterback with the second pick. You either take Hunter or Carter.

Or, you trade down if you can get the right deal.

My philosophy is you should only reach so far for a quarterback. Obviously the position is by far the most impactful.

If you love the guy it does not matter where anyone else ranks the guy. If you need a quarterback and you believe in the guy. You draft him.

If however, you have any doubts. The number two pick has to return a bounty. He has got to be an impact player.

Bone, any QB we take at #2 isn't going to be ready to play. It's not like last season's group of QB's. I said before if we stay at 2 take Carter or Hunter. I prefer Carter if he's there but that's just my opinion. IF we trade down and get more picks then yes take a flyer on a QB whomever that may be. JMO

Free agency is first.

We are going to sign probably two free agent quarterbacks. One will be the probable starter.

There should be no pressure to start a rookie quarterback. If a rookie comes to camp and beats a guy out; so be it. He starts then.

All things considered Cousins seems like a logical guy to sign. He is experienced and he has won in the NFL.

The Myles situation complicates matters. If we trade him. That might alter the Browns draft strategy.

If somehow he is talked into staying. That may change the strategy.

It all begins with the evaluation of the quarterbacks in this draft.

I feel good about Stefanski and Rees playing a big role in the evaluation. I am hopeful that they get this right.

The desperation and price of the watson deal show they've been in win now mode since the day watson stepped off the plane in Cleveland.

Drafting a QB at two this year would be a waste of the pick imo. And I’m not interested in all the primetime drama that might come with it. Even a blind squirrel luck is not a browns trait when it comes to selecting QBs. We did this to ourselves and need to learn from it, not repeat the same mistakes we’ve made for years. Can’t remember who the 3rd(?) rounder was we picked back when we brought in Hoyer to be the bridge, but I feel like this years QB class is that guy at the top of the draft. There maybe a diamond in the rough out there, but I damn sure don’t see them.

It would be much simpler if we could evaluate quarterback prospects accurately.

The problem is nobody is a master at evaluating quarterbacks. Some teams have been better than others.

But failure is the norm.

It almost seems like it takes divine luck.

No matter what we think. We can all be wrong.

I have looked at these guys in this draft. I cannot reach a conclusion. I see traits that could work. I think some guys might do well.

However, until they actually prove it. It is all meaningless.

The Browns have been looking forever. We have had one Hall of Fame quarterback in the history of the Browns. Automatic Otto Graham.

That seems impossible. Yet there are other teams that are not much different than the Browns.

Bernie was the last legit guy and he is not a HOF quarterback.

I want one but I don't know where he is.

If we can get Cousins reasonably, a draft starting Hunter, Conerly, Henderson/BPA, Ewers is sounding pretty good at the moment. Of course, every one of those names could go earlier than our picks.

I see potential in Jaxon Dart.

My fear is that the Steelers draft him at 21, and he turns into Ben II.

I hate this draft because I want so badly to take a quarterback at two.

Ward and Sanders are both legitimate prospects. There is potential there. Maybe we get one and it works out.

There is no way to tell. Sanders has played at a high level and he knows how to play quarterback. Those are big time traits.

Ward has lots of Wow factor. However, I see holes in both players. That is common and some guys develop. Others don't.

Dart interests me because he does everything well and I like his character a lot. There are plays that are head scratchers. But who in college does not have those plays.

I would love to hear what KS and Tommy Rees think about the quarterbacks.
