I don't know if the person has a visa for themself or one that includes their family. Either way, the family needs to leave on time or shouldn't be here at all.

As for what happened in Nashville, I don't know if it happened or not. I don't pay much attention to Nashville news. If you say it happened, I will take your word. Nothing here has gone on like that.

Let me say this. I empathize. I think I have already made that clear. I don't sympathize. While somewhat close in definition, they aren't always the same..
If they came here illegally, they have always known something like this could happen. It's not my fault they put their family members in jeopardy of being separated. Just because previous administration didn't do much this isn't this administrations fault, but it is their problem.

To be honest, I don't think this would be anywhere near the issue it is today had the last administration not allowed unfettered access across an open border.

People just butt heads in this forum. None of us are going to adopt the position of the other.

I ain't buying into the "I'm masked to protect my family" Crap... They are ashamed of what they are doing.

Bush, Obama and Biden all expelled more folks than Trump has in his first and so far in his second term.... And they didn't have to blow off the constitution to accomplish it.

They followed the law as it was written.

Like I said, this is a show that trump puts on. Nothing more and nothing less. Everything with him is Show Business.

By the way, who's killing who. All I've seen so far is Righty's killing people. That is another one of those made up crap storms.

If only Biden would have tried to get legislation passed to help ...

Sure - Trump has ruled like a King with a slew of executive orders and didn't need legislation. True, Trump has let loose masked gangs in black who don't identify themselves and these gangs have terrorized some communities and the "problem" is curtailed. And no doubt in your eyes the ends justify the means. But if you could humour me - and humour Jester:

1. What is the problem with the illegals specifically? They contribute to our economy and offend less than your acerage US citizen.
2. What justification do you have for the Reupblicans preventing Biden from passing legislation to help with the border crossings - and then use his lack of impact on the border as a means to justify what Trump has done peeing all over the constitution?

The worst part of this is that stats verify what you are saying, but Facts be damned.

I guess that old adage applies. Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.

Tom Homan has said repeatedly we are going after the violent criminals. But if we find you in a bar sitting with 10 other people who are here illegally we are gonna arrest all of you and initiate proceedings. They are all here illegally and need to be deported.

You don't have to go that far back in this very thread to find the article where US servicemembers' spouses have been deported. After that, there was an Afghan interpreter who helped American troops (and I'm assuming was brought to the US to avoid retribution in their home country for giving said help.

Our immigration (the legal process many use to IMMIGRATE to this country) is broken... it takes many years (and a decent chunk of money) to legally immigrate and become a permanent resident. There has been absolutely ZERO done to fix this. You've got a legal process so convoluted and broken that it requires years and a team of lawyers to navigate, and then if/when time runs out on that process, you have a rabid dog (Homan) that's trying to meet an arbitrary quota of shipping out humans. So intentional or not, you are talking out both sides of your mouth on this... and that's not even considering the legal programs that were canceled that brought vetted, sponsored individuals here that were artificially made illegal overnight by said program cancellations.

We didn't need new legislation. We already have immigration laws. It's funny how illegal crossing are down to a trickle as compared to a year ago. Desire to enforce is all it took.

Here is a good read on costs.

I've posted articles for this numerous times. The program was arbitrarily canceled... with no warning. Those TPP programs have an expiration date (I believe in this case it was 3 years, but I don't remember that part for sure and I'm not looking it up again).

Burying your head in the sand and/or not putting 2 and 2 together may be convenient, but it doesn't make for an effective argument.

So by your own numbers, 2 out of the 100 were "violent criminals", and less than half had felonies. Per my previous arguments on here, I would LOVE to know the rest of the "immigration violations" included.

Empathize means you understand the thoughts/feelings of another, and if this conversation has taught me anything, is that the deportation crowd does not understand some of the key contributing factors in this debate. You all also don't seem to understand that the story we're getting from this admin significantly deviates from reality in a few key areas (the characterization of the majority of the people we are deporting, being the primary one... as well as the contributing factors to not being able to secure permanent residence here).

You do realize this is in no way what he said. He was speaking about people that are here illegally. That if a farmer "vouches for them" they can stay. People here legally wouldn't need a farmer to "vouch for them" to be allowed to stay.

'We want to be a partner with ICE': Lee explains THP role in traffic stops in Nashville

Gov. Lee confirms state cooperation as troopers conduct 369 traffic stops at federal request, resulting 94 people detained for being undocumented.

https://www.newschannel5.com/news/w...s-thp-role-in-traffic-stops-in-nashville

So out of 369 stops they made 94 arrests. And you know many if not most of those vehicles had more than one person in them. So this involved questioning well over 500 people. So no more and probably less than 1 out of 5 people they confronted were illegal. The only thing they were "targeting" is "brown people".

I have no idea how you could say something like this. Did you already forget that the first time he ran his main platform was to build a border wall? He went on and on and on about it. He said Mexico would pay for it. That was before Biden. Come on man.

It’s important to the Mega crowd because they don’t look like them. They arre sub-human. They are taking over their neighborhoods, their jobs, their shops and businesses. And damn they work harder and pray harder and have better family values than the Mega crowd. They want them gone, all of them.

I live in what I would describe an upper middle class, majority Republican neighborhood in a suburb of Nashville. One neighbor who lives below us is so MAGA he flew the flag upside down after Biden won in 2020. Flew a trump flag at his house. But so far I have yet to see any of these people have anything but immigrants who can't speak English doing their remodeling work, roofing their homes or doing their landscaping. I can't make a blanket statement as to how it works everywhere but that's how it works here. It's the old "Do as I say not as I do" crowd.

Exactly. same here. I do my own yard work. But nearly everyone around us uses the mostly Hispanic work force for that. There is one house in our neighborhood with a handicap person in a wheelchair. They had been flying the trump flag for a couple years now. The day after the BBB passed, I noticed it wasn’t flying anymore. I’m betting someone in the household is on Medicaid. Damn freeloaders.

Oh but they think they can.

Advocating violence by either side is just wrong. there's no two ways about that. That's what those on the fringe of both sides do. It's just not normal for people to elect someone on the fringe to be our president.

And if criminals were what they were targeting that would be great! But so far they can't even seem to figure out who the gang members are and who they aren't. Rounding people up waiting to be day laborers isn't helping. Arresting farm workers at vegetable farms isn't helping. Rounding up workers at meat processing plants isn't helping. Randomly stopping hundreds of cars in one small location in a few hours while only finding something illegal in about 1 in 5 encounters isn't helping. And articles like the one you posted avoid mentioning those things by trying to pretend that's not what's really happening here.

I can't think of a single person who doesn't want actual criminals removed. But then some of us don't think traffic tickets or being caught with a little weed makes you a criminal in need of deportation. Some use that too as an excuse to deport people. Now you can get back to your usual line of "They're all criminals because they came here illegally!" line....

And for each of those, there's one of these.

By all accounts, this dude is the poster child of people we want immigrating to the US. US govt (going back multiple admins) has fumbled his visa situation and immigration process at just about every step.

Nobody is arguing against what you posted in your link. The issue with the current admin's aggressive stance is the example I'm showing here.

Federal judge issues new nationwide block against Trump’s order seeking to end birthright citizenship

A federal judge agreed Thursday to issue a new nationwide block against President Donald Trump’s executive order seeking to end birthright citizenship.

The ruling from US District Judge Joseph Laplante is significant because the Supreme Court last month curbed the power of lower court judges to issue nationwide injunctions, while keeping intact the ability of plaintiffs to seek a widespread block of the order through class action lawsuits, which is what happened Thursday in New Hampshire.

Ruling from the bench, Laplante granted a request from immigration rights attorneys to certify a nationwide class that “will be comprised only of those deprived of citizenship” and issued a preliminary injunction indefinitely blocking Trump’s Day One order from being enforced against born and unborn babies who would be impacted by the policy.

“The preliminary injunction is just not a close call to the court,” Laplante said during a hearing. “The deprivation of US citizenship and an abrupt change of policy that was longstanding … that’s irreparable harm.”

US citizenship, the judge added, “is the greatest privilege that exists in the world.”

The judge, an appointee of former President George W. Bush, said he would pause his order for several days to give the Trump administration time to appeal his decision.

Laplante’s ruling could prove to be a critical bulwark against Trump’s policy as other courts scramble to take a second look at their decisions in light of the Supreme Court’s ruling.

In February, Laplante indefinitely blocked the Trump administration from enforcing the order only against members of several nonprofit groups who would have been impacted by it.

“I’m the judge who wasn’t comfortable with issuing a nationwide injunction. Class action is different,” the judge said at one point during Thursday’s hearing. “The Supreme Court suggested class action is a better option.”

In his ruling earlier this year, Laplante said Trump’s order “contradicts the text of the Fourteenth Amendment and the century-old untouched precedent that interprets it.”

Several other judges similarly ruled that Trump’s order was unconstitutional, but their injunctions applied nationwide and prompted the administration to mount the series of appeals that eventually landed before the Supreme Court.

Thursday’s proceeding focused largely on the request from immigration rights attorneys who brought the legal challenge for Laplante to certify a class of individuals that would include “all current and future children” who would be affected by Trump’s order, and their parents. The judge’s ruling Thursday did not include the parents in the class.

The judge appeared sympathetic to arguments pushed by the Justice Department that certifying a class including the parents might run up against the federal rules regarding class certification if those adults each had immigration situations that were significantly different from another adult in the class.

DOJ attorney Eric Hamilton had wanted the judge to allow for discovery so more information could be gathered on the adults who are part of the legal challenge, but the judge, aware of the urgency of the litigation, noted that such court-ordered fact-finding wouldn’t be feasible.

“You’re right, (ordinarily) we’d conduct discovery before granting class certification,” Laplante said. “There’s no time for discovery.”

“No court in the country has agreed with the administration on the underlying constitutional question. Every court has said that this order is unconstitutional, and so we expect to prevail on that question,” said Cody Wofsy, an American Civil Liberties Union attorney who helped bring the pair of New Hampshire cases. “The issue before the court on Thursday is ultimately just: procedurally, how are we going to ensure that every single child is protected?”

Class action lawsuits require “class representatives,” or individuals who, if the class is certified, will represent the class members.

In this case, those proposed representatives had included a Honduran asylum-seeker – referred to in court papers as “Barbara” – who is living in New Hampshire and expecting a baby in October, and a Brazilian man – referred to as “Mark” – who is attempting to get lawful permanent status. Mark’s wife – who is not in the US lawfully – gave birth in March.

“If the Order is left in place,” the lawyers wrote, “those children will face numerous obstacles to life in the United States, including stigma and potential statelessness; loss of their right to vote, serve on federal juries and in many elected offices, and work in various federal jobs; ineligibility for various federal programs; and potential arrest, detention, and deportation to countries they may have never even seen.”

Signed by Trump on January 20, the executive order, titled “PROTECTING THE MEANING AND VALUE OF AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP,” said that the federal government will not “issue documents recognizing United States citizenship” to any children born on American soil to parents who were in the country unlawfully or were in the states lawfully but temporarily.

The Supreme Court said in its June 27 ruling that the administration cannot begin enforcing the order for 30 days, though the government is allowed to begin developing guidance on how the policy will be implemented.

In the other challenges to Trump’s order, lower courts around the country have asked the parties to submit written legal arguments addressing how the Supreme Court’s ruling could impact the nationwide injunctions issued in those cases, and more court proceedings are expected in the coming days and weeks.

But that process will take time and it’s unclear whether any of those courts will narrow their injunctions ahead of when Trump is permitted to enforce the birthright policy.

“I feel like we’re the only people who rushed around here,” Laplante quipped during Thursday’s hearing.

This is an instance where trump is trying to "create" illegal immigrants that are natural born citizens according to the constitution. No president has the authority to rewrite the constitution. Only a dictator would think they do and only those who support a dictator would agree.
