There's a very long list of things within the political system that lack common sense. Is that the converstaion or is the conversation the bogus claim that Democrats are trying to flood the country with illegals in order to gain votes? That's two different converstaions.
I mean it would be common sense to eliminate pork barrel spending. It's commons sense to eliminate lobbying and the $4.5 Billion dollars spent on bribing politicians of all/any party. Stopping the PoTUS pardoing convicted criminals (Dems or Rep) would be common sense. . . . 3 off the top of my head without even thinking about this. It's a good point to bring up in that it's a problem in our country.... even though it's not the problem that GOP tries to spin it as. Historically, larger-turnout elections tend to favor democrats (with this last presidential election being a significant outlier). So it makes sense that they want to make it so more people that can vote should vote. That's NOT the same thing as them unofficially adopting the practice of stuffing the voter rolls with people that aren't supposed to even be here.

I'm just wondering what exactly you think it is you need to get a photo I.D. in the first place? I mean you don't have a photo I.D. until you get one. And if you don't have a photo I.D. in the first place you certainly can't get a photo I.D. by using a photo I.D.
Generally speaking if you have a birth certificate and mail to verify your residence you qualify to get a state I.D. or drivers license. So why wouldn't these same forms of I.D. be good enough to have you qualify to vote? The only difference is you didn't go through the process and cost of getting the photo I.D. while you still provided the documentation that would qualify for you to get one. I'll ask yo trumpians this again since you seem to have avoided it like the plague.... In Ohio, it costs all of $10 to get an I.D. card. Valid for 4 years.

Which in no way addressed my question. If you use the exact same forms of identification it takes to get a state ID or drivers license to vote, what difference does it make? That same documentation would get you a photo I.D.
If it would allow you to illegally vote it would also allow you to illegally get a photo I.D. which seems to be of so much importance to some people. So if voter fraud is such an issue why wouldn't that apply to photo I.D. fraud? If those same forms of I.D could lead to fraud in voting the exact same thing would apply to getting a photo I.D.
This entire "photo I.D." thing makes no sense because you don't need a photo I.D. to get a photo I.D.
Once again, you totally avoided that. Would you like to actually address the question?

And you still ignored the question. Why am I not surprised? I'll put this as simply as I possibly can so maybe it will sink in this time.....
You use the same documents to get a photo I.D. as you use to vote without a photo I.D. So what difference does it make which place you use those same documents at? If your claim is without using a photo I.D. it's easier to commit voter fraud by that very same token it would make it just as easy to get a fake photo I.D. to vote with.
I mean I get it. You have to dodge the question because there's no logical answer to the question. But you could at least stop playing whackamole and address it, admit there is no logical answer to the question or stop playing the part that you're not smart enough to understand the question.

I'm not dodging anything.
You stated they couldn't afford a (in Ohio) $10 state card. If they have a birth certificate, and mail, they can get an ID card. Why make the people at the polls check stuff? Period. The end.

In Ohio, it costs all of $10 to get an I.D. card. Valid for 4 years. It's 100% free (same as most states) if you are in any Ohio low-income program. All that's required is proof of SNAP, Medicaid, or SSI participation. People act there is some kind of jumping through hoops or unwarranted expense when there is literally none.

This argument makes no sense. Those documents are provided so that a new document (ID card) can be created with a picture of your face. Then that ID card can be used to easily verify your identity. The "logical answer" is: then people at polling places can match address or other information, look at your face, and verify the picture on the ID. Seems elementary. But wait there's more... An agency issuing ID requires certified documents to prove identity, ie... birth certificate, passport, or immigration document. They also require proof of your Social Security number and proof of residency at your address, again using limited lists of acceptable documents. The staff then checks that your documents are genuine and consistent (names, dates, numbers must match across documents). Then, most states additionally use fraud-prevention tech like facial recognition to make sure your new photo does not match an existing record under another name. You think polling places should do all that to confirm your identity?? All because "no fair!!"? What would the lines look like then?? Lastly... If you've lied about anything to get your ID -- guess what they can invalidate? Yep -- your ID. How would they invalidate your vote??

But you could at least stop playing whackamole and address it, admit there is no logical answer to the question or stop playing the part that you're not smart enough to understand the question. There is a logical answer. When you go to get an id you don't just flash a couple docs and they hand you an id. They take the docs and other info like your SSN and put it into a system to make sure everything is valid. If you try to show these docs at a polling place on election day, you're likely dealing with a volunteer that is not qualified for processing said documents to make sure they are legitimate. Even if they were there would be long lines that would ensure that Fate mentioned. Let's take a look at what you are proposing in practice. Airport security. When you go to the airport you got 2 options for getting through security, TSA precheck or general security. If you go through general security, you have to provide proof of who you are and you get your belongings searched. This process is slow and results in long lines. You can go through precheck by submitting your information ahead of time and breeze through the line in less than 10 minutes. Getting a photo id shows you already verified you are who you say you are and there is no need to go through it again. Now, can you please explain why someone proving their identity is such a terrible thing in order to vote?
It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

I just know, in my small, rural community, when I go vote, I am greeted with "Hey Arch, how ya doing? I need to see your i.d."
But that's too much to ask of others???????????????

A state ID should be required to vote full stop. It's not controversial in the slightest either....The only people who don't think it's okay are the ones trying to hide something.
If you're a valid citizen\adult, why wouldn't you have a driver's license, social security card, or some sort of state ID? And if you don't then maybe you don't get to vote. If you can't produce an ID when buying a gun you're not getting that either and it's also a right. And don't anybody lecture on how its different.....voting for the right or wrong person can have more untold consequences then someone buying a gun. Voting can lead to thousands, millions of deaths, financial hardship, and wide implications. Many people don't think about that but it can.
Also, if you lie about anything on purpose, consider it a breach of federal law and instantly punishable. Something the same as if you knowingly lie on filling out the gun background form.
None of this matters though because Congress doesn't do anything that helps the American people. It would take all 541 members of Congress to screw in a light bulb and they still couldn't get it done cause they're nothing but morons.
Find what you love and let it kill you.

I guess the simple way to get a consensus is to agree on two simple true facts.
1. ID for voting makes a lot of sense. States could find ways to encourage anyone without an ID to get one in order to vote at either no cost or absolute minimal cost. Easy for a bunch of middle aged working or middle class folks to say "it's only $10" -- but when you have to choose between eating or heating (which is a real choice for some) $10 doesn't come with "ONLY" as a prefix.
2. Agree and accept that the idea that Democrats are trying to get illegals to vote for them in any election is a lie spun by MAGA . Voter fraud is a consistent fear mongering tactic employed by the Right - but in all the high profile cases I have seen it is REPUBLICANS who are guilty at least as much, possibly more than Dems in real world, verifiable cases.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

Obviously we have some on this board that would rather post and believe the posts of random MAGA twitter users than think that AI might draw from facts .... but for anyone that wants to keep something of an open mind:
1. The Overall Rarity of Fraud Multiple studies from universities, non-partisan agencies, and news organizations (including right-leaning ones like the Heritage Foundation, which maintains a database) have concluded that voter fraud is statistically insignificant in U.S. elections. It occurs at a rate of 0.0003% to 0.0025% of votes cast. It does not alter electoral outcomes.
2. Party Affiliation of Those Convicted When looking at the small number of prosecutable cases, they involve individuals from across the political spectrum, often driven by local circumstances or individual error rather than a coordinated party effort.
The Majority are Isolated, Individual Acts: Cases often involve:
A person on parole who mistakenly thought they could vote.
A small number of duplicate votes by citizens who voted in two states.
A handful of fraudulent absentee ballots or false registrations.
No Clear Partisan Pattern: Reviews of conviction records show that when party affiliation is identifiable, it is roughly split or shows no systemic advantage for either Democrats or Republicans. For example:
A Reuters analysis in 2021 examined all known voter fraud prosecutions since 2000 and found that a majority of the identifiable convictions were of Republicans, though the overall numbers were tiny. This was partly because several high-profile cases involved Republican operatives or voters.
NBC News analyzed the Heritage Foundation's database (which aims to catalog all fraud cases) and found that about 47% of the cases where party affiliation could be determined were Republicans, and 43% were Democrats—a virtually even split given the minuscule sample size.
3. The Critical Distinction: Claims vs. Proven Cases This is the core of your question:
Claims: The claims of widespread fraud since 2016, and especially after the 2020 election, have been overwhelmingly made by Republican officials and activists. These claims have been the subject of numerous lawsuits, audits, and investigations.
Findings: Every major investigation—by state officials (including Republican ones), federal courts, and even the Trump administration's own Justice Department—has found no evidence of widespread fraud that could change an election result. For instance, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) under the Trump administration called the 2020 election "the most secure in American history."
4. Notable High-Profile Exceptions Some of the most prominent proven fraud cases in recent years have, ironically, involved Republicans:
North Carolina's 9th Congressional District (2018): A Republican political operative was charged with illegally collecting absentee ballots. The election was overturned and re-run.
Lorraine City, Ohio (2020): A Republican city councilwoman was convicted of voting twice in the 2020 election.
The "Voter Fraud" Group in Texas (2021): Several Republican activists were charged with submitting fraudulent voter registrations in a controversial "ballot harvesting" scheme.
Conclusion To directly answer your question: In the last 10 years, statistically known cases of voter fraud are so rare that no meaningful partisan trend exists. However, when the party affiliation of those convicted is examined in databases, it shows a roughly even split, with some analyses showing a slight majority of Republican convictions in the identifiable cases—primarily because the few high-profile, organized attempts that were prosecuted happened to involve Republican actors.
The overwhelming consensus from election officials, researchers, and courts is that voter fraud is not a systemic problem in U.S. elections, and the massive claims of fraud made in recent years are not reflected in the judicial record. The vast majority of election professionals agree that the real threats to election integrity are administrative errors and, more recently, the erosion of public trust based on unsubstantiated claims.

LMAO. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/energy-prices-electricity-heat-costs/More Americans are having to choose between food and energy bills and elsewhere Millions of Americans, especially low-income households, regularly face the choice between affording food and paying for heating or cooling, with estimates showing anywhere from 16% to over half of low-income families making these difficult trade-offs, sacrificing necessities for energy bills, highlighting significant "energy poverty" in the U.S.. A 2025 study found 57% of low-income households can't meet energy needs without cutting food or medicine, while other data points to millions behind on utility bills, forced to choose between essentials. Key Statistics & Findings: Energy Poverty: About 16% of U.S. households experience energy poverty, defined as spending too much on energy, impacting basic needs. Low-Income Households: Nearly 3 in 5 (57%) low-income Americans struggle to afford energy without cutting food or medicine. Food vs. Energy: A 2025 survey indicated 52% of low-income households sacrificed food for utility bills in the past year. Utility Bill Debt: As of early 2023, over 20 million households were behind on electric bills, with 13 million behind on natural gas bills. Census Data (2021): Nearly a third of Americans cut back on necessities like food or medicine to pay energy bills. Why This Happens: Rising Costs: Increases in energy prices (natural gas, heating oil, electricity) strain budgets. Socioeconomic Factors: Poverty and fixed incomes make these choices unavoidable for many families. These figures demonstrate a widespread struggle, with rising energy costs forcing millions to choose between staying warm/cool and putting food on the table, a situation known as "heat or eat". Oh - and I did not say it cost anything or not --- I commented on how middle aged white posters on this board find it easy to "SAY" that. I know sometimes comprehension is a difficulty while you lurk reading this forum and claim to be not participating. Or did you just need to swing by and try to betray more personal confidence?

Maybe you can look up what the definition of a straw man arguement is. Clearly you don't know at the moment.
But feel free to make jokes instead of acknowledging any mistakes. What is it called when you try and deflect and always be right about something and never acknowledge mistakes ? Is there a syndrome for that yet ? Hey .... You can even make fun of the poor and starving while you're at it. A great way to start a new year. Well done.

Nope. I equated your stupid argument about people not being able to afford food or heat to being a big NOTHING when they're all granted...
FREE IDS
I know you can't follow a bouncing ball or an argument, but...
Pit said polling places should set up tents with ID verification and AI facial recognition so people couldn't be troubled to get their FREE ID, and then you tried to shimmy in the fact that $10 is a lot for people that can't afford food or heat... still ignoring the fact that the...

Now you want to cry foul and say I make fun of the poor.
It just proves, for about the 4 millionth time, that you and yours have no argument and want to create one out of thin air.

You know how they are. When they're busted making fun of the poor, they just throw in a lame tampon slur for good measure. It's who they are. Their issue is often times they start that stupid BS with people who can play that game as good or better than they do. And to top it all off they're the very same people who blame others for starting the trash they themselves start. It's quite true with that ilk that every accusation they accuse others of ends up being an admission of what they themselves are doing. And they leave receipts for everyone to see.

Pit said polling places should set up tents with ID verification and AI facial recognition That's a blatant lie. I never said any such thing. You forgot to take your Midol today didn't you? Less than half of the states provide free photo I.D's. Nobody pulled that comment you made about how the poor out of thin air.

Can't argue facts. Can't debate a topic. Full blown liberal-meltdown-crybaby mode. AKA every day at Pit's PP ![[Linked Image from media.tenor.com]](https://media.tenor.com/dxVDVv0L7bwAAAAM/woman-yelling.gif) At least we've established that people need to present IDs at polling places -- even if you're freezing or starving when you get there. Buh-bye, snowflakes. Enjoy your day crying about Trump. 👊

Nothing about this is "trying to debate a topic"....... If they're starving or cold, maybe they can eat or cover-up with their...
FREE ID Telling a blatant lie is not "trying to debate a topic". Pit said polling places should set up tents with ID verification and AI facial recognition Throwing out nasty one liners like a petulant child is not "trying to debate a topic.... Put your tampon in sideways today, buddy? You came here to spew BS and throw a tantrum and that's exactly what you did. And now of course like the real snowflakes do, you try to blame someone else for it. Same as it ever was.

Actually, I came here to see if you actually had the balls to continue to argue your stupid talking point about IDs after being served your lunch (again). Instead, we get three left turns and a trip down crybaby lane. Dry your eyes and eat your PB & J. It's lunch time. Four more hours before your wife makes you join the real world. ![[Linked Image from media.tenor.com]](https://media.tenor.com/dxVDVv0L7bwAAAAM/woman-yelling.gif)

I understand why you think someone's wife would control their husband since that's how things work at your house. Not all of us live that way. I'll send thoughts and prayers your way. You are absolutely right that you along with others brought up points I hadn't thought of in terms of a photo I.D. Yet still, free photo I.D.s exist in less than half of the states. I think all states should provide free photo I.D's and everyone in states that do should have to have a photo I.D to vote. See, that isn't hard to do to admit you learned something or that you were wrong. You still continue to throw out insults and had no intention of "trying to debate a topic". You left receipts. And then there is this one............ The one who has been playing the part of Karen claimed she/he was leaving and still here you are. I say he/she because your obvious estrogen overload seems to leave that part in question. Please do continue....

I've already told you once .. .. I'll slow down and say it again hoping you can comprehend or catch up.
I saw that you or someone posted that on OHIO the ID is free. I don't know if that's true or not. I ASSUME it's correct. I also don't know of that applies to every state in the nation.... But my comment about the poor and cost of energy or food wasn't in response to the cost of an ID. It was in response to a post making a comment "only $10" ... Everything subsequent refers to the comment by a white middle class person being misguided.
It's really not hard if you take a moment.
After that you did most definitely use the poor and starving I referenced as a punch line. You also failed to acknowledge being incorrect about what challenges the poor face. And you went full testosterone rage with the tampon slur , somehow thinking that won you points when all it did was reflect on you.
Those are the facts. Period.

I'm the one that said it's only $10. It is good for 4 years, so that's $2.50 per year.

Thanks Arch -
Someone has said it is free - I have not verified. And if that is true, I am not sure if that's the case in every state ... However - My point was/is - while you think $10 is not a lot there are people who can't afford to eat AND pay their energy bills. So I think $10 to anyone in that poverty bracket is not "only $10".

Let's break that down: $10 divided by 48 months: 21 cents per MONTH. I don't think that's a lot. I mean, come on, a drivers license costs more, yet most of the poor have one, don't they?

They are totally free in Ohio arch............
Ohio offers
free non-driver State ID cards for voting purposes, thanks to legislation effective April 2023, specifically for those needing an ID to vote who lack one, with costs waived at the Ohio BMV for eligible voters. While standard IDs typically have a fee, this provision ensures everyone has access to a valid photo ID required for elections, with organizations like VoteRiders helping people get necessary documents and rides to BMV offices.

Thanks. That kinda shoots the hell out "for the poor, even $10 for 4 years is too much", doesn't it.

It sure does. They even offer rides to get the I.D.'s. At that point if you want to vote there are no obstacles in your way other than just the lack of any effort whatsoever to do so.

If you can't afford an I.D. you certainly don't have to worry about having enough money to check into a hotel. Or even a motel for that matter. But that's neither here nor there.
The photo is you are in fact the person showing up to vote. I also don't buy the argument a person can't afford a ID.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

Those issues have already been settled. I'm sorry you didn't follow the thread. People actually addressed the questions by providing facts and information to show me that it isn't the same thing without interjecting their feelings, what they thought or what they did or didn't "buy".
