I don't think Stefanksi has hired a DC yet. He did. He kept the DC that was there. I forgot the name it was the father of the son who prank called Shedeur during the draft.

He did the right thing for himself and his career. While we have fans whining because the Browns have to follow the same rules as the other 31 teams do.
Can't make it up! You just did make it up. No one said the rule is unfair to the Browns. Everyone merely said it's stupid.

Yet it's only now that people are claiming it's egregious. This is not just the Rooney rule that is being complained about. It's specifically about this situation on how it effects the Browns in a very unusual circumstance. As per usual timing is everything.

Yes, timing is everything. Maybe you live in a cave, but this is the first time we're hiring a HC since the rule change.
And, oh yeah, this is a Browns message board as well. That would explain why people may be relating it to the Browns' situation; crazy, I know. Maybe go scour some other teams' message boards so you can see if we're the only "whiners"?
The question remains... not that you probably want to engage in actual conversation when you can hurl insults... why would any team be forced to hire a second minority when they've already accomplished the goal of the rule itself by hiring the minority??

It seems in your frustration you actually agree with me. The question remains... not that you probably want to engage in actual conversation when you can hurl insults... why would any team be forced to hire a second minority when they've already accomplished the goal of the rule itself by hiring the minority?? You'll have to ask the NFL why they establish their rules. I'm not a billionaire with a team of lawyers. The rules in any sport, be it the NFL, NBA or any other for that member, are the same for every team that belongs in that league. It is no more fair or unfair for the Browns than it is all of the other 31 NFL teams. Yes, they are only complaining about the rule now because it's about the Browns just like I said. Thanks for agreeing with me.

This says more about the Browns' opening than anything I've yet read. Maybe... but as someone who didn't want anything to do with MM as a head coach, IMO it's a savvy move on his part. He's an innovative offensive coordinator on a team with weapons that just needs (and has acknowledged) that they need to upgrade the offensive line talent (oh yeah, and they have a good complementary defense). He'll be able to flex his coordinator muscles and build back his argument to be a HC in short order.

I don't think Stefanksi has hired a DC yet. He was asked to keep the current DFC, and agreed.

It is very disappointing that Minter and McDaniel have cancelled interviews with the Browns but can you really blame them?

I feel that if the Browns are going to hire a defensive head coach.
It has to be Schwartz. The defensive players on the Browns love the guy. Schwartz has been a great hire.
The defensive performance proves that. If Schwartz was younger he would be the hot guy to hire.
McDaniel made the decision that fits him now. It is understandable that he resets his market and takes the Chargers job. They are a playoff team with a great QB.
If we can add a OC who can help develop a quarterback and bring an offense that will work for the Browns. Schwartz is the right head coach.
He knows how to run a team and hold players accountable. He brings a brand of toughness.
IMO he would be the safest hire.

Honestly, I'm not that disappointed. I understand the optics... but I didn't have either candidate high on my list.
Also, his preferred style of defense doesn't totally fit our personnel (zone-heavy, and he likes to disguise pressure vs generating it from the front).

Based upon what?
He was a head coach in Detroit. He did ok.
Coaches move around their success is dependent upon many factors. It is not only on the head coach.
The Browns organization knows JS. They should know if he can do it.
