Definitely not eloquent and that’s kinda fresh. Didn’t have to listen to most of the canned responses these guys usually give on day one and it’s obvious, while he had notes, it wasn’t some rehearsed BS…
Pretty well established and not having to forge a name for himself is a plus. Realizing what winning here means was something I was really looking for. I think he gets it.
Ultimately, it still boils down to getting it done and showing us. This fandom has heard a lot of flowery talk and it’s become tiring and time to actually change something. Get out of the way Jimmy, give him the time to see if his approach can make a difference.
It doesn't sound positive for Schwartz staying. Sometimes the things people don't say tells us more about a situation than the things they do say. Even at that they had nothing positive to say about him remaining in Cleveland.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Agree, the part about chipping Myles and not Schwartz plus they’ll be running the same system pretty much put that to rest.
I have had very limited exposure to Monken - and he was not my choice - but I will agree with every sentiment that he seems authentic and all about getting to work and not trying to dress chicken chit up as chicken salad. I like that. I get the impression - and who knows yet - but he seems to wear his heart on his sleeve and there will not be the endless trotting out of platitudes and meaningless bland tripe after losses or poor performances. That was one of the 3 or 4 biggest issues I developed with KS - hopefully Monken holds people accountable (in a productive way).
All the questions and non-answers and sidestepping on Schwartz (again Monken gave the most telling/straight answer - I didn't take the job because of JS). . . it sounds like [1] they are still hoping he doesn't land a gig somewhere else but he's clearly looking [2] The idiocy and ineptitude of Berry and Haslam to be interviewing every coach with the (reported) caveat that they want to keep Schwartz without having a freaking clue how he will handle being passed over. Just dumb. Very Haslam and very Browns.

You never really know how or how not someone will dress up chicken chit until its their own chickens doing the chitting.
It's easy to talk about the situation you are walking into because it's someone elses chicken chit.
I have no idea how that will play out but I do know what I posted above is true
I really don't have much to say about Monken or his press conference. He certainly wouldn't have been my first choice but I'm not really an expert at hiring NFL HC's either nor is anyone else on this board.
But as it pertains to his press conference. We have watched coaches come and go here like watching kids on a merry go round. They all come here "saying the right things". Fans allow their words to give them hope as to the outcome. When in reality no matter how they come across their words really have no impact on their ability to coach.
Wait and see is the only thing any of us have at this point.

You know how sometimes you have a coach that is articulate and sharp... Maybe a little too Ivy League. Monken doesn't come across like that.. He comes across like a guy you'd talk to at the corner bar while having a Beer and a Burger.
That, for Cleveland, Just might be the best thing. Someone used the word Sincere.. I think that fits pretty well. I do hope he can work it out with Schwartz.. but I have some doubt. After all, Schwartz had a mini meltdown after Monken was announced. So he may not be able to role that back... Probably would have been better all around if he'd have held his mud....
He had one hell of a D here.. but as Monken said, it's the players.. with out players, his best chance to get noticed is right here. So we'll see if that resonates with him.

If Schwartz does not return, remember this name Aden Durde.
You saying he's going to leave a team that is playing on Sundays Super-Bowl to come to the Browns ?
Yes. Mike Macdonald currently calls the plays on defense in Seattle. Aden can be the guy in Cleveland. Seattle's defense is similar to the Browns. Having success with two teams makes his resume look pretty good for a head coaching job.
1. Questions were actually good except from MKC (and I believe Lloyd with Haslam about Giannis; he’s slowly becoming a buffoon).
2. Monken won the presser by simply not addressing the reporters by their first names in every response. One of the most insincere, inauthentic, fake crap Stefanski did here. I swear that bought him two extra years here. I heard he did it in his first presser with the Falcons. Stefanski approaches everything based on what he read in a book. Just be real.
No idea if this will work but will be interesting to see.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...
I think that's more than a reasonable take - it's like smarmy sales 101. How to win friends and influence people ... you might not see anything wrong with it. Others might see it as fake, unauthentic and charmless. Given how KS lacked any sort of personality when he was here - I think the fakeness of calling journalists by their name is a real thing that is a turn off. If you don't I'm not going to slam you for it ...
The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.
People interact with others in different ways. Just because that's the way he addressed the journalists doesn't mean it was fake.
I'll give you an example. My first name is Roy. When I first moved down here I found it quite odd that every time I had an appointment somewhere they addressed me as "Mr. Roy". I found that to be the strangest thing at first. But that's just the way they communicate with people.
I can see how some have decided to take it that way or feel that way about it. And just as yourself I'm not going it slam you for it. But different situations call for different reactions as well.
With some people they search for reasons to hate on people for anything and everything they can come up with. That doesn't apply to you but I think it does to the individual I was responding to in my post you are replying to.

I think the media are generally a bunch of doofuses but if I were coming in to this job I’d kinda like to not have them despising me right off the bat. The Browns organization itself supplies plenty of crap to deflect and deter you from your work.
